हे भारत! जब-जब धर्म की हानि और अधर्म की वृद्धि होती है, तब-तब ही मैं अपने रूप को रचता हूँ अर्थात साकार रूप से लोगों के सम्मुख प्रकट होता हूँ॥7॥

Hindi Translation

जब-जब धर्म की हानि होती है और अधर्म अपना सिर ऊँचा करता है, तब-तब मैं अपने रूप को स्थापित करता हूँ।

English Translation

Whenever there is a decline of righteousness and a rise of unrighteousness, I manifest Myself to restore balance and uphold justice. Whenever there is injustice, disorder, immorality, and irregularity in society, I come forth in My power to remove it and re-establish righteousness.

इस आत्माको शस्त्र काट नहीं सकते, आग जला नहीं सकती, जल गला नहीं सकता और वायु सूखा नहीं सकता।

English Translation

No weapon can cut the soul into pieces, nor can it be burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind.

English Translation

Of this universe, I am the Father; I am also the Mother, the Sustainer, and the Grandsire. I am the purifier, the goal of knowledge, the sacred syllable Om. I am the Ṛig Veda, Sāma Veda, and the Yajur Veda.||17||

जाननेयोग्य,पवित्र ओंकार,ऋग्वेद, सामवेद और यजुर्वेद भी मैं ही हूँ। इस सम्पूर्ण जगत्का पिता,धाता,माता, पितामह, गति,भर्ता, प्रभु,साक्षी, निवास,आश्रय,सुहृद्,उत्पत्ति,प्रलय, स्थान,निधान तथा अविनाशी बीज भी मैं ही हूँ।।17।।

अर्जुन ने कहा- हे पुरुषोत्तम! वह ब्रह्म क्या है? अध्यात्म क्या है? कर्म क्या है? अधिभूत नाम से क्या कहा गया है और अधिदैव किसको कहते हैं |

Arjuna said: What is that Brahman? What is Adhyatma? What is action, O best among men? What is declared to be Adhibhuta? And what is Adhidaiva said to be?

कर्मों के फल में मेरी स्पृहा नहीं है, इसलिए मुझे कर्म लिप्त नहीं करते- इस प्रकार जो मुझे तत्व से जान लेता है, वह भी कर्मों से नहीं बँधता॥14॥

श्रीभगवान् ने कहा रजोगुण में उत्पन्न हुई यह कामना है यही क्रोध है यह महाशना (जिसकी भूख बड़ी हो) और महापापी है इसे ही तुम यहाँ (इस जगत् में) शत्रु जानो।

English Translation

The Supreme Lord said: It is lust alone, which is born of contact with the mode of passion, and later transformed into anger. Know this as the sinful, all-devouring enemy in the world.

Hindi Translation

साधुओं(भक्तों) की रक्षा करने के लिये पाप कर्म करने वालों का विनाश करने के लिये और धर्म की भली भाँति स्थापना करने के लिये मैं युग युग में प्रकट हुआ करता हूँ।

English Translation

To protect the righteous, to annihilate the wicked, and to reestablish the principles of dharma I appear on this earth, age after age.

अगर तू सब पापियों से भी अधिक पापी है तो भी तू ज्ञानरूपी नौका के द्वारा निःसन्देह सम्पूर्ण पाप समुद्रसे अच्छी तरह तर जायगा।

English Translation

Even those who are considered the most immoral of all sinners can cross over this ocean of material existence by seating themselves in the boat of divine knowledge.

मेरे द्वारा गुणों और कर्मों के विभागपूर्वक चारों वर्णों की रचना की गयी है। उस(सृष्टिरचना आदि) का कर्ता होनेपर भी मुझ अव्यय परमेश्वरको तू अकर्ता जान। कारण कि कर्मों के फल में मेरी स्पृहा नहीं है इसलिये मुझे कर्म लिप्त नहीं करते। इस प्रकार जो मुझे तत्त्व से जान लेता है वह भी कर्मोंसे नहीं बँधता।

The four categories of occupations were created by me according to people’s qualities and activities. Although I am the creator of this system, know me to be the non-doer and eternal.

सुख–सुख, दुःखे-दुख में; समेकृत्वा-समभाव से; लाभ-अलाभौ लाभ तथा हानि; जय-अजयौ-विजय तथा पराजयः ततः-तत्पश्चात; युद्धाय युद्ध के लिए; युज्यस्व-तैयार हो जाओ; न कभी नहीं; एवम्-इस प्रकार; पापम्-पाप; अवाप्स्यसि-अर्जित करेंगे।

Do thou fight for the sake of fighting, without considering happiness or distress, loss or gain, victory or defeat – and by so doing you shall never incur sin.

And as many gold coins. And unto me, you have purposed to give twice as much, as also a car of gold and a couple of horses fleet as thought. If you enquirest now, you will soon learn.

कर्म पर ही तुम्हारा अधिकार है, लेकिन कर्म के फलों में कभी नहीं… इसलिए कर्म को फल के लिए मत करो और न ही काम करने में तुम्हारी आसक्ति हो।

English Translation

You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction.

Hindi Translation

क्रोध से उत्पन्न होता है मोह और मोह से स्मृति विभ्रम। स्मृति के भ्रमित होने पर बुद्धि का नाश होता है और बुद्धि के नाश होने से वह मनुष्य नष्ट हो जाता है।

English Translation

Anger leads to clouding of judgment, which results in bewilderment of the memory. When the memory is bewildered, the intellect gets destroyed; and when the intellect is destroyed, one is ruined.

श्रेष्ठ मनुष्य जो-जो आचरण करता है, दूसरे मनुष्य वैसा-वैसा ही आचरण करते हैं। वह जो कुछ प्रमाण  देता है,  दूसरे मनुष्य उसीके अनुसार आचरण करते हैं।

अगर युद्धमें तू मारा जायगा तो तुझे स्वर्गकी प्राप्ति होगी और अगर युद्धमें तू जीत जायगा तो पृथ्वीका राज्य भोगेगा। अतः हे कुन्तीनन्दन! तू युद्धके लिये निश्चय करके खड़ा हो जा।

युद्ध में मरकर तुम स्वर्ग प्राप्त करोगे या जीतकर पृथ्वी को भोगोगे; इसलिय, हे कौन्तेय ! युद्ध का निश्चय कर तुम खड़े हो जाओ।।

Slain thou shalt win Heaven, victorious thou shalt enjoy the earth; therefore arise, O son of Kunti, resolved upon battle.

ହତୋ ବା ପ୍ରାପସ୍ୟସି ସ୍ବର୍ଗଂ ଜିତ୍ଵା ବା ଭୋକ୍ଷସେ ମହୀମ୍। ତସ୍ମାଦୁତ୍ତିଷ୍ଠ କୌନ୍ତେୟ ଯୁଦ୍ଧୟ କୃତନିଶ୍ଚୟଃ।।

ସ୍ୱଗ ,ଭୂମଣ୍ଡଳ ରାଜ୍ୟ ଭେଗକରିଵ,ସକ୍କଳ୍ପ ବଦ୍ଧ ହୁଅ।

श्रद्धावान् तत्पर और जितेन्द्रिय पुरुष ज्ञान प्राप्त करता है। ज्ञान को प्राप्त करके शीघ्र ही वह परम शान्ति को प्राप्त होता है।

English Translation

Those whose faith is deep and who have practiced controlling their mind and senses attain divine knowledge. Through such transcendental knowledge, they quickly attain everlasting supreme peace.

Elevate yourself through the power of your mind, and not degrade yourself, for the mind can be the friend and also the enemy of the self.
