Himalaya Krita Shiva Stotram
The stotram praises Lord Shiva and seeks his blessings for peace and protection.
हिमालय उवाच । त्वं ब्रह्मा सृष्टिकर्ता च त्वं विष्णुः परिपालकः ।
himālaya uvāca
You are Brahma, the creator of the universe; you are Vishnu, the protector.
त्वं शिवः शिवदोऽनन्तः सर्वसंहारकारकः ॥ १ ॥
tvaṁ brahmā sr̥ṣṭikartā ca tvaṁ viṣṇuḥ paripālakaḥ
You are Shiva, the bestower of auspiciousness, the infinite, the cause of all dissolution.
त्वमीश्वरो गुणातीतो ज्योतीरूपः सनातनः ।
tvaṁ śivaḥ śivadō:'nantaḥ sarvasaṁhārakārakaḥ
You are the Lord, transcending qualities, the eternal form of light.
प्रकृतः प्रकृतीशश्च प्राकृतः प्रकृतेः परः ॥ २ ॥
tvamīśvarō guṇātītō jyōtīrūpaḥ sanātanaḥ
You are the primal being and the lord of nature, beyond the nature itself.
नानारूपविधाता त्वं भक्तानां ध्यानहेतवे ।
prakr̥taḥ prakr̥tīśaśca prākr̥taḥ prakr̥tēḥ paraḥ
You are the one who creates various forms, the cause of meditation for your devotees.
येषु रूपेषु यत्प्रीतिस्तत्तद्रूपं बिभर्षि च ॥ ३ ॥
nānārūpavidhātā tvaṁ bhaktānāṁ dhyānahētavē
In whatever forms there is delight, you embody that form.
सूर्यस्त्वं सृष्टिजनक आधारः सर्वतेजसाम् ।
yēṣu rūpēṣu yatprītistattadrūpaṁ bibharṣi ca
You are the sun, the creator of all beings, the foundation of all brilliance.
सोमस्त्वं सस्यपाता च सततं शीतरश्मिना ॥ ४ ॥
sūryastvaṁ sr̥ṣṭijanaka ādhāraḥ sarvatējasām
You are the moon, the provider of crops, always cool with your rays.
वायुस्त्वं वरुणस्त्वं च त्वमग्निः सर्वदाहकः ।
sōmastvaṁ sasyapātā ca satataṁ śītaraśminā
You are the wind, you are Varuna, and you are fire, always consuming.
इन्द्रस्त्वं देवराजश्च काले मृत्युर्यमस्तथा ॥ ५ ॥
vāyustvaṁ varuṇastvaṁ ca tvamagniḥ sarvadāhakaḥ
You are Indra, the king of gods, and in time, you are death, Yama.
मृत्युञ्जयो मृत्युमृत्युः कालकालो यमान्तकः ।
indrastvaṁ dēvarājaśca kālē mr̥tyuryamastathā
You are the conqueror of death, the death of death, the time of death, Yama's end.
वेदस्त्वं वेदकर्ता च वेदवेदाङ्गपारगः ॥ ६ ॥
mr̥tyuñjayō mr̥tyumr̥tyuḥ kālakālō yamāntakaḥ
You are the Vedas, the creator of the Vedas, the master of the Vedas and their branches.
विदुषां जनकस्त्वं च विद्वांश्च विदुषां गुरुः ।
vēdastvaṁ vēdakartā ca vēdavēdāṅgapāragaḥ
You are the father of the learned, and the teacher of the wise.
मन्त्रस्त्वं हि जपस्त्वं हि तपस्त्वं तत्फलप्रदः ॥ ७ ॥
viduṣāṁ janakastvaṁ ca vidvāṁśca viduṣāṁ guruḥ
You are the mantra, indeed you are the chanting, you are the penance, and you grant the fruits of those.
वाक्त्वं वागधिदेवस्त्वं तत्कर्ता तद्गुरुः स्वयम् ।
mantrastvaṁ hi japastvaṁ hi tapastvaṁ tatphalapradaḥ
You are the embodiment of speech, the creator and the guru himself.
