Seeds require optimal growing conditions like soil rich in organic matter, adequate water and proper sunlight. In case of seeds of trees, it is easier to first germinate them at home and create saplings which can later be planted at your chosen location.

The factor which is the most important while selecting a seed is the location and the area it covers.

1. If you wish to grow in containers on your terrace and balcony, vegetable seeds are your best bet.

2. Second factor you must take into account is the amount of sunlight they would be getting. Vegetables like beets, broccoli, cabbage, garlic, green onions, peas, carrots, spinach can grow in partial shade whereas tomatoes, brinjals, beans, okra, peppers, gourds require full sunlight.

3. If you have a small space in your garden you can grow small plants and shrubs like curry leaves, papayas, mulberry, lemon, Pomegranate, jasmine etc.

4. If you have a large space which gets ample sunlight you can go for trees native to your region like mangoes, neem, Ashoka, arjun, teak, sheesham etc.
