Varanasi contains nine temples dedicated to Goddess Gauri’s nine forms: Mukhnirmalika Gauri, Jyeshta Gauri, Saubhagya Gauri, Shringar Gauri, Vishalakshi Gauri, Lalita Gauri, Bhavani Gauri, Mangla Gauri, and Mahalaxmi Gauri. Probably the only city in India with such a distinction. It is said that by seeing Goddess Gauri during Vasantik Navratri, devotees can achieve happiness, wealth, and tranquility, as well as be cleansed of their sins.
During Vasantik Navratri, worshipping Goddess Nav Gauri is of vital importance. During this, Goddess Gauri is worshipped in nine different forms, beginning with Mukh Nirmalika Gauri on the first day (Pratipada). During Vasantik Navratri, nine different forms of Gauri are adored. On Vasantik Navratri’s first day, Mukhi Nirmalika Gauri is worshipped in Kashi.
Gauri Yatra is advised in Kashi Khand, Chapter 100. (religious tour of Gauri temples). After Amavasya, this Yatra is to be performed (3 rd day after Amavasya). Devotees are recommended to worship Mukhnirmalika Gauri and take a bath in the Gopreksha Teerth. Mukhnirmalika Gauri worshippers will have a variety of happiness and wealth in life.
