Ashvatthamahima Stotram ..
ीशवरः सरवभूतानां कृ^िपया वृ^िकŚमाशरितः
īśvaraḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ kṛ^ipayā vṛ^ikŚamāśritaḥ
O Lord of all beings, by Your grace, You shelter the world.
छातुरमासये.थ समपरापते सरवभूतदयाकरः
chāturmāsye.atha samprāpte sarvabhūtadayākaraḥ
You are the refuge for all, the bestower of compassion upon all creatures.
शवतथो.तः सदा सेवयो मनदवारे विशेŚतः
aśvattho.ataḥ sadā sevyo mandavāre viśeŚataḥ
Always may I serve You, O Lord, at the gate of my heart.
नितयमशवतथसंसपरशातपापं याति सहसरधा
nityamaśvatthasaṃsparśātpāpaṃ yāti sahasradhā
Daily, by Your grace, sins are washed away, like dust in a storm.
दुगधेन तरपणं ये वै तिलमिशरेण भकतितः
dugdhena tarpaṇaṃ ye vai tilamiśreṇa bhaktitaḥ
Those who offer oblations with sesame, mixed with milk, are blessed.
सेछनं वा करिŚयनति तृ^िपतिसततपूरवजेŚु छ
sechanaṃ vā kariŚyanti tṛ^iptistatpūrvajeŚu cha
Or those who perform rituals with devotion, find joy in Your presence.
दरशनादेव वृ^िकŚसय पातकं तु विनशयति
darśanādeva vṛ^ikŚasya pātakaṃ tu vinaśyati
Just by seeing You, O Lord, one’s sins are destroyed.
पिपपलः पूजितो धयातो दृ^िŚटः सेवित ेव वा
pippalaḥ pūjito dhyāto dṛ^iŚṭaḥ sevita eva vā
When worshipped, O Pipal tree, You grant vision and service.
पापरोगविनाशाय छातुरमासये विशेŚतः
pāparogavināśāya chāturmāsye viśeŚataḥ
To dispel sins and ailments, You are the refuge for all.
शवतथं पूजितं सिकतं सरवभूतसुखावहम
aśvatthaṃ pūjitaṃ siktaṃ sarvabhūtasukhāvaham
Worshipped, You bring joy to all beings, O sacred tree.
सरवामयहरं छैव सरवपापौघहारिणम
sarvāmayaharaṃ chaiva sarvapāpaughahāriṇam
You remove all ailments and destroy the burden of sins.
ये नराः कीरतयिŚयनति नामापयशवतथवृ^िकŚजम
ye narāḥ kīrtayiŚyanti nāmāpyaśvatthavṛ^ikŚajam
Those who sing Your glories, O sacred tree, attain everlasting fame.
न तेŚां यमलोकसय भयं मारगे परजायते
na teŚāṃ yamalokasya bhayaṃ mārge prajāyate
For them, fear of Yama does not arise; they walk the path of righteousness.
कुङकुमैशछनदनैशछैव सुलिपतं यशछ कारयेत
kuṅkumaiśchandanaiśchaiva suliptaṃ yaścha kārayet
With saffron and fragrant offerings, may their fame be established.
तसय तापत्रयाभावो वैकुणठे गणता भवेत
tasya tāpatrayābhāvo vaikuṇṭhe gaṇatā bhavet
Thus, free from the threefold afflictions, they attain Vaikuntha.
दुःसवपनं दुŚटछिनताञछ दुŚटजवरपराभवान
duḥsvapnaṃ duŚṭachintāñcha duŚṭajvaraparābhavān
In dreams, they conquer evil and the fever of sin.
विलयं नय पापानि पिपपल तवं हरिपरिय
vilayaṃ naya pāpāni pippala tvaṃ haripriya
O Pipal tree, may you consume all sins and grant liberation.
मनत्रेणानेन ये देवाः पूजयिŚयनति पिपपलम
mantreṇānena ye devāḥ pūjayiŚyanti pippalam
By this mantra, those who worship You, O Pipal tree, attain divine grace.
ततसतेŚां धरमराजो जायते वाकयकारकः
tatasteŚāṃ dharmarājo jāyate vākyakārakaḥ
Then, Dharma Raja arises, the speaker of truth.
शवतथो वछनेनापि परोकतो ज्ञानपरदो नृ^िणां
aśvattho vachanenāpi prokto jñānaprado nṛ^iṇāṃ
Thus, through Your words, O Lord, knowledge is bestowed upon mankind.
शरुतो हरति पापं छ जनमादि मरणावधि
śruto harati pāpaṃ cha janmādi maraṇāvadhi
The one who hears this, sheds all sins, from birth until the end of life.
शवतथसेवनं पुणयं छातुरमासये विशेŚतः
aśvatthasevanaṃ puṇyaṃ chāturmāsye viśeŚataḥ
By serving the Ashvattha tree, one attains great merit, and the wise find refuge beneath its shade.
सुपते देवे वृ^िकŚमधयमासथाय भगवानपरभुः
supte deve vṛ^ikŚamadhyamāsthāya bhagavānprabhuḥ
O Supreme Lord, who resides in the heart of the Ashvattha, grant us your divine grace.
