Sri Kamala Kavacham
This stotra serves as a protective shield for devotees, invoking the blessings of Goddess Kamala for prosperity.
दशमहाविद्या स्तोत्राणि
īśvara uvāca
I shall now speak, O great goddess, the armor that grants all desires,
ईश्वर उवाच ।
atha vakṣyē mahēśāni kavacaṁ sarvakāmadam
By whose mere knowledge one becomes directly the eternal Shiva.
अथ वक्ष्ये महेशानि कवचं सर्वकामदम् । यस्य विज्ञानमात्रेण भवेत्साक्षात्सदाशिवः ॥ १ ॥
yasya vijñānamātrēṇa bhavētsākṣātsadāśivaḥ
Worship is not for him, O goddess of the gods, who merely chants the mantra.
नार्चनं तस्य देवेशि मन्त्रमात्रं जपेन्नरः । स भवेत्पार्वतीपुत्रः सर्वशास्त्रेषु पारगः ।
nārcanaṁ tasya dēvēśi mantramātraṁ japēnnaraḥ
He will become the son of Parvati, well-versed in all scriptures.
विद्यार्थिना सदा सेव्या विशेषे विष्णुवल्लभा ॥ २ ॥
sa bhavētpārvatīputraḥ sarvaśāstrēṣu pāragaḥ
Always to be served by the student of knowledge, especially by the beloved of Vishnu.
अस्याश्चतुरक्षरिविष्णुवनितारूपायाः कवचस्य श्रीभगवान् शिव ऋषिरनुष्टुप्छन्दो, वाग्भवी देवता, वाग्भवं बीजं, लज्जा शक्तिः, रमा कीलकं, कामबीजात्मकं कवचं, मम सुपाण्डित्य कवित्व सर्वसिद्धिसमृद्धये जपे विनियोगः ॥
vidyārthinā sadā sēvyā viśēṣē viṣṇuvallabhā
This four-syllable armor, in the form of the daughter of Vishnu,
अथ कवचम् । ऐङ्कारी मस्तके पातु वाग्भवी सर्वसिद्धिदा ।
asyāścaturakṣariviṣṇuvanitārūpāyāḥ kavacasya śrībhagavān śiva r̥ṣiranuṣṭupchandō, vāgbhavī dēvatā, vāgbhavaṁ bījaṁ, lajjā śaktiḥ, ramā kīlakaṁ, kāmabījātmakaṁ kavacaṁ, mama supāṇḍitya kavitva sarvasiddhisamr̥ddhayē japē viniyōgaḥ
Is composed by the great Lord Shiva, the sage, in the Anushtub meter,
ह्रीं पातु चक्षुषोर्मध्ये चक्षुर्युग्मे च शाङ्करी ॥ १ ॥
atha kavacam
With the goddess of speech as the deity, the seed of speech as the essence,
जिह्वायां मुखवृत्ते च कर्णयोर्गण्डयोर्नसि ।
aiṅkārī mastakē pātu vāgbhavī sarvasiddhidā
Shame as the power, Lakshmi as the key, the armor embodying the seed of desire,
ओष्ठाधरे दन्तपङ्क्तौ तालुमूले हनौ पुनः ॥ २ ॥
hrīṁ pātu cakṣuṣōrmadhyē cakṣuryugmē ca śāṅkarī
For the fulfillment of my excellent poetic prowess, the ritual is prescribed.
पातु मां विष्णुवनिता लक्ष्मीः श्रीवर्णरूपिणी ।
jihvāyāṁ mukhavr̥ttē ca karṇayōrgaṇḍayōrnasi
Now the armor:
कर्णयुग्मे भुजद्वन्द्वे स्तनद्वन्द्वे च पार्वती ॥ ३ ॥
ōṣṭhādharē dantapaṅktau tālumūlē hanau punaḥ
May the goddess of speech protect my head, granting all accomplishments.
हृदये मणिबन्धे च ग्रीवायां पार्श्वयोः पुनः ।
pātu māṁ viṣṇuvanitā lakṣmīḥ śrīvarṇarūpiṇī
May Hrim protect my eyes, in the middle of my eyes and in the pair of eyes, may Shankari protect.
सर्वाङ्गे पातु कामेशी महादेवी समुन्नतिः ॥ ४ ॥
karṇayugmē bhujadvandvē stanadvandvē ca pārvatī
In my tongue, in the movement of my mouth, in my ears, in my cheeks, in my nose,
व्युष्टिः पातु महामाया उत्कृष्टिः सर्वदाऽवतु ।
hr̥dayē maṇibandhē ca grīvāyāṁ pārśvayōḥ punaḥ
May she protect me at my lips, in the row of teeth, at the root of my palate, and again at my chin.
