Vimal Aditya is a form of lord suya which is established in Varanasi. This temple is popular because of its ancient history. A long time back, there was a Kshatriya named Vimal, who used to live in the hilly areas with his family. Due to some wrongdoings at the time of his ancestral birth, he was suffering from a disease called, Leprosy.
To get cured he decided to go to Kashi, leaving his family and belongings behind. When he came to Kashi he started praying to lord Surya adherently. He performed all rituals with true devotion toward Lord Surya. Lord Surya was overwhelmed by his constant prayers and devotion and decided to appear before him.
He blessed Vimal and cured his disease. He asked Vimal to seek a boon, where Vimal appealed to Lord Surya that all his devotees should never be afflicted by this dreaded disease. They should not face any sort of difficulties in their life. Lord Surya granted accordingly and stated that all the devotees will know him in a form of Vimal Aditya at that place.
