History taught to us most of the time is not a mirror but a whitewashed history with monochromatic narration. Therefore, Vikram Sampath chose to be that mirror for history that has to be reflected by many individuals to attain multiple narratives of history.

Vikram Sampath is a prominent Indian historian, archivist, curator, author, and musician. He began his historical (pun intended) career by achieving a Doctorate in history and a Doctor of musical arts from the University of Queensland. Vikram Sampath’s first book ‘Wadiyar Dynasty of Mysore’, published in 2008 followed by biographies of Gauhar Jaan and VD Sarvakar respectively has exhibited his courage to speak harsh yet meaningful truths. During various interviews, he had spoken about political untouchability as a hindrance and how considerably he believes in ‘truthifying’ history.

Vikram Sampath was awarded Yuva Puraskar in English Literature from Sahitya Akademi and was selected as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He also worked as an Executive Director of the Bangalore regional center of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. He established Bangalore Lit Fest and Zee Group’s Arth: Cultural Fest, forums to discuss what has to be communicated.