सन्धिं पातु सदा देवी सर्वत्र शम्भुवल्लभा ॥ ५ ॥
sarvāṅgē pātu kāmēśī mahādēvī samunnatiḥ
May the daughter of Vishnu, Lakshmi, who is of the form of beauty, protect me.
वाग्भवी सर्वदा पातु पातु मां हरिगेहिनी ।
vyuṣṭiḥ pātu mahāmāyā utkr̥ṣṭiḥ sarvadā:'vatu
In my ears, in my arms, in my breasts, may Parvati protect me.
रमा पातु सदा देवी पातु माया स्वराट् स्वयम् ॥ ६ ॥
sandhiṁ pātu sadā dēvī sarvatra śambhuvallabhā
In my heart, at my wrist, and in my neck, may she protect me again.
सर्वाङ्गे पातु मां लक्ष्मीर्विष्णुमाया सुरेश्वरी ।
vāgbhavī sarvadā pātu pātu māṁ harigēhinī
May the goddess Kameshī protect all my limbs, and may the great goddess grant me elevation.
विजया पातु भवने जया पातु सदा मम ॥ ७ ॥
ramā pātu sadā dēvī pātu māyā svarāṭ svayam
May the supreme illusion protect me, and may excellence always guard me.
शिवदूती सदा पातु सुन्दरी पातु सर्वदा ।
sarvāṅgē pātu māṁ lakṣmīrviṣṇumāyā surēśvarī
May the goddess Shambhu's beloved protect the union always.
भैरवी पातु सर्वत्र भैरुण्डा सर्वदाऽवतु ॥ ८ ॥
vijayā pātu bhavanē jayā pātu sadā mama
May the goddess Vāgbhavī protect me always, and may the divine Hari protect me.
त्वरिता पातु मां नित्यमुग्रतारा सदाऽवतु ।
śivadūtī sadā pātu sundarī pātu sarvadā
May the goddess Ramā protect me always, and may the supreme illusion protect me.
पातु मां कालिका नित्यं कालरात्रिः सदाऽवतु ॥ ९ ॥
bhairavī pātu sarvatra bhairuṇḍā sarvadā:'vatu
May the goddess Lakshmi, the illusion of Vishnu, the goddess of the gods, protect all my limbs.
नवदुर्गा सदा पातु कामाख्या सर्वदाऽवतु ।
tvaritā pātu māṁ nityamugratārā sadā:'vatu
May victory protect my abode, and may success always be with me.
योगिन्यः सर्वदा पान्तु मुद्राः पान्तु सदा मम ॥ १० ॥
pātu māṁ kālikā nityaṁ kālarātriḥ sadā:'vatu
May the messenger of Shiva protect me always, and may the beautiful one guard me at all times.
मातरः पान्तु देव्यश्च चक्रस्था योगिनीगणाः ।
navadurgā sadā pātu kāmākhyā sarvadā:'vatu
May Bhairavī protect me everywhere, and may Bhairuṇḍā always guard me.
सर्वत्र सर्वकार्येषु सर्वकर्मसु सर्वदा ॥ ११ ॥
yōginyaḥ sarvadā pāntu mudrāḥ pāntu sadā mama
May Tvaritā protect me constantly, and may the fierce star always guard me.
पातु मां देवदेवी च लक्ष्मीः सर्वसमृद्धिदा ।
mātaraḥ pāntu dēvyaśca cakrasthā yōginīgaṇāḥ
May Kālī protect me eternally, and may Kālārātri always guard me.
इति ते कथितं दिव्यं कवचं सर्वसिद्धये ॥ १२ ॥
sarvatra sarvakāryēṣu sarvakarmasu sarvadā
May Navadurga protect me always, and may Kāmākhyā guard me at all times.
यत्र तत्र न वक्तव्यं यदीच्छेदात्मनो हितम् ।
pātu māṁ dēvadēvī ca lakṣmīḥ sarvasamr̥ddhidā
May the yoginis always protect me, and may the seals always guard me.
शठाय भक्तिहीनाय निन्दकाय महेश्वरि ॥ १३ ॥
iti tē kathitaṁ divyaṁ kavacaṁ sarvasiddhayē
May the mothers and the goddesses protect the yogic groups situated in the circles.
न्यूनाङ्गे अतिरिक्ताङ्गे दर्शयेन्न कदाचन ।
yatra tatra na vaktavyaṁ yadīcchēdātmanō hitam
May they protect me in all endeavors, in all actions, and at all times.
