शरीनारद ुवाछ - नायासेन लोको.यम सरवान कामानवापनुयात
śrīnārada uvācha - anāyāsena loko.ayam sarvān kāmānavāpnuyāt
The divine sage Narada speaks: May the one who is the abode of all beings, grant us all our desires.
सरवदेवातमकं छैकं तनमे बरूहि पितामह
sarvadevātmakaṃ chaikaṃ tanme brūhi pitāmaha
O Grandfather, the supreme essence of all deities, I implore you to reveal your sacred form.
बरहमोवाछ - शरुणु देव मुने.शवतथं शुदधं सरवातमकं तरुम
brahmovācha - śruṇu deva mune.aśvatthaṃ śuddhaṃ sarvātmakaṃ tarum
Brahma speaks: Listen, O divine sage, to the pure and eternal Ashvattha tree, the essence of all.
यतपरदकŚिणतो लोकः सरवान कामान समशनुते
yatpradakŚiṇato lokaḥ sarvān kāmān samaśnute
By the grace of the supreme, all beings are fulfilled, and their desires are satisfied.
शवतथाददकŚिणे रुदरः पशछिमे विŚणुरासथितः
aśvatthāddakŚiṇe rudraḥ paśchime viŚṇurāsthitaḥ
In the west, Rudra resides, while Vishnu stands firm in the Ashvattha.
बरहमा छोततरदेशसथः पूरवेतविनदरादिदेवताः
brahmā chottaradeśasthaḥ pūrvetvindrādidevatāḥ
Brahma, the lord of the eastern direction, along with the celestial deities, blesses us.
सकनधोपसकनधपत्रेŚु गोविपरमुनयसतथा
skandhopaskandhapatreŚu govipramunayastathā
In the leaves of the sacred Ashvattha, the divine sages find their refuge.
मूलं वेदाः पयो यज्ञाः संसथिता मुनिपुङगव
mūlaṃ vedāḥ payo yajñāḥ saṃsthitā munipuṅgava
The roots of the Vedas, the essence of sacrifices, are firmly established by the great sages.
पूरवादिदिकŚु संयाता नदीनदसरो.बधयः
pūrvādidikŚu saṃyātā nadīnadasaro.abdhayaḥ
In the eastern directions, the rivers and lakes flow, binding the essence of life.
तसमात सरवपरयतनेन हयशवतथं संशरयेदबुधः
tasmāt sarvaprayatnena hyaśvatthaṃ saṃśrayedbudhaḥ
Thus, with utmost devotion, one should meditate upon the Ashvattha, the source of all wisdom.
तवं कŚीरयफलकशछैव शीतलसय वनसपते
tvaṃ kŚīryaphalakaśchaiva śītalasya vanaspate
You, O Lord of the forest, are the cooling shade of the milk-laden tree.
तवामाराधय नरो विनदयादैहिकामुŚमिकं फलम
tvāmārādhya naro vindyādaihikāmuŚmikaṃ phalam
May those who worship you, O Ashvattha, attain the fruits of their earthly desires.
छलददलाय वृ^िकŚाय सरवदाशरितविŚणवे
chaladdalāya vṛ^ikŚāya sarvadāśritaviŚṇave
In the shade of your leaves, may all beings find refuge and peace.
बोधिसतवाय देवाय हयशवतथाय नमो नमः
bodhisatvāya devāya hyaśvatthāya namo namaḥ
Salutations to the divine Ashvattha, the embodiment of wisdom and strength.
शवतथ यसमात तवयि वृ^िकŚराज नारायणसतिŚठति सरवकाले
aśvattha yasmāt tvayi vṛ^ikŚarāja nārāyaṇastiŚṭhati sarvakāle
O Narayana, in the Ashvattha, you reside at all times, bestowing blessings upon all.
थः शरुतसतवं सततं तरूणां धनयो.सि छारिŚटविनाशको.सि
athaḥ śrutastvaṃ satataṃ tarūṇāṃ dhanyo.asi chāriŚṭavināśako.asi
May the essence of the Ashvattha protect the wealth of the youthful.
कŚीरदसतवं छ येनेह येन शरीसतवां निŚेवते
kŚīradastvaṃ cha yeneha yena śrīstvāṃ niŚevate
By the grace of the Ashvattha, may I also serve this sacred body.
सतयेन तेन वृ^िकŚेनदर मामपि शरीरनिŚेवताम
satyena tena vṛ^ikŚendra māmapi śrīrniŚevatām
In the presence of the eleven Rudras, may the jewel of the Vasus shine.
ेकादशातमरुदरो.सि वसुनाथशिरोमणिः
ekādaśātmarudro.asi vasunāthaśiromaṇiḥ
O Narayana, you are the king of trees, the essence of all deities.
नारायणो.सि देवानां वृ^िकŚराजो.सि पिपपल
nārāyaṇo.asi devānāṃ vṛ^ikŚarājo.asi pippala
In the womb of the divine, the sacred tree gives birth to all beings.