अहो सरस्वतीबीजं कस्त्वां स्तोतुमिहेश्वरः ॥ ८ ॥
vāktvaṁ vāgadhidēvastvaṁ tatkartā tadguruḥ svayam
Oh, who can praise you, the seed of Sarasvati?
इत्येवमुक्त्वा शैलेन्द्रस्तस्थौ धृत्वा पदाम्बुजम् ।
ahō sarasvatībījaṁ kastvāṁ stōtumihēśvaraḥ
Thus speaking, the lord of mountains stood firm, holding the lotus feet.
तदोवाच तमाबोध्य चावरुह्य वृषाच्छिवः ॥ ९ ॥
ityēvamuktvā śailēndrastasthau dhr̥tvā padāmbujam
Then he spoke to him, awakening him, as the auspicious bull descended.
स्तोत्रमेतन्महापुण्यं त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेन्नरः ।
tadōvāca tamābōdhya cāvaruhya vr̥ṣācchivaḥ
This great and sacred hymn, whoever recites it at the three junctions of the day,
मुच्यते सर्वपापेभ्यो भयेभ्यश्च भवार्णवे ॥ १० ॥
stōtramētanmahāpuṇyaṁ trisandhyaṁ yaḥ paṭhēnnaraḥ
will be freed from all sins and from fears in the ocean of existence.
अपुत्रो लभते पुत्रं मासमेकं पठेद्यदि ।
mucyatē sarvapāpēbhyō bhayēbhyaśca bhavārṇavē
A childless person will obtain a son if he recites it for one month.
भार्याहीनो लभेद्भार्यां सुशीलां सुमनोहराम् ॥ ११ ॥
aputrō labhatē putraṁ māsamēkaṁ paṭhēdyadi
A husbandless man will find a virtuous and beautiful wife.
चिरकालगतं वस्तु लभते सहसा ध्रुवम् ।
bhāryāhīnō labhēdbhāryāṁ suśīlāṁ sumanōharām
One who has lost possessions will surely regain them swiftly.
राज्यभ्रष्टो लभेद्राज्यं शङ्करस्य प्रसादतः ॥ १२ ॥
cirakālagataṁ vastu labhatē sahasā dhruvam
A fallen king will regain his kingdom by the grace of Shankara.
कारागारे श्मशाने च शत्रुग्रस्तेऽतिसङ्कटे ।
rājyabhraṣṭō labhēdrājyaṁ śaṅkarasya prasādataḥ
In prison, in the cremation ground, in the grip of enemies,
गभीरेऽतिजलाकीर्णे भग्नपोते विषादने ॥ १३ ॥
kārāgārē śmaśānē ca śatrugrastē:'tisaṅkaṭē
in deep waters, in the midst of calamities, in distress,
रणमध्ये महाभीते हिंस्रजन्तुसमन्विते ।
gabhīrē:'tijalākīrṇē bhagnapōtē viṣādanē
in the midst of battle, in great fear, surrounded by violent beings,
सर्वतो मुच्यते स्तुत्वा शङ्करस्य प्रसादतः ॥ १४ ॥
raṇamadhyē mahābhītē hiṁsrajantusamanvitē
one will be liberated from all sides by praising the grace of Shankara.
इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवर्ते महापुराणे श्रीकृष्णजन्मखण्डे अष्टत्रिंशोऽध्याये हिमालयकृत शिवस्तोत्रम् ।
sarvatō mucyatē stutvā śaṅkarasya prasādataḥ
Thus, in the Brahmavaivarta Purana, in the section on the birth of Lord Krishna,
Atma Panchakam – आत्म पञ्चकम्
iti śrībrahmavaivartē mahāpurāṇē śrīkr̥ṣṇajanmakhaṇḍē aṣṭatriṁśō:'dhyāyē himālayakr̥ta śivastōtram
is the thirty-third chapter, the hymn to Shiva created in the Himalayas.