न स्तवं दर्शयेद्दिव्यं सन्दर्श्य शिवहा भवेत् ॥ १४ ॥
śaṭhāya bhaktihīnāya nindakāya mahēśvari
May the divine deities and Lakshmi protect me, the giver of all prosperity.
कुलीनाय महोच्छ्राय दुर्गाभक्तिपराय च ।
nyūnāṅgē atiriktāṅgē darśayēnna kadācana
Thus, this divine armor has been narrated for the attainment of all accomplishments.
वैष्णवाय विशुद्धाय दद्यात्कवचमुत्तमम् ॥ १५ ॥
na stavaṁ darśayēddivyaṁ sandarśya śivahā bhavēt
Wherever it is not to be spoken, if it is for one's own benefit.
निजशिष्याय शान्ताय धनिने ज्ञानिने तथा ।
kulīnāya mahōcchrāya durgābhaktiparāya ca
To the deceitful, the faithless, and the slanderer, O great goddess,
दद्यात्कवचमित्युक्तं सर्वतन्त्रसमन्वितम् ॥ १६ ॥
vaiṣṇavāya viśuddhāya dadyātkavacamuttamam
Let it not be revealed at any time, whether in lesser or greater forms.
विलिख्य कवचं दिव्यं स्वयम्भुकुसुमैः शुभैः ।
nijaśiṣyāya śāntāya dhaninē jñāninē tathā
Let not the divine hymn be shown, for the sight of Shiva may be obstructed.
स्वशुक्रैः परशुक्रैश्च नानागन्धसमन्वितैः ॥ १७ ॥
dadyātkavacamityuktaṁ sarvatantrasamanvitam
To the noble, the greatly exalted, devoted to Durga,
गोरोचनाकुङ्कुमेन रक्तचन्दनकेन वा ।
vilikhya kavacaṁ divyaṁ svayambhukusumaiḥ śubhaiḥ
To the pure Vaishnava, let the supreme armor be given.
सुतिथौ शुभयोगे वा श्रवणायां रवेर्दिने ॥ १८ ॥
svaśukraiḥ paraśukraiśca nānāgandhasamanvitaiḥ
To the peaceful disciple, to the wealthy and the knowledgeable,
अश्विन्यां कृत्तिकायां वा फल्गुन्यां वा मघासु च ।
gōrōcanākuṅkumēna raktacandanakēna vā
It is said that the armor should be given, encompassing all scriptures.
पूर्वभाद्रपदायोगे स्वात्यां मङ्गलवासरे ॥ १९ ॥
sutithau śubhayōgē vā śravaṇāyāṁ ravērdinē
By writing this divine armor with auspicious flowers of the self-born,
विलिखेत् प्रपठेत् स्तोत्रं शुभयोगे सुरालये ।
aśvinyāṁ kr̥ttikāyāṁ vā phalgunyāṁ vā maghāsu ca
With one's own and others' pure fragrances,
आयुष्मत्प्रीतियोगे च ब्रह्मयोगे विशेषतः ॥ २० ॥
pūrvabhādrapadāyōgē svātyāṁ maṅgalavāsarē
With cow's urine, saffron, or red sandalwood,
इन्द्रयोगे शुभयोगे शुक्रयोगे तथैव च ।
vilikhēt prapaṭhēt stōtraṁ śubhayōgē surālayē
In auspicious conjunctions on the day of the sun,
कौलवे बालवे चैव वणिजे चैव सत्तमः ॥ २१ ॥
āyuṣmatprītiyōgē ca brahmayōgē viśēṣataḥ
On the days of Ashvini, Krittika, or during Phalguni and Magha.
शून्यागारे श्मशाने वा विजने च विशेषतः ।
indrayōgē śubhayōgē śukrayōgē tathaiva ca
On the auspicious day of Pūrvabhādrapadā, during the month of Śrāvaṇa,
कुमारीं पूजयित्वादौ यजेद्देवीं सनातनीम् ॥ २२ ॥
kaulavē bālavē caiva vaṇijē caiva sattamaḥ
One should write and recite the hymn in the sacred abode of the gods.
मत्स्यमांसैः शाकसूपैः पूजयेत्परदेवताम् ।
śūnyāgārē śmaśānē vā vijanē ca viśēṣataḥ
With the connection of longevity and affection, especially in the practice of Brahman,
घृताद्यैः सोपकरणैः पूपसूपैर्विशेषतः ॥ २३ ॥
kumārīṁ pūjayitvādau yajēddēvīṁ sanātanīm
In the connection with Indra, auspiciousness, and also with Venus.
