The Sri Kamala Stotram praises Goddess Lakshmi, invoking her divine qualities and seeking her grace for abundance and prosperity.
दशमहाविद्या स्तोत्राणि
ōṅkārarūpiṇī dēvi viśuddhasattvarūpiṇī
O Goddess, who embodies the essence of Om,
ओङ्काररूपिणी देवि विशुद्धसत्त्वरूपिणी ।
dēvānāṁ jananī tvaṁ hi prasannā bhava sundari
You are the purest form of consciousness,
देवानां जननी त्वं हि प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ १ ॥
tanmātraṁ caiva bhūtāni tava vakṣaḥsthalaṁ smr̥tam
Mother of the gods, may you be gracious, O beautiful one.
तन्मात्रं चैव भूतानि तव वक्षःस्थलं स्मृतम् ।
tvamēva vēdagamyā tu prasannā bhava sundari
The subtle elements and all beings are remembered on your chest,
त्वमेव वेदगम्या तु प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ २ ॥
dēva dānava gandharva yakṣa rākṣasa kinnaraiḥ
You alone are the one who can be understood through the Vedas, may you be gracious, O beautiful one.
देव दानव गन्धर्व यक्ष राक्षस किन्नरैः ।
stūyasē tvaṁ sadā lakṣmi prasannā bhava sundari
You are praised by gods, demons, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Rakshasas, and Kinnaras,
स्तूयसे त्वं सदा लक्ष्मि प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ३ ॥
lōkātītā dvaitātītā samastabhūtavēṣṭitā
Always worshipped, may you be gracious, O beautiful one.
लोकातीता द्वैतातीता समस्तभूतवेष्टिता ।
vidvajjanakīrtitā ca prasannā bhava sundari
Transcending the world and duality, encompassing all beings,
विद्वज्जनकीर्तिता च प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ४ ॥
paripūrṇā sadā lakṣmi trātrī tu śaraṇārthiṣu
Praised by the wise, may you be gracious, O beautiful one.
परिपूर्णा सदा लक्ष्मि त्रात्री तु शरणार्थिषु ।
viśvādyā viśvakartrī ca prasannā bhava sundari
Always complete, O Lakshmi, protector of those who seek refuge,
विश्वाद्या विश्वकर्त्री च प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ५ ॥
brahmarūpā ca sāvitrī tvaddīptyā bhāsatē jagat
You are the creator of the universe, may you be gracious, O beautiful one.
ब्रह्मरूपा च सावित्री त्वद्दीप्त्या भासते जगत् ।
viśvarūpā varēṇyā ca prasannā bhava sundari
You are the form of Brahman, O Savitri, illuminating the world with your radiance,
विश्वरूपा वरेण्या च प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ६ ॥
kṣityaptējōmarudvōmapañcabhūtasvarūpiṇī
The universal form, the most excellent one, may you be gracious, O beautiful one.
क्षित्यप्तेजोमरुद्वोमपञ्चभूतस्वरूपिणी ।
bandhādēḥ kāraṇaṁ tvaṁ hi prasannā bhava sundari
You embody the five elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space,
बन्धादेः कारणं त्वं हि प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ७ ॥
mahēśē tvaṁ haimavatī kamalā kēśavē:'pi ca
You are indeed the cause of bondage, may you be gracious, O beautiful one.
महेशे त्वं हैमवती कमला केशवेऽपि च ।
brahmaṇaḥ prēyasī tvaṁ hi prasannā bhava sundari
You are the great goddess, the daughter of the mountains, O Kamala, even of Keshava.
ब्रह्मणः प्रेयसी त्वं हि प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ८ ॥
caṇḍī durgā kālikā ca kauśikī siddhirūpiṇī
O beautiful one, you are indeed dear to the Brahman; be gracious.
चण्डी दुर्गा कालिका च कौशिकी सिद्धिरूपिणी ।
yōginī yōgagamyā ca prasannā bhava sundari
O Chandi, Durga, Kali, and the embodiment of Siddhi,
योगिनी योगगम्या च प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ९ ॥
bālyē ca bālikā tvaṁ hi yauvanē yuvatīti ca
O Yogini, attainable through yoga, be gracious, O beautiful one.
बाल्ये च बालिका त्वं हि यौवने युवतीति च ।
sthavirē vr̥ddharūpā ca prasannā bhava sundari
In childhood, you are the girl; in youth, you are the young woman.
स्थविरे वृद्धरूपा च प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ १० ॥
guṇamayī guṇātītā ādyā vidyā sanātanī
In old age, you take the form of the elder; be gracious, O beautiful one.
गुणमयी गुणातीता आद्या विद्या सनातनी ।
mahattattvādisamyuktā prasannā bhava sundari
You are endowed with qualities, transcending qualities, the primordial eternal knowledge.
