कामस्य नेन्द्रियप्रीतिर्लाभो जीवेत यावता।
जीवस्य तत्त्वजिज्ञासा नार्थो यश्चेह कर्मभिः॥१०॥
Kāmasya nendriyaprītirlābho jīveta yāvatā|
Jīvasya tattvajijñāsā nārtho yaśceha karmabhiḥ||10||
भावार्थ - Translations
As long as (yāvatā) one is alive (jīveta), the gain or fruit (lābhaḥ) of pleasure --also, "desire"-- (kāmasya) must not be (na) the satisfaction (prītiḥ) of the senses (indriya). Here --in this world-- (iha), (all) activities --karma-s-- (karmabhiḥ) of a living being (jīvasya) must not (na) (have any other) object (arthaḥ) but (yaḥ ca) desiring to know (jijñāsā) the (Supreme) Principle (tattva)1||10||
