Legend

Lord Shiva was asked by Goddess Parvati to explain the different Teerths (sacred lakes/ponds) and gods in Kashi. She was informed by Lord Shiva that all Lings had Teerth-based celestial abilities.

Avadhdooteshwar Teerth and Shiv Ling are located somewhere to the north of Visweshwar. Those who adore this Ling will undoubtedly achieve enlightenment. In the context of today, this can refer to receiving an excellent education. It is said that this ling is close to Pasupateshwar Ling. (Chapter 97 of Kashi Khand)
