बाएँ से उड़के दाईं दिशा को गरुड़ गया
कैसा शगुन हुआ है कि बरगद उखड़ गया
इन खँडहरों में होंगी तेरी सिसकियाँ ज़रूर
इन खँडहरों की ओर सफ़र आप मुड़ गया
बच्चे छलाँग मार के आगे निकल गये
रेले में फँस के बाप बिचारा बिछुड़ गया
दुख को बहुत सहेज के रखना पड़ा हमें
सुख तो किसी कपूर की टिकिया-सा उड़ गया
लेकर उमंग संग चले थे हँसी—खुशी
पहुँचे नदी के घाट तो मेला उजड़ गया
जिन आँसुओं का सीधा तअल्लुक़ था पेट से
उन आँसुओं के साथ तेरा नाम जुड़ गया.
baain se uḍake daain disha ko garuḍ gaya
kaisa shagun hua hain ki baragad ukhaḍ gaya
in khanḍaharon main hogi teri sisakiyaa jaroor
in khanḍaharon ki oor safar aap mood gaya
bacche chalaang maar ke aage nikal gaye
rele main phans ke baap bichara bichuḍ gaya
dukh ko bahut saheja ke rakhana paḍa hamain
sukh to kisi kapur ki ṭikiya-sa uḍa gaya
lekar umang sang chale the hansi—khushi
pahunche nadi ke ghaṭ to mela ujaḍ gaya
jeen aasuon ka sidha taalluk tha peṭ se
un aasuon ke saath tera naam juḍ gaya.