जलं पृ^िथवीगतं सरवं परपिबननिव सेवते
jalaṃ pṛ^ithvīgataṃ sarvaṃ prapibanniva sevate
The water that flows from the earth, nourishes all beings, and those who partake of it are blessed.
जलं विŚणुरजलतवेन विŚणुरेव रसो महान
jalaṃ viŚṇurjalatvena viŚṇureva raso mahān
In the waters of Vishnu, there exists a great essence, the very nectar of life.
तसमादवृ^िकŚगतो विŚणुशछातुरमासये.घनाशनः
tasmādvṛ^ikŚagato viŚṇuśchāturmāsye.aghanāśanaḥ
Thus, the one who approaches the Ashvattha, finds refuge in Vishnu, the Lord of the universe.
सरवभूतगतो विŚणुरापयाययति वै जगत
sarvabhūtagato viŚṇurāpyāyayati vai jagat
Vishnu, who pervades all beings, sustains the world with his grace.
तथाशवतथगतं विŚणुं यो नमसयेनन नारकी
tathāśvatthagataṃ viŚṇuṃ yo namasyenna nārakī
Those who bow to Vishnu, the one who dwells in the Ashvattha, shall never know the torments of hell.
शवतथं रोपयेदयसतु पृ^िथिवयां परयतो नरः
aśvatthaṃ ropayedyastu pṛ^ithivyāṃ prayato naraḥ
By planting the Ashvattha on this earth, a person attains the highest bliss.
तसय पापसहसराणि विलयं यानति ततकŚणात
tasya pāpasahasrāṇi vilayaṃ yānti tatkŚaṇāt
At that moment, all the countless sins are dissolved, as if they never existed.
शवतथः सरववृ^िकŚाणां पवित्रो मङगलानवितः
aśvatthaḥ sarvavṛ^ikŚāṇāṃ pavitro maṅgalānvitaḥ
The Ashvattha, pure and auspicious, is the source of all blessings.
मुकतिदो रोपितो धयातशछातुरमासये.घनाशनः
muktido ropito dhyātaśchāturmāsye.aghanāśanaḥ
The one who plants it, O Lord of the universe, bestows liberation upon all.
शवतथे छरणं दततवा बरहमहतया परजायते
aśvatthe charaṇaṃ dattvā brahmahatyā prajāyate
By taking refuge in the Ashvattha, one is born into greatness and divine protection.
निŚकारणं सङकुथितवा नरके पछयते धरुवम
niŚkāraṇaṃ saṅkuthitvā narake pachyate dhruvam
Without cause, the sinful are cast into hell, while the righteous find eternal peace.
मूले विŚणुः सथितो नितयं सकनधे केशव ेव छ
mūle viŚṇuḥ sthito nityaṃ skandhe keśava eva cha
At the root of the Ashvattha, Vishnu resides eternally, the divine Keshava.
नारायणसतु शाखासु पत्रेŚु भगवानहरिः
nārāyaṇastu śākhāsu patreŚu bhagavānhariḥ
In its branches and leaves, the Lord Narayana is ever-present.
फले.छयुतो न सनदेहः सरवदेवैः समनवितः
phale.achyuto na sandehaḥ sarvadevaiḥ samanvitaḥ
The fruits of the Ashvattha, untouched by sin, are adorned by all the divine beings.
छातुरमासये विशेŚेण दरुमपूजी स मुकतिभाक
chāturmāsye viśeŚeṇa drumapūjī sa muktibhāk
With devotion, the worship of the Ashvattha tree brings liberation and blessings.
तसमातसरवपरयतनेन सदैवाशवतथसेवनम
tasmātsarvaprayatnena sadaivāśvatthasevanam
Thus, through constant devotion to the Ashvattha, one remains ever in service to the divine.
यः करोति नरो भकतया पापं याति दिनोदभवम
yaḥ karoti naro bhaktyā pāpaṃ yāti dinodbhavam
Whoever performs this with devotion, their sins are washed away, day by day.
स ेव विŚणुरदरुम ेव मूरतो महातमभिः सेवितपुणयमूलः
sa eva viŚṇurdruma eva mūrto mahātmabhiḥ sevitapuṇyamūlaḥ
In the sacred grove of Vishnu, where the great souls dwell, nourished by the roots of virtue, I find my refuge.
यसयाशरयः पापसहसरहनता भवेननृ^िणां कामदुघो गुणाढयः
yasyāśrayaḥ pāpasahasrahantā bhavennṛ^iṇāṃ kāmadugho guṇāḍhyaḥ
By the grace of the divine, the desires of mortals are fulfilled, as the sacred cow grants the wishes of those who seek her.
िति शरीसकनदपुराणे नागरखणडे सपतछतवारिंशाधिकदविशततमाधयायानतरगतं शवतथमहिमासतोत्रं समापतम
iti śrīskandapurāṇe nāgarakhaṇḍe saptachatvāriṃśādhikadviśatatamādhyāyāntargataṃ aśvatthamahimāstotraṃ samāptam
Thus concludes the Ashvatthamahima Stotra, found within the revered pages of the Skanda Purana, in the Nagarakhanda, a hymn of great glory.