गनिगरभः शमीगरभो देवगरभः परजापतिः
agnigarbhaḥ śamīgarbho devagarbhaḥ prajāpatiḥ
O golden tree, the essence of the earth, the embodiment of sacrifice, I bow to you.
हिरणयगरभो भूगरभो यज्ञगरभो नमो.सतु ते
hiraṇyagarbho bhūgarbho yajñagarbho namo.astu te
May you grant us longevity, strength, and fame, along with prosperity and abundance.
ायुरबलं यशो वरछः परजाः पशुवसूनि छ
āyurbalaṃ yaśo varchaḥ prajāḥ paśuvasūni cha
O Brahman, grant us wisdom and understanding, O Lord of the forest.
बरहम परज्ञां छ मेधां छ तवं नो देहि वनसपते
brahma prajñāṃ cha medhāṃ cha tvaṃ no dehi vanaspate
May Varuna protect us always, as we seek refuge in your divine vision.
सततं वरुणो रकŚेत तवामाराददृ^िŚटिराशरयेत
satataṃ varuṇo rakŚet tvāmārāddṛ^iŚṭirāśrayet
May Varuna, the lord of water, always protect you, and may your vision be directed towards auspiciousness.
परितसतवां निŚेवनतां तृ^िणानि सुखमसतु ते
paritastvāṃ niŚevantāṃ tṛ^iṇāni sukhamastu te
May you find joy in the shade of the Ashvattha tree, surrounded by its soothing leaves.
कŚिसपनदं भुजसपनदं दुःसवपनं दुरविछिनतनम
akŚispandaṃ bhujaspandaṃ duḥsvapnaṃ durvichintanam
In the embrace of the mighty, may you conquer the burdens of life, dispelling all sorrows.
शत्रूणां छ समुतथानं हयशवतथ शमय परभो
śatrūṇāṃ cha samutthānaṃ hyaśvattha śamaya prabho
O Lord, grant us strength to overcome our foes, as the swift horse tames the wild.
शवतथाय वरेणयाय सरवैशवरय परदायिने
aśvatthāya vareṇyāya sarvaiśvarya pradāyine
To the one who bestows all powers, I offer my reverence, O Supreme Being.
नमो दुःसवपननाशाय सुसवपनफलदायिने
namo duḥsvapnanāśāya susvapnaphaladāyine
Salutations to the one who destroys the sorrows of existence, and grants the fruits of bliss.
मूलतो बरहमरूपाय मधयतो विŚणु रूपिणे
mūlato brahmarūpāya madhyato viŚṇu rūpiṇe
From the root, you are the embodiment of the Absolute; in the middle, you are the form of Vishnu.
गरतः शिवरूपाय वृ^िकŚराजाय ते नमः
agrataḥ śivarūpāya vṛ^ikŚarājāya te namaḥ
To you, who take the form of Shiva, the great Lord of the forest, I bow in reverence.
यं दृ^िŚटवा मुछयते रोगैः सपृ^िŚटवा पापैः परमुछयते
yaṃ dṛ^iŚṭvā muchyate rogaiḥ spṛ^iŚṭvā pāpaiḥ pramuchyate
By merely gazing upon you, one is freed from ailments; by your touch, sins are washed away.
यदाशरयाछछिरञजीवी तमशवतथं नमामयहम
yadāśrayāchchirañjīvī tamaśvatthaṃ namāmyaham
I bow to you, O eternal light, who shelters all beings from the darkness of ignorance.
शवतथ सुमहाभाग सुभग परियदरशन
aśvattha sumahābhāga subhaga priyadarśana
O great being, blessed with divine beauty, your sight brings joy to the heart.
िŚटकामांशछ मे देहि शत्रुभयसतु पराभवम
iŚṭakāmāṃścha me dehi śatrubhyastu parābhavam
Grant me desires fulfilled, and shield me from the fears of adversaries.
ायुः परजां धनं धानयं सौभागयं सरवसमपदम
āyuḥ prajāṃ dhanaṃ dhānyaṃ saubhāgyaṃ sarvasampadam
Bestow upon me longevity, prosperity, wealth, and all auspiciousness.
देहि देव महावृ^िकŚ तवामहं शरणं गतः
dehi deva mahāvṛ^ikŚa tvāmahaṃ śaraṇaṃ gataḥ
O great Ashvattha, I take refuge in you, for you are my ultimate sanctuary.
ृ^िगयजुःसाममनत्रातमा सरवरूपी परातपरः
ṛ^igyajuḥsāmamantrātmā sarvarūpī parātparaḥ
In the essence of the Vedas, you are the supreme, transcendent form.
शवतथो वेदमूलो.सावृ^िŚिभिः परोछयते सदा
aśvattho vedamūlo.asāvṛ^iŚibhiḥ prochyate sadā
The roots of the Vedas always nourish and protect those who seek shelter.