महत्तत्त्वादिसम्युक्ता प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ११ ॥
tapasvinī tapaḥ siddhiḥ svargasiddhistadarthiṣu
United with the essence of the great principle, be gracious, O beautiful one.
तपस्विनी तपः सिद्धिः स्वर्गसिद्धिस्तदर्थिषु ।
cinmayī prakr̥tistvaṁ tu prasannā bhava sundari
You are the ascetic, the attainment of penance, the attainment of heaven for those who seek it.
चिन्मयी प्रकृतिस्त्वं तु प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ १२ ॥
tvamādirjagatāṁ dēvi tvamēva sthitikāraṇam
You are the essence of consciousness, yet be gracious, O beautiful one.
त्वमादिर्जगतां देवि त्वमेव स्थितिकारणम् ।
tvamantē nidhanasthānaṁ svēcchācārā tvamēva hi
You are the origin of the universe, O goddess; you are indeed the cause of stability.
त्वमन्ते निधनस्थानं स्वेच्छाचारा त्वमेव हि ॥ १३ ॥
carācarāṇāṁ bhūtānāṁ bahirantastvamēva hi
You are the place of dissolution; you are indeed the embodiment of free will.
चराचराणां भूतानां बहिरन्तस्त्वमेव हि ।
vyāpyavyāpakarūpēṇa tvaṁ bhāsi bhaktavatsalē
You are the inner essence of all moving and non-moving beings; indeed, you are.
व्याप्यव्यापकरूपेण त्वं भासि भक्तवत्सले ॥ १४ ॥
tvanmāyayā hr̥tajñānā naṣṭātmānō vicētasaḥ
You shine in the form of the all-pervading, O beloved of the devotees.
त्वन्मायया हृतज्ञाना नष्टात्मानो विचेतसः ।
gatāgataṁ prapadyantē pāpapuṇyavaśātsadā
By your illusion, those who have lost their knowledge and are unwise are led astray.
गतागतं प्रपद्यन्ते पापपुण्यवशात्सदा ॥ १५ ॥
tāvatsatyaṁ jagadbhāti śuktikārajataṁ yathā
They constantly fall into the cycle of sin and virtue, compelled by fate.
तावत्सत्यं जगद्भाति शुक्तिकारजतं यथा ।
yāvanna jñāyatē jñānaṁ cētasā nānvagāminī
As long as the truth shines in the world, like silver from a shell,
यावन्न ज्ञायते ज्ञानं चेतसा नान्वगामिनी ॥ १६ ॥
tvajjñānāttu sadā yuktaḥ putradāragr̥hādiṣu
Until knowledge is known, which does not follow the mind.
त्वज्ज्ञानात्तु सदा युक्तः पुत्रदारगृहादिषु ।
ramantē viṣayān sarvānantē duḥkhapradān dhruvam
Always united with your knowledge, in sons, wives, and home,
रमन्ते विषयान् सर्वानन्ते दुःखप्रदान् ध्रुवम् ॥ १७ ॥
tvadājñayā tu dēvēśi gaganē sūryamaṇḍalam
They enjoy all sense pleasures, which certainly bring suffering in the end.
त्वदाज्ञया तु देवेशि गगने सूर्यमण्डलम् ।
candraśca bhramatē nityaṁ prasannā bhava sundari
By your command, O goddess, in the sky the sun's orb,
चन्द्रश्च भ्रमते नित्यं प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ १८ ॥
brahmēśaviṣṇujananī brahmākhyā brahmasaṁśrayā
And the moon also moves eternally; be gracious, O beautiful one.
ब्रह्मेशविष्णुजननी ब्रह्माख्या ब्रह्मसंश्रया ।
vyaktā:'vyaktā ca dēvēśi prasannā bhava sundari
Mother of Brahma and Vishnu, known as Brahman, resting in Brahman,
व्यक्ताऽव्यक्ता च देवेशि प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ १९ ॥
acalā sarvagā tvaṁ hi māyātītā mahēśvari
Manifest and unmanifest, O goddess, be gracious, O beautiful one.
अचला सर्वगा त्वं हि मायातीता महेश्वरि ।
śivātmā śāśvatā nityā prasannā bhava sundari
You are indeed the unchanging, all-pervading, great goddess,
शिवात्मा शाश्वता नित्या प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ २० ॥
sarvakāryaniyantrī ca sarvabhūtēśvarēśvarī
The eternal essence of Shiva, always gracious, O beautiful one.
