History and Legend :
An intriguing legend is described to legitimise separate dwelling sanctuaries, far away from one another, for Rukmini and her better half Krishna. It is said that in line with sage Durvasa (who was prestigious for his irritability and giving condemnations) Krishna and Rukmini pulled a chariot taking sage Durvasa to their home for supper. Coming, when Rukmini requested water to extinguish her thirst, Krishna drew Ganges water, by pushing the ground with his toe, for her to drink. Rukmini extinguished her thirst with the Ganges water. However, Durvasa felt offended as Rukmini didn’t have the politeness to bring to the table him water to drink. He, in this way, reviled her that she would live independently from her husband.
