Gomatha Prarthana
The Gomatha Prarthana is a prayer dedicated to the divine essence of the cow, expressing gratitude and seeking blessings for well-being and prosperity.
नमो ब्रह्मण्यदेवाय गो ब्राह्मण हिताय च
namō brahmaṇyadēvāya gō brāhmaṇa hitāya ca
Salutations to the divine Brahman, to the cow for the welfare of the Brahmanas,
जगद्धिताय कृष्णाय गोविन्दाय नमो नमः
jagaddhitāya kr̥ṣṇāya gōvindāya namō namaḥ
Salutations again and again to Krishna, to Govinda, for the welfare of the world.
1 कीर्तनं श्रवणं दानं दर्शनं चा:'पि पार्धिव
1 kīrtanaṁ śravaṇaṁ dānaṁ darśanaṁ cā:'pi pārdhiva

गवां प्रशस्यते वीर सर्वपापहरं शिवम्
gavāṁ praśasyatē vīra sarvapāpaharaṁ śivam
Singing, listening, giving, and seeing are indeed praised by the brave,
2 घृतक्षीरप्रदा गावो घृतयोन्यो घृतोद्भवाः
2 ghr̥takṣīrapradā gāvō ghr̥tayōnyō ghr̥tōdbhavāḥ
The cow is the remover of all sins, it is auspicious.
घृतनद्यो घृतावर्तास्तामे सन्तु सदा गृहे
ghr̥tanadyō ghr̥tāvartāstāmē santu sadā gr̥hē

3 घृतं मे हृदये नित्यं घृतं नाभ्यां प्रतिष्टितं
3 ghr̥taṁ mē hr̥dayē nityaṁ ghr̥taṁ nābhyāṁ pratiṣṭitaṁ
Cows that give ghee and milk, born from ghee,
घृतं सर्वेषु गात्रेषु घृतं मे मनसिस्थितम्
ghr̥taṁ sarvēṣu gātrēṣu ghr̥taṁ mē manasisthitam
May those who flow like ghee always reside in the home.
4 गावो ममाग्रतो नित्यं गावः पृष्ठत एव च
4 gāvō mamāgratō nityaṁ gāvaḥ pr̥ṣṭhata ēva ca

गावो मे सर्वतश्चैव गवां मध्येवसाम्यहम्
gāvō mē sarvataścaiva gavāṁ madhyēvasāmyaham
May ghee be in my heart always, may ghee be established in my navel,
5 इत्याचम्य जपेत्सायं प्रातश्च पुरुषस्सदा
5 ityācamya japētsāyaṁ prātaśca puruṣassadā
May ghee be in all my limbs, may ghee reside in my mind.
यदह्नात्कुरुतेपापं तस्मात् स परिमुच्यते
yadahnātkurutēpāpaṁ tasmāt sa parimucyatē