सर्वकार्यनियन्त्री च सर्वभूतेश्वरेश्वरी ।
anantā niṣkālā tvaṁ hi prasannā bhavasundari
You are the controller of all actions and the supreme lord of all beings,
अनन्ता निष्काला त्वं हि प्रसन्ना भवसुन्दरि ॥ २१ ॥
sarvēśvarī sarvavandyā acintyā paramātmikā
Infinite and timeless, indeed, be gracious, O beautiful one.
सर्वेश्वरी सर्ववन्द्या अचिन्त्या परमात्मिका ।
bhuktimuktipradā tvaṁ hi prasannā bhava sundari
You are the supreme goddess, worthy of all worship, unfathomable, the ultimate soul,
भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदा त्वं हि प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ २२ ॥
brahmāṇī brahmalōkē tvaṁ vaikuṇṭhē sarvamaṅgalā
Granting both enjoyment and liberation, indeed, be gracious, O beautiful one.
ब्रह्माणी ब्रह्मलोके त्वं वैकुण्ठे सर्वमङ्गला ।
indrāṇī amarāvatyāmambikā varuṇālayē
You are the divine lady in Brahmaloka, in Vaikuntha, the source of all auspiciousness.
इन्द्राणी अमरावत्यामम्बिका वरुणालये ॥ २३ ॥
yamālayē kālarūpā kubērabhavanē śubhā
Indrāṇī in Amarāvatī, Ambikā in Varuṇālayā,
यमालये कालरूपा कुबेरभवने शुभा ।
mahānandāgnikōṇē ca prasannā bhava sundari
Yamālayā, the form of Time, in Kubera's abode, auspicious,
महानन्दाग्निकोणे च प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ २४ ॥
nairr̥tyāṁ raktadantā tvaṁ vāyavyāṁ mr̥gavāhinī
In the great joy of the fire corner, be pleased, O beautiful one,
नैरृत्यां रक्तदन्ता त्वं वायव्यां मृगवाहिनी ।
pātālē vaiṣṇavīrūpā prasannā bhava sundari
In the south, with red teeth, you are the deer-hunting goddess,
पाताले वैष्णवीरूपा प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ २५ ॥
surasā tvaṁ maṇidvīpē aiśānyāṁ śūladhāriṇī
In Pātāla, as Vaishnavī, be pleased, O beautiful one,
सुरसा त्वं मणिद्वीपे ऐशान्यां शूलधारिणी ।
bhadrakālī ca laṅkāyāṁ prasannā bhava sundari
You are Surasā in the island of jewels, in the northeast, the wielder of the trident,
भद्रकाली च लङ्कायां प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ २६ ॥
rāmēśvarī sētubandhē siṁhalē dēvamōhinī
Bhadra Kālī in Lankā, be pleased, O beautiful one,
रामेश्वरी सेतुबन्धे सिंहले देवमोहिनी ।
vimalā tvaṁ ca śrīkṣētrē prasannā bhava sundari
Rāmēśvarī at the bridge, in Siṁhala, the goddess of enchantment,
विमला त्वं च श्रीक्षेत्रे प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ २७ ॥
kālikā tvaṁ kālighaṭ-ṭē kāmākhyā nīlaparvatē
You are Vimalā in Śrīkṣētra, be pleased, O beautiful one,
कालिका त्वं कालिघट्टे कामाख्या नीलपर्वते ।
virajā auḍradēśē tvaṁ prasannā bhava sundari
Kālikā at Kālighaṭṭ, Kāmākhyā on the blue mountain,
विरजा औड्रदेशे त्वं प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ २८ ॥
vārāṇasyāmannapūrṇā ayōdhyāyāṁ mahēśvarī
Virajā in Audra country, be pleased, O beautiful one,
वाराणस्यामन्नपूर्णा अयोध्यायां महेश्वरी ।
gayāsurī gayādhāmni prasannā bhava sundari
In Vārāṇasī, the full of food, in Ayodhya, the great goddess,
गयासुरी गयाधाम्नि प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ २९ ॥
bhadrakālī kurukṣētrē kr̥ṣṇa kātyāyanī vrajē
Gayāsurī in Gayā, in the abode of Gayā, be pleased, O beautiful one,
भद्रकाली कुरुक्षेत्रे कृष्ण कात्यायनी व्रजे ।
mahāmāyā dvārakāyāṁ prasannā bhava sundari
Bhadra Kālī in Kurukṣetra, Kṛṣṇa's Kātīyānī in Vraja,
महामाया द्वारकायां प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ३० ॥
kṣudhā tvaṁ sarvajīvānāṁ vēlā ca sāgarasya hi
Mahāmāyā in Dwārakā, be pleased, O beautiful one.
क्षुधा त्वं सर्वजीवानां वेला च सागरस्य हि ।
mahēśvarī mathurāyāṁ prasannā bhava sundari
O beautiful one, may you be pleased, for you are the hunger of all beings and the tide of the ocean.
