In this verse, Guru Nanak Dev Ji describes the cosmic Aarti being performed for the Divine. The sky serves as the platter, with the sun and moon acting as lamps. The constellations of stars are likened to pearls, adorning this magnificent and natural worship of the Creator.

Further, Guru Nanak Dev Ji illustrates that the fragrant breeze from the Malaya mountains acts as incense, and the wind itself waves the ceremonial fan (chavar). The entire vegetation, with its blooming flowers, offers its worship to that divine light. Every element of nature is thus engaged in glorifying the Almighty.

This rhetorical question highlights the immeasurable glory of the Divine and the unparalleled grandeur of His worship, which cannot be fully captured in words.
anahatā sabada vājaṁta bherī rahāu||
This verse describes the 'Anahat Shabad' (unstruck sound) resonating like a drum (bheri) without any physical effort. You have thousands of pure feet, yet You walk without feet, and You possess thousands of fragrances, yet You are without scent. This signifies Your transcendental and supra-sensory power, existing beyond all material limitations.
sabha mahi joti joti hai soi||

The Guru alone enables us to realize that ultimate truth and awakens that inner radiance within us.

hari caraṇa kamala makaraṁda lobhita mano anadino mohi āhī piāsā||
Here, the devotee describes their mind as greedy for the nectar (pollen) of the Lord's lotus feet. Their mind is constantly immersed in the thirst for that divine essence. This expresses an intense desire for continuous love and devotion at the feet of God.
kṛpā jalu dehi nānaka sāriṁga kau hoi jā te terai nāmi vāsā||
Guru Nanak Ji likens himself to a 'saring' (chatak) bird, thirsty for a drop of water from the Swati constellation. He implores God for the water of grace, so that his mind may reside in the Lord's name. This signifies a profound yearning to be absorbed in the divine name.

The sky is the platter, the sun and moon are lamps, and the stars are pearls. The fragrance from the Malaya mountains is incense, and the wind waves the fan. The entire vegetation is illuminated by the light of flowers, all performing the Aarti of God.
kaisī āratī hoi||
This line is posed as a question, in the context of the grand cosmic Aarti described in the previous verse. Guru Nanak Dev Ji asks what is the significance or need of our man-made Aarti in comparison to this vast and natural worship. It emphasizes the futility of external show and the superiority of inner devotion.
bhavakhaṁḍanā terī āratī||
O Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the destroyer of worldly attachments and the liberator from the cycle of birth and death, we perform your Aarti. Your glory is boundless, and you are the one who helps us cross the ocean of existence. This Aarti is a symbol of our devotion at your feet.
