Sri Bhairavi Kavacham (Trailokyavijayam)
The Sri Bhairavi Kavacham consists of verses that invoke the protective energies of Goddess Bhairavi, seeking her blessings for safety and success.
दशमहाविद्या स्तोत्राणि
śrī dēvyuvāca
The goddess spoke:
श्री देव्युवाच ।
bhairavyāḥ sakalā vidyāḥ śrutāścādhigatā mayā
All the knowledge of Bhairavi has been heard and attained by me.
भैरव्याः सकला विद्याः श्रुताश्चाधिगता मया । साम्प्रतं श्रोतुमिच्छामि कवचं यत्पुरोदितम् ॥ १ ॥
sāmprataṁ śrōtumicchāmi kavacaṁ yatpurōditam
Now I wish to hear the armor that has been proclaimed.
त्रैलोक्यविजयं नाम शस्त्रास्त्रविनिवारणम् । त्वत्तः परतरो नाथ कः कृपां कर्तुमर्हति ॥ २ ॥
trailōkyavijayaṁ nāma śastrāstravinivāraṇam
It is called Trailokyavijaya, a weapon that dispels all weapons.
ईश्वर उवाच । शृणु पार्वति वक्ष्यामि सुन्दरि प्राणवल्लभे ।
tvattaḥ paratarō nātha kaḥ kr̥pāṁ kartumarhati
Who else but you, my Lord, is capable of showing such grace?
त्रैलोक्यविजयं नाम शस्त्रास्त्रविनिवारकम् ॥ ३ ॥
īśvara uvāca
Ishvara said:
पठित्वा धारयित्वेदं त्रैलोक्यविजयी भवेत् ।
śr̥ṇu pārvati vakṣyāmi sundari prāṇavallabhē
Listen, O Parvati, I will speak, beautiful one, beloved of my life.
जघान सकलान्दैत्यान्यद्धृत्वा मधुसूदनः ॥ ४ ॥
trailōkyavijayaṁ nāma śastrāstravinivārakam
Trailokyavijaya is the weapon that dispels all weapons.
ब्रह्मा सृष्टिं वितनुते यद्धृत्वाभीष्टदायकम् ।
paṭhitvā dhārayitvēdaṁ trailōkyavijayī bhavēt
By reading and holding this, one will become victorious in all three worlds.
धनाधिपः कुबेरोऽपि वासवस्त्रिदशेश्वरः ॥ ५ ॥
jaghāna sakalāndaityānyaddhr̥tvā madhusūdanaḥ
Madhusudana defeated all the demons by holding this.
यस्य प्रसादादीशोऽहं त्रैलोक्यविजयी विभुः ।
brahmā sr̥ṣṭiṁ vitanutē yaddhr̥tvābhīṣṭadāyakam
Brahma creates the universe by holding this, granting all desires.
न देयं परशिष्येभ्योऽसाधकेभ्यः कदाचन ॥ ६ ॥
dhanādhipaḥ kubērō:'pi vāsavastridaśēśvaraḥ
Kubera, the lord of wealth, and Vasu, the lord of the gods,
पुत्रेभ्यः किमथान्येभ्यो दद्याच्चेन्मृत्युमाप्नुयात् ।
yasya prasādādīśō:'haṁ trailōkyavijayī vibhuḥ
By whose grace I, the victorious one of the three worlds, am powerful.
ऋषिस्तु कवचस्यास्य दक्षिणामूर्तिरेव च ॥ ७ ॥
na dēyaṁ paraśiṣyēbhyō:'sādhakēbhyaḥ kadācana
Never should this be given to other disciples or practitioners.
विराट् छन्दो जगद्धात्री देवता बालभैरवी ।
putrēbhyaḥ kimathānyēbhyō dadyāccēnmr̥tyumāpnuyāt
What to speak of sons, if one gives it, one may attain death.
धर्मार्थकाममोक्षेषु विनियोगः प्रकीर्तितः ॥ ८ ॥
r̥ṣistu kavacasyāsya dakṣiṇāmūrtirēva ca
The sage is indeed the armor of this, and the southern aspect.
