Sami Vruksha Prarthana
The Sami Vruksha Prarthana is a prayer dedicated to the Shami tree, seeking its blessings for strength and protection in life.
(दशम्यां सायाह्नॆ शमीपूजां कृत्वा-तदनंतरं ध्यायॆत्)
(daśamyāṁ sāyāhne śamīpūjāṁ kr̥tvā-tadanaṁtaraṁ dhyāyet) śamī śamaya te pāpaṁ śamī śatru vināśinī
O Shami, remove my sins; O Shami, destroy my enemies.
शमी शमय तॆ पापं शमी शत्रु विनाशिनी ।
arjunasya dhanurdhārī rāmasya priyadarśini
You are the bow-bearer of Arjuna, the beloved of Rama.
अर्जुनस्य धनुर्धारी रामस्य प्रियदर्शिनि ॥ १ ॥
śamīṁ kamalapatrākṣīṁ śamīṁ kaṁṭakadhāriṇīm
I worship the Shami with lotus-eyed form, the one who bears thorns.
शमीं कमलपत्राक्षीं शमीं कंटकधारिणीम् ।
ārohatu śamīṁ lakṣmīṁ nr̥ṇāmāyuṣyavardhanīm
May the Shami, the goddess of wealth, elevate the lifespan of men.
आरॊहतु शमीं लक्ष्मीं नृणामायुष्यवर्धनीम् ॥ २ ॥
namo viśvāsavr̥kṣāya pārthaśastrāstradhāriṇe
Salutations to the universal tree, the wielder of the bow and arrows, O Partha.
नमॊ विश्वासवृक्षाय पार्थशस्त्रास्त्रधारिणॆ ।
tvattaḥ patraṁ pratīkṣyāmi sadā me vijayī bhava
I always await your leaves; may I always be victorious.
त्वत्तः पत्रं प्रतीक्ष्यामि सदा मॆ विजयी भव ॥ ३ ॥
dharmātmā satyasaṁdhaśca rāmo dāśarathiryadi
If Rama, the righteous one, the one who is true to his word,
धर्मात्मा सत्यसंधश्च रामॊ दाशरथिर्यदि ।
pauruṣe cā:'pratidvaṁdvaścarainaṁ jahirāvaṇim
With valor, defeats this Ravana,
पौरुषॆ चाऽप्रतिद्वंद्वश्चरैनं जहिरावणिम् ॥ ४ ॥
amaṁgaḷānāṁ praśamīṁ duṣkr̥tasya ca nāśinīm
I take refuge in the auspicious Shami, the remover of obstacles, the destroyer of misdeeds.
अमंगळानां प्रशमीं दुष्कृतस्य च नाशिनीम् ।
duḥsvapnahāriṇīṁ dhanyāṁ prapadye:'haṁ śamīṁ śubhām
Blessed is the Shami, the one who removes bad dreams; I surrender to you.
