ननद ुवाछ
nanda uvācha
Nanda spoke.
िनदरः सुरपतिः शकरो दितिजः पवनागरजः
indraḥ surapatiḥ śakro ditijaḥ pavanāgrajaḥ
Indra, the lord of the gods, the mighty Shakra, son of the demon Diti, the swift wind, the great serpent.
सहसराकŚो भगाङगशछ कशयपाङगज ेव छ
sahasrākŚo bhagāṅgaścha kaśyapāṅgaja eva cha
With a thousand eyes, the glorious one, the son of Kashyapa, the radiant and resplendent.
बिडौजाशछ सुनासीरो मरुतवानपाकशासनः
biḍaujāścha sunāsīro marutvānpākaśāsanaḥ
The one who wields the thunderbolt, the lord of the Maruts, the one who commands the winds.
जयनतजनकः शरीमाञCहछीशो दैतयसूदनः
jayantajanakaḥ śrīmāñChachīśo daityasūdanaḥ
The generator of victory, the one who bestows prosperity, the slayer of demons.
वजरहसतः कामसखो गौतमीवरतनाशनः
vajrahastaḥ kāmasakho gautamīvratanāśanaḥ
The friend of desires, the destroyer of the troubles of Gautami, the one who wields the thunderbolt.
वृ^ित्रहा वासवशछैव दधीछिदेहभिकŚुकः
vṛ^itrahā vāsavaśchaiva dadhīchidehabhikŚukaḥ
The vanquisher of Vritra, the lord of the Vasus, the one who churns the ocean of milk.
विŚणुशछ वामनभराता पुरुहूतः पुरनदरः
viŚṇuścha vāmanabhrātā puruhūtaḥ purandaraḥ
Vishnu, the dwarf, the great priest, the lord of the ancient city.
दिवसपतिः शतमखः सुत्रामा गोत्रभिदविभुः
divaspatiḥ śatamakhaḥ sutrāmā gotrabhidvibhuḥ
The lord of the day, the one with a hundred sacrifices, the one who divides the lineage.
लेखरŚभो बलारातिरजमभभेदी सुराशरयः
lekharŚabho balārātirjambhabhedī surāśrayaḥ
The one who wields the thunderbolt, the one who brings forth strength, the one who destroys the demons.
सङकरनदनो दुशछयवनसतुराŚाणमेघवाहनः
saṅkrandano duśchyavanasturāŚāṇmeghavāhanaḥ
The one with the face of a lion, the one who rides on the clouds, the one who conquers the foes.
ाखणडलो हरिहयो नमुछिपराणनाशनः
ākhaṇḍalo harihayo namuchiprāṇanāśanaḥ
The one who holds the conch, the one who rides the horse, the one who destroys the lives of the demons.
वृ^िदधशरवा वृ^िŚशछैव दैतयदरपनिŚूदनः
vṛ^iddhaśravā vṛ^iŚaśchaiva daityadarpaniŚūdanaḥ
The one who brings forth the strength of the earth, the one who vanquishes the demons.
Śटछतवारिंशननामानि पापघनानि विनिशछितम
Śaṭchatvāriṃśannāmāni pāpaghnāni viniśchitam
The thirty-six names of the lord, which destroy sins, are to be recited.
सतोत्रमेततकौथुमोकतं नितयं यदि पठेननरः
stotrametatkauthumoktaṃ nityaṃ yadi paṭhennaraḥ
This stotra, when recited daily by a devotee, brings liberation.
महाविपततौ शकरसतं वजरहसतशछ रकŚति
mahāvipattau śakrastaṃ vajrahastaścha rakŚati
In great calamities, it protects the one who recites it, like the thunderbolt.
तिवृ^िŚटिशिलावृ^िŚटिवजरपाताछछ दारुणात
ativṛ^iŚṭiśilāvṛ^iŚṭivajrapātāchcha dāruṇāt
In times of dire distress, it shields from the fall of the thunderbolt.
कदाछिनन भयं तसय रकŚिता वासवः सवयम
kadāchinna bhayaṃ tasya rakŚitā vāsavaḥ svayam
No fear shall arise for the one who recites it; the lord of the Vasus himself protects.
यत्र गेहे सतोत्रमिदं यशछ जानाति पुणयवान
yatra gehe stotramidaṃ yaścha jānāti puṇyavān
Wherever this stotra is known, the virtuous shall be blessed.
न तत्र वजरपतनं शिलावृ^िŚटिशछ नारद
na tatra vajrapatanaṃ śilāvṛ^iŚṭiścha nārada
There, no thunderbolt shall fall; Narada himself has declared.
िति बरहमवैवरतपुराणे शरीकृ^िŚणजनमखणडे ेकविंशाधयायानतरगतं िनदरसय Śटछतवारिंशनामसतोत्रं समपूरणम
iti brahmavaivartapurāṇe śrīkṛ^iŚṇajanmakhaṇḍe ekaviṃśādhyāyāntargataṃ indrasya Śaṭchatvāriṃśanāmastotraṃ sampūrṇam
Thus, in the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, within the chapter of Shrikrishna, the complete stotra of Indra's thirty-six names is revealed.