अधरो बिन्दुमानाद्यः कामः शक्तिशशीयुतः ।
virāṭ chandō jagaddhātrī dēvatā bālabhairavī
The cosmic hymn is the sustainer of the world, the deity is the youthful Bhairavi.
भृगुर्मनुस्वरयुतः सर्गो बीजत्रयात्मकः ॥ ९ ॥
dharmārthakāmamōkṣēṣu viniyōgaḥ prakīrtitaḥ
In the pursuits of righteousness, wealth, desire, and liberation, the allocation is proclaimed.
बालैषा मे शिरः पातु बिन्दुनादयुतापि सा ।
adharō bindumānādyaḥ kāmaḥ śaktiśaśīyutaḥ
The base is the point of desire, endowed with the power of the moon.
भालं पातु कुमारीशा सर्गहीना कुमारिका ॥ १० ॥
bhr̥gurmanusvarayutaḥ sargō bījatrayātmakaḥ
The creation is associated with the sage and the human, consisting of the essence of the three seeds.
दृशौ पातु च वाग्बीजं कर्णयुग्मं सदावतु ।
bālaiṣā mē śiraḥ pātu bindunādayutāpi sā
May this youthful one protect my head, along with the point of origin.
कामबीजं सदा पातु घ्राणयुग्मं परावतु ॥ ११ ॥
bhālaṁ pātu kumārīśā sargahīnā kumārikā
May the youthful goddess protect my forehead, devoid of creation.
सरस्वतीप्रदा बाला जिह्वां पातु शुचिप्रभा ।
dr̥śau pātu ca vāgbījaṁ karṇayugmaṁ sadāvatu
May my eyes be protected, and may the seed of speech always guard my ears.
हस्रैं कण्ठं हसकलरीं स्कन्धौ पातु हस्रौ भुजौ ॥ १२ ॥
kāmabījaṁ sadā pātu ghrāṇayugmaṁ parāvatu
May the seed of desire always protect my nostrils.
पञ्चमी भैरवी पातु करौ हसैं सदावतु ।
sarasvatīpradā bālā jihvāṁ pātu śuciprabhā
May the youthful one, who grants knowledge, protect my tongue with her pure radiance.
हृदयं हसकलीं वक्षः पातु हसौः स्तनौ मम ॥ १३ ॥
hasraiṁ kaṇṭhaṁ hasakalarīṁ skandhau pātu hasrau bhujau
May the joyful one protect my throat, and may the joyful ones guard my shoulders and arms.
पातु सा भैरवी देवी चैतन्यरूपिणी मम ।
pañcamī bhairavī pātu karau hasaiṁ sadāvatu
May the fifth goddess Bhairavi protect my hands, and may the joyful ones always guard me.
हस्रैं पातु सदा पार्श्वयुग्मं हसकलरीं सदा ॥ १४ ॥
hr̥dayaṁ hasakalīṁ vakṣaḥ pātu hasauḥ stanau mama
May my heart be protected by the joyful one, and may my chest be guarded by joy.
कुक्षिं पातु हसौर्मध्ये भैरवी भुवि दुर्लभा ।
pātu sā bhairavī dēvī caitanyarūpiṇī mama
May that goddess Bhairavi, who embodies consciousness, protect me.
ऐं ईं ओं वं मध्यदेशं बीजविद्या सदावतु ॥ १५ ॥
hasraiṁ pātu sadā pārśvayugmaṁ hasakalarīṁ sadā
May the joyful one always protect my sides, and may the joyful ones always guard me.
हस्रैं पृष्ठं सदा पातु नाभिं हसकलह्रीं सदा ।
kukṣiṁ pātu hasaurmadhyē bhairavī bhuvi durlabhā
May the goddess Bhairavi protect my abdomen, which is difficult to attain in this world.
पातु हसौं करौ पातु षट्कूटा भैरवी मम ॥ १६ ॥
aiṁ īṁ ōṁ vaṁ madhyadēśaṁ bījavidyā sadāvatu
May the seed knowledge of Aiṁ, Īṁ, and Ōṁ always protect the central region.