महेश्वरी मथुरायां प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ३१ ॥
rāmasya jānakī tvaṁ ca śivasya manamōhinī
You are Janaki of Rama and the enchanting one of Shiva.
रामस्य जानकी त्वं च शिवस्य मनमोहिनी ।
dakṣasya duhitā caiva prasannā bhava sundari
You are the daughter of Daksha; may you be pleased, O beautiful one.
दक्षस्य दुहिता चैव प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ३२ ॥
viṣṇubhaktipradā tvaṁ ca kaṁsāsura vināśinī
You are the bestower of devotion to Vishnu and the destroyer of the demon Kamsa.
विष्णुभक्तिप्रदा त्वं च कंसासुर विनाशिनी ।
rāvaṇanāśinī caiva prasannā bhava sundari
You are the destroyer of Ravana; may you be pleased, O beautiful one.
रावणनाशिनी चैव प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥ ३३ ॥
lakṣmīstōtramidaṁ puṇyaṁ yaḥ paṭhēdbhaktisamyutaḥ
This hymn to Lakshmi is sacred; whoever reads it with devotion
लक्ष्मीस्तोत्रमिदं पुण्यं यः पठेद्भक्तिसम्युतः ।
sarvajvarabhayaṁ naśyēt sarvavyādhinivāraṇam
will be freed from all fears of disease and will be cured of all ailments.
सर्वज्वरभयं नश्येत् सर्वव्याधिनिवारणम् ॥ ३४ ॥
idaṁ stōtraṁ mahāpuṇyamāpaduddhārakāraṇam
This hymn is highly auspicious and a means of rescuing from calamities.
इदं स्तोत्रं महापुण्यमापदुद्धारकारणम् ।
trisandhyamēkasandhyaṁ vā yaḥ paṭhēt satataṁ naraḥ
Whoever reads it three times a day or even once,
त्रिसन्ध्यमेकसन्ध्यं वा यः पठेत् सततं नरः ॥ ३५ ॥
mucyatē sarvapāpēbhyastathā tu sarvasaṅkaṭāt
will be liberated from all sins and all troubles without doubt.
मुच्यते सर्वपापेभ्यस्तथा तु सर्वसङ्कटात् ।
mucyatē nātra sandēhō bhuvi svargē rasātalē
There is no doubt about it, whether in this world, heaven, or the netherworld.
मुच्यते नात्र सन्देहो भुवि स्वर्गे रसातले ॥ ३६ ॥
samastaṁ ca tathā caikaṁ yaḥ paṭhēdbhaktitatparaḥ
Whoever reads it with sincere devotion,
समस्तं च तथा चैकं यः पठेद्भक्तितत्परः ।
sa sarvaduṣkaraṁ tīrtvā labhatē paramāṁ gatim
crosses over all difficulties and attains the highest state.
स सर्वदुष्करं तीर्त्वा लभते परमां गतिम् ॥ ३७ ॥
sukhadaṁ mōkṣadaṁ stōtraṁ yaḥ paṭhēdbhaktisamyutaḥ
This hymn, which grants happiness and liberation, is to be read with devotion.
सुखदं मोक्षदं स्तोत्रं यः पठेद्भक्तिसम्युतः ।
sa tu kōṭitīrthaphalaṁ prāpnōti nātra saṁśayaḥ
He who attains the fruit of a crore of holy places, there is no doubt about it.
स तु कोटितीर्थफलं प्राप्नोति नात्र संशयः ॥ ३८ ॥
ēkā dēvī tu kamalā yasmiṁstuṣṭā bhavētsadā
The one Goddess, Kamala, when pleased, will always be present.
एका देवी तु कमला यस्मिंस्तुष्टा भवेत्सदा ।
tasyā:'sādhyaṁ tu dēvēśi nāstikiñcijjagattrayē
For that Goddess, O Divine One, there is nothing unattainable in the three worlds.
तस्याऽसाध्यं तु देवेशि नास्तिकिञ्चिज्जगत्त्रये ॥ ३९ ॥
paṭhanādapi stōtrasya kiṁ na siddhyati bhūtalē
What cannot be achieved on earth by reciting this hymn?
पठनादपि स्तोत्रस्य किं न सिद्ध्यति भूतले ।
tasmāt stōtravaraṁ prōktaṁ satyaṁ satyaṁ hi pārvati
Therefore, the best hymn is declared, for it is indeed true, O Parvati.
तस्मात् स्तोत्रवरं प्रोक्तं सत्यं सत्यं हि पार्वति ॥ ४० ॥
iti śrī kamalā stōtram
Thus is the hymn to Shri Kamala.