बरहमहा गुरुहा छैव दरिदरो वयाधिपीडितः
brahmahā guruhā chaiva daridro vyādhipīḍitaḥ
O great Guru, you are the refuge for the destitute and the afflicted.
ावृ^ितय लकŚसङखयं तत सतोत्रमेतत सुखी भवेत
āvṛ^itya lakŚasaṅkhyaṃ tat stotrametat sukhī bhavet
Those who recite this stotra with devotion shall find happiness in abundance.
बरहमछारी हविŚयाशी तवदःशायी जितेनदरियः
brahmachārī haviŚyāśī tvadaḥśāyī jitendriyaḥ
O divine one, who consumes offerings, may I conquer the senses through your grace.
पपोपहतछिततो.पि वरतमेतत समाछरेत
papopahatachitto.api vratametat samācharet
Even if afflicted by calamities, may this stotra be practiced with steadfastness.
ेकाहसतं दविहसतं वा कुरयादगोमयलेपनम
ekāhastaṃ dvihastaṃ vā kuryādgomayalepanam
Whether in joy or sorrow, let me apply the sacred ash with devotion.
रछेत पुरुŚसूकतेन परणवेन विशेŚतः
archet puruŚasūktena praṇavena viśeŚataḥ
Let the sacred syllable protect me, as I chant the divine mantra with faith.
मौनी परदकŚिणं कुरयात परागुकतफलभागभवेत
maunī pradakŚiṇaṃ kuryāt prāguktaphalabhāgbhavet
In silence, may I perform the sacred rites, and partake in the fruits of liberation.
विŚणोरनामसहसरेण हयछयुतसयापि कीरतनात
viŚṇornāmasahasreṇa hyachyutasyāpi kīrtanāt
Through the thousand names of Vishnu, may I sing praises and attain liberation.
पदे पदानतरं गतवा करछेŚटाविवरजितः
pade padāntaraṃ gatvā karacheŚṭāvivarjitaḥ
Step by step, may I advance on the path, free from obstacles and distractions.
वाछा सतोत्रं मनो धयाने छतुरङगं परदकŚिणम
vāchā stotraṃ mano dhyāne chaturaṅgaṃ pradakŚiṇam
With a focused mind, let me meditate on this stotra, which leads to the ultimate realization.
शवतथः सथापितो येन ततकुलं सथापितं ततः
aśvatthaḥ sthāpito yena tatkulaṃ sthāpitaṃ tataḥ
By whom the sacred Ashvattha is firmly established, thus the lineage is anchored in strength.
धनायुŚां समृ^िदधिसतु नरकात तारयेत पितृ^िन
dhanāyuŚāṃ samṛ^iddhistu narakāt tārayet pitṛ^in
May the wealth and prosperity bestowed by this tree liberate the ancestors from the depths of Naraka.
शवतथमूलमाशरितय शाकाननोदकदानतः
aśvatthamūlamāśritya śākānnodakadānataḥ
The roots of the Ashvattha, nourished by the waters, grant bountiful offerings of greens and sustenance.
ेकसमिन भोजिते विपरे कोटिबराहमणभोजनम
ekasmin bhojite vipre koṭibrāhmaṇabhojanam
In the gathering of feasts, where the wise partake, the blessings of countless Brahmins are shared.
शवतथमूलमाशरितय जपहोमसुरारछनात
aśvatthamūlamāśritya japahomasurārchanāt
From the roots of the Ashvattha, through the sacred rites and homas, the divine essence is invoked.
कŚयं फलमापनोति बरहमणो वछनं यथा
akŚayaṃ phalamāpnoti brahmaṇo vachanaṃ yathā
As the Brahmin speaks, so does the fruit of devotion manifest, bringing forth the desired results.
ेवमाशवासितो.शवतथः सदाशवासाय कलपते
evamāśvāsito.aśvatthaḥ sadāśvāsāya kalpate
Thus, the Ashvattha, ever steadfast, bestows eternal peace and fulfillment to those who seek refuge.
यज्ञारथं Cहेदिते.शवतथे हयकŚयं सवरगमापनुयात
yajñārthaṃ Chedite.aśvatthe hyakŚayaṃ svargamāpnuyāt
For the sake of Yajna, those who honor the Ashvattha shall attain the realms of bliss and divine grace.
Cहिननो येन वृ^िथा.शवतथशCहेदिता पितृ^िदेवताः
Chinno yena vṛ^ithā.aśvatthaśCheditā pitṛ^idevatāḥ
Those who neglect the Ashvattha, their ancestors and deities remain unfulfilled, lost in the void.
शवतथः पूजितो यत्र पूजिताः सरवदेवताः
aśvatthaḥ pūjito yatra pūjitāḥ sarvadevatāḥ
Where the Ashvattha is worshipped, all deities are revered, and their blessings flow abundantly.
िति शवतथ सतोत्रं समपूरणम
iti aśvattha stotraṃ sampūrṇam
Thus concludes the Ashvattha Stotra, a complete offering of devotion.