सहस्रैं सक्थिनी पातु सहसकलरीं सदावतु ।
hasraiṁ pr̥ṣṭhaṁ sadā pātu nābhiṁ hasakalahrīṁ sadā
May the goddess Hasakalahrī protect my back and my navel always.
गुह्यदेशं हस्रौं पातु जानुनी भैरवी मम ॥ १७ ॥
pātu hasauṁ karau pātu ṣaṭkūṭā bhairavī mama
May the goddess Bhairavi protect my hands and the six points always.
सम्पत्प्रदा सदा पातु हैं जङ्घे हसक्लीं पदौ ।
sahasraiṁ sakthinī pātu sahasakalarīṁ sadāvatu
May the goddess Sahasrakalarī always protect my strength.
पातु हंसौः सर्वदेहं भैरवी सर्वदावतु ॥ १८ ॥
guhyadēśaṁ hasrauṁ pātu jānunī bhairavī mama
May the goddess Bhairavi protect my knees in the secret region.
हसैं मामवतु प्राच्यां हरक्लीं पावकेऽवतु ।
sampatpradā sadā pātu haiṁ jaṅghē hasaklīṁ padau
May the goddess who grants prosperity always protect my thighs and feet.
हसौं मे दक्षिणे पातु भैरवी चक्रसंस्थिता ॥ १९ ॥
pātu haṁsauḥ sarvadēhaṁ bhairavī sarvadāvatu
May the goddess Bhairavi protect my entire body at all times.
ह्रीं क्लीं ल्वें मां सदा पातु निरृत्यां चक्रभैरवी ।
hasaiṁ māmavatu prācyāṁ haraklīṁ pāvakē:'vatu
May the goddess Haraklī protect me in the east.
क्रीं क्रीं क्रीं पातु वायव्ये हूं हूं पातु सदोत्तरे ॥ २० ॥
hasauṁ mē dakṣiṇē pātu bhairavī cakrasaṁsthitā
May the goddess Bhairavi, who resides in the wheel, protect my right side.
ह्रीं ह्रीं पातु सदैशान्ये दक्षिणे कालिकावतु ।
hrīṁ klīṁ lvēṁ māṁ sadā pātu nirr̥tyāṁ cakrabhairavī
May the goddess Cakrabhaṭavī always protect me in the direction of the south.
ऊर्ध्वं प्रागुक्तबीजानि रक्षन्तु मामधः स्थले ॥ २१ ॥
krīṁ krīṁ krīṁ pātu vāyavyē hūṁ hūṁ pātu sadōttarē
May the seeds of the upward direction protect my lower region.
दिग्विदिक्षु स्वाहा पातु कालिका खड्गधारिणी ।
hrīṁ hrīṁ pātu sadaiśānyē dakṣiṇē kālikāvatu
May the goddess Kālī, who wields a sword, protect me in all directions.
ओं ह्रीं स्त्रीं हूं फट् सा तारा सर्वत्र मां सदावतु ॥ २२ ॥
ūrdhvaṁ prāguktabījāni rakṣantu māmadhaḥ sthalē
Om, Hrim, Strim, Hum, Phat, may the star protect me always.
सङ्ग्रामे कानने दुर्गे तोये तरङ्गदुस्तरे ।
digvidikṣu svāhā pātu kālikā khaḍgadhāriṇī
In the battle, in the forest, O Durga, in the difficult waves,
खड्गकर्त्रिधरा सोग्रा सदा मां परिरक्षतु ॥ २३ ॥
ōṁ hrīṁ strīṁ hūṁ phaṭ sā tārā sarvatra māṁ sadāvatu
may the wielder of the sword always protect me.
इति ते कथितं देवि सारात्सारतरं महत् ।
saṅgrāmē kānanē durgē tōyē taraṅgadustarē
Thus it has been said, O Goddess, the essence of all that is great,
त्रैलोक्यविजयं नाम कवचं परमाद्भुतम् ॥ २४ ॥
khaḍgakartridharā sōgrā sadā māṁ parirakṣatu
the name of the armor is "Tri-lokya-vijaya," most wonderful.
