Many ancient Shiva Temples could be witnessed in Kashi. one of them is the Bhadreshwar Temple. The importance of this Temple is mentioned in Kashi Khand.
Legend
Lord Shiva was asked by Goddess Parvati to explain the different Teerths (sacred lakes/ponds) and gods in Kashi.
All Lings, according to Lord Shiva, are brimming with Teerths, or celestial energies. There is a cow’s milk-filled pond named Bhadrahritam to the north of Aswiniyeshwa. By taking a bath in this Kund, a devotee receives advantages comparable to donating 1000 donaries (items provided for religious usage) to a qualified individual.
This location has significance on Poornima days when the Poorva Bhadrapad star unites (Poorattati in Tamil). A devotee would undoubtedly enter heaven after death if he bathes in the aforementioned Kund and worships the Bhadreshwar Ling nearby. (Chapter 97 of Kashi Khand). However, the kund is no longer present.
