Arunachala Ashtakam
This stotra consists of verses dedicated to the sacred hill of Arunachala, celebrating its significance as a spiritual center and its connection to Lord Shiva.
दर्शनादभ्रसदसि जननात्कमलालये । काश्यां तु मरणान्मुक्तिः स्मरणादरुणाचले ॥ १ ॥
darśanādabhrasadasi jananātkamalālayē
O Lord Shiva, who resides in Arunachala,
करुणापूरितापाङ्गं शरणागतवत्सलम् । तरुणेन्दुजटामौलिं स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ २ ॥
kāśyāṁ tu maraṇānmuktiḥ smaraṇādaruṇācalē
By merely seeing you, one is liberated from the cycle of birth and death,
समस्तजगदाधारं सच्चिदानन्दविग्रहम् । सहस्ररथसोपेतं स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ ३ ॥
karuṇāpūritāpāṅgaṁ śaraṇāgatavatsalam
In Kashi, liberation is attained through remembrance of Arunachala,
काञ्चनप्रतिमाभासं वाञ्छितार्थफलप्रदम् । मां च रक्ष सुराध्यक्षं स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ ४ ॥
taruṇēndujaṭāmauliṁ smaraṇādaruṇācalam
With compassionate eyes, you protect those who seek refuge,
बद्धचन्द्रजटाजूटमर्धनारीकलेबरम् । वर्धमानदयाम्भोधिं स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ ५ ॥
samastajagadādhāraṁ saccidānandavigraham
O Arunachala, the moon among the young,
काञ्चनप्रतिमाभासं सूर्यकोटिसमप्रभम् । बद्धव्याघ्रपुरीध्यानम् स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ ६ ॥
sahasrarathasōpētaṁ smaraṇādaruṇācalam
You are the support of the entire universe, embodying existence, consciousness, and bliss,
शिक्षयाखिलदेवारि भक्षितक्ष्वेलकन्धरम् । रक्षयाखिलभक्तानां स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ ७ ॥
kāñcanapratimābhāsaṁ vāñchitārthaphalapradam
Adorned with a thousand chariots, you are remembered as Arunachala,
अष्टभूतिसमायुक्तमिष्टकामफलप्रदम् । शिष्टभक्तिसमायुक्तान् स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ ८ ॥
māṁ ca rakṣa surādhyakṣaṁ smaraṇādaruṇācalam
Radiating like a golden idol, you grant the fruits of desires,
विनायकसुराध्यक्षं विष्णुब्रह्मेन्द्रसेवितम् । विमलारुणपादाब्जं स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ ९ ॥
baddhacandrajaṭājūṭamardhanārīkalēbaram
Protect me, O Lord of the Devas, through remembrance of Arunachala,
मन्दारमल्लिकाजातिकुन्दचम्पकपङ्कजैः । इन्द्रादिपूजितां देवीं स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ १० ॥
vardhamānadayāmbhōdhiṁ smaraṇādaruṇācalam
With matted hair tied like the crescent moon, you embody the form of half-woman,
सम्पत्करं पार्वतीशं सूर्यचन्द्राग्निलोचनम् । मन्दस्मितमुखाम्भोजं स्मरणादरुणाचलम् ॥ ११ ॥
kāñcanapratimābhāsaṁ sūryakōṭisamaprabham
O Arunachala, the ocean of compassion that is ever-growing,
इति श्रीअरुणाचलाष्टकम् ॥
baddhavyāghrapurīdhyānam smaraṇādaruṇācalam
Shining like the sun with countless rays, you are remembered as Arunachala,
Ayodhya Kanda Sarga 54 – अयोध्याकाण्ड चतुःपञ्चाशः सर्गः (५४)
śikṣayākhiladēvāri bhakṣitakṣvēlakandharam
With a body bound by the thoughts of a tiger, you are remembered as Arunachala,

rakṣayākhilabhaktānāṁ smaraṇādaruṇācalam
Teaching all the gods, you consume the poison of the universe,