यः पठेत्प्रयतो भूत्वा पूजायाः फलमाप्नुयात् ।
iti tē kathitaṁ dēvi sārātsārataraṁ mahat
Whoever reads this with effort will attain the fruit of worship.
स्पर्धामूद्धूय भवने लक्ष्मीर्वाणी वसेत्ततः ॥ २५ ॥
trailōkyavijayaṁ nāma kavacaṁ paramādbhutam
Having raised the challenge in the house, may Lakshmi and Vani reside there.
यः शत्रुभीतो रणकातरो वा
yaḥ paṭhētprayatō bhūtvā pūjāyāḥ phalamāpnuyāt
Whoever is fearful of enemies, whether in battle or
भीतो वने वा सलिलालये वा । वादे सभायां प्रतिवादिनो वा
spardhāmūddhūya bhavanē lakṣmīrvāṇī vasēttataḥ
afraid in the forest or by the water's edge,
रक्षःप्रकोपाद्ग्रहसकुलाद्वा ॥ २६ ॥
yaḥ śatrubhītō raṇakātarō vā bhītō vanē vā salilālayē vā
in the assembly against the disputants,
प्रचण्डदण्डाक्षमनाच्च भीतो
vādē sabhāyāṁ prativādinō vā rakṣaḥprakōpādgrahasakulādvā
from the wrath of demons or from a fierce punishment,
गुरोः प्रकोपादपि कृच्छ्रसाध्यात् । अभ्यर्च्य देवीं प्रपठेत्त्रिसन्ध्यं
pracaṇḍadaṇḍākṣamanācca bhītō gurōḥ prakōpādapi kr̥cchrasādhyāt
fearing even from the anger of the guru,
स स्यान्महेशप्रतिमो जयी च ॥ २७ ॥
abhyarcya dēvīṁ prapaṭhēttrisandhyaṁ sa syānmahēśapratimō jayī ca
after worshipping the Goddess and reciting at the three junctions,
त्रैलोक्यविजयं नाम कवचं मन्मुखोदितम् ।
trailōkyavijayaṁ nāma kavacaṁ manmukhōditam
he will be like Maheshvara, victorious.
विलिख्य भूर्जगुटिकां स्वर्णस्थां धारयेद्यदि ॥ २८ ॥
vilikhya bhūrjaguṭikāṁ svarṇasthāṁ dhārayēdyadi
The name of the armor is "Tri-lokya-vijaya," inspired by my words.
कण्ठे वा दक्षिणे बाहौ त्रैलोक्यविजयी भवेत् ।
kaṇṭhē vā dakṣiṇē bāhau trailōkyavijayī bhavēt
If one writes it on a birch bark and keeps it in gold,
तद्गात्रं प्राप्य शस्त्राणि भवन्ति कुसुमानि च ॥ २९ ॥
tadgātraṁ prāpya śastrāṇi bhavanti kusumāni ca
or wears it around the neck or on the right arm, he will be victorious in all three worlds.
लक्ष्मीः सरस्वती तस्य निवसेद्भवने मुखे ।
lakṣmīḥ sarasvatī tasya nivasēdbhavanē mukhē
Upon obtaining that body, weapons become flowers.
एतत्कवचमज्ञात्वा यो जपेद्भैरवीं पराम् । बालां वा प्रजपेद्विद्वान्दरिद्रो मृत्युमाप्नुयात् ॥ ३० ॥
ētatkavacamajñātvā yō japēdbhairavīṁ parām
Lakshmi and Sarasvati reside in that house.
इति श्रीरुद्रयामले देवीश्वरसंवादे त्रैलोक्यविजयं नाम भैरवी कवचं समाप्तम् । दशमहाविद्या स्तोत्राणि
bālāṁ vā prajapēdvidvāndaridrō mr̥tyumāpnuyāt
Those who chant the supreme Bhairavi, knowing this armor,
Dasa Mahavidya - दशमहाविद्या
iti śrīrudrayāmalē dēvīśvarasaṁvādē trailōkyavijayaṁ nāma bhairavī kavacaṁ samāptam
Even a poor scholar who chants it will overcome death.
