जाने किस—किसका ख़्याल आया है
इस समंदर में उबाल आया है
एक बच्चा था हवा का झोंका
साफ़ पानी को खंगाल आया है
एक ढेला तो वहीं अटका था
एक तू और उछाल आया है
कल तो निकला था बहुत सज—धज के
आज लौटा तो निढाल आया है
ये नज़र है कि कोई मौसम है
ये सबा है कि वबाल आया है
इस अँधेरे में दिया रखना था
तू उजाले में बाल आया है
हमने सोचा था जवाब आएगा
एक बेहूदा सवाल आया है

ye nazar hai ki koee mausam hai
ye saba hai ki vabaal aaya hai
is andhere mein diya rakhana tha
too ujaale mein baal aaya hai
hamane socha tha javaab aaega
ek behooda savaal aaya hai

this sea has boiled
there was a baby gust of wind
clean water has been discovered
a lump was stuck there