ब्राह्मणान्भोजायित्वादौ प्रीणयेत्परमेश्वरीम् ।
matsyamāṁsaiḥ śākasūpaiḥ pūjayētparadēvatām
In the Kaula tradition, for the young, and also for the merchant, the best among them,
बहुना किमिहोक्तेन कृते त्वेवं दिनत्रयम् ॥ २४ ॥
ghr̥tādyaiḥ sōpakaraṇaiḥ pūpasūpairviśēṣataḥ
In the empty house, in the cremation ground, or especially in solitude.
तदाधरेन्महारक्षां शङ्करेणाभिभाषितम् ।
brāhmaṇānbhōjāyitvādau prīṇayētparamēśvarīm
After worshipping the maiden, one should invoke the eternal goddess.
मारणद्वेषणादीनि लभते नात्र संशयः ॥ २५ ॥
bahunā kimihōktēna kr̥tē tvēvaṁ dinatrayam
With fish, meat, and vegetables, one should worship the divine being.
स भवेत्पार्वतीपुत्रः सर्वशास्त्रविशारदः ।
tadādharēnmahārakṣāṁ śaṅkarēṇābhibhāṣitam
With ghee and other offerings, especially with flower offerings,
गुरुर्देवो हरः साक्षात्पत्नी तस्य हरप्रिया ॥ २६ ॥
māraṇadvēṣaṇādīni labhatē nātra saṁśayaḥ
One should first feed the Brahmins and then please the Supreme Goddess.
अभेदेन भजेद्यस्तु तस्य सिद्धिरदूरतः ।
sa bhavētpārvatīputraḥ sarvaśāstraviśāradaḥ
What more can be said here? This is done in three days.
सर्वदेवमयीं देवीं सर्वमन्त्रमयीं तथा ॥ २७ ॥
gururdēvō haraḥ sākṣātpatnī tasya harapriyā
Then, by that, the great protection spoken by Śankara is obtained.
सुभक्त्या पूजयेद्यस्तु स भवेत्कमलाप्रियः ।
abhēdēna bhajēdyastu tasya siddhiradūrataḥ
There is no doubt that one achieves freedom from death, hatred, and other afflictions.
रक्तपुष्पैस्तथा गन्धैर्वस्त्रालङ्करणैस्तथा ॥ २८ ॥
sarvadēvamayīṁ dēvīṁ sarvamantramayīṁ tathā
He will become the son of Parvati, well-versed in all scriptures.
भक्त्या यः पूजयेद्देवीं लभते परमां गतिम् ।
subhaktyā pūjayēdyastu sa bhavētkamalāpriyaḥ
The guru, the divine Lord, is directly the consort of His beloved, the goddess.
नारी वा पुरुषो वापि यः पठेत्कवचं शुभम् । मन्त्रसिद्धिः कार्यसिद्धिर्लभते नात्र संशयः ॥ २९ ॥
raktapuṣpaistathā gandhairvastrālaṅkaraṇaistathā
One who worships with devotion, attaining success from a distance,
पठति य इह मर्त्यो नित्यमार्द्रान्तरात्मा
bhaktyā yaḥ pūjayēddēvīṁ labhatē paramāṁ gatim
To that Goddess, who is all-pervading and embodies all mantras,
जपफलमनुमेयं लप्स्यते यद्विधेयम् ।
nārī vā puruṣō vāpi yaḥ paṭhētkavacaṁ śubham
He who worships with good devotion becomes dear to the Lotus Goddess.
स भवति पदमुच्चैः सम्पदां पादनम्रः
mantrasiddhiḥ kāryasiddhirlabhatē nātra saṁśayaḥ
With red flowers and fragrances, with garments and ornaments,
क्षितिपमुकुटलक्ष्मीर्लक्षणानां चिराय ॥ ३० ॥
paṭhati ya iha martyō nityamārdrāntarātmā japaphalamanumēyaṁ lapsyatē yadvidhēyam
He who worships the Goddess with devotion attains the highest state.
इति श्रीविश्वसारतन्त्रोक्तं चतुरक्षरी विष्णुवनिता कवचं नाम श्री कमला कवचम् । दशमहाविद्या स्तोत्राणि
sa bhavati padamuccaiḥ sampadāṁ pādanamraḥ kṣitipamukuṭalakṣmīrlakṣaṇānāṁ cirāya
Whether a woman or a man, whoever recites this auspicious armor,
Dasa Mahavidya - दशमहाविद्या
iti śrīviśvasāratantrōktaṁ caturakṣarī viṣṇuvanitā kavacaṁ nāma śrī kamalā kavacam
There is no doubt that he will attain success in his endeavors.
