Banashankari Temple has situated close to Kanakapura Road in Southern Bangalore. It is perhaps the most famous spots of love in Bangalore City. Sri Banashankari Devi is otherwise called Shakambari. History and Legend :

The Temple of Banashankari Amma was initially established during the seventh century by the Chalukyas. The divine nature Banashankari was the Bhagwaan of their home. This picture of the Banashankari Amma had been mounted by Jagadekamalla I in 630 AD, as per an engraving. Later the Marathas remade this sanctuary in the eighteenth century. Its new structure currently addresses more than the first Chalukya style, the Vijayanagara style of design.

At first, the sanctuary was built in the Chalukyas Dravidian style. It was remade later during the hours of Vijayanagara and Maratha. The sanctuary has a mandapa of Mukha followed by a mandapa of Ardha prompting the sanctum. A vimana overhangs the Sanctum. The goddess Banashankari is depicted in the sanctum in a sitting posture, with eight blades. She is depicted sitting on a lion, pounding an evil presence underneath her foot. A square tank remains before the mosque. This tank, initially named Tirtha Harishchandra, is presently known as Tirtha Haridra. It is encircled by a way, with three sides of stone mandapas. There are two Deepa Sambas, one on the tank's west bank and the other at the passageway. The light pinnacle close to the tank side is additionally an odd watchman tower.
