पुनः सङ्कल्पम् –
śrī gaṇapati laghu pūjā paśyatu
May the worship of Lord Ayyappa be performed.
पूर्वोक्त एवं गुण विशेषण विशिष्टायां शुभ तिथौ श्री पूर्णापुष्कलाम्बा समेत हरिहरपुत्र अय्यप्प स्वामिनः अनुग्रहप्रसाद सिद्ध्यर्थं श्री अय्यप्प स्वामिनः प्रीत्यर्थं ध्यान आवाहनादि षोडशोपचार पूजां करिष्ये ॥
śrī subrahmaṇya pūjā vidhānaṃ paśyatu
Let us observe the preliminary rituals.
ध्यानम् –
punaḥ saṅkalpam – pūrvokta evaṃ guṇa viśeṣaṇa viśiṣṭāyāṃ śubha tithau śrī pūrṇāpuṣkalāmbā sameta hariharaputra ayyappa svāminaḥ anugrahaprasāda siddhyarthaṃ śrī ayyappa svāminaḥ prītyarthaṃ dhyāna āvāhanādi ṣoḍaśopacāra pūjāṃ kariṣye
Let us see the worship of Lord Ganesha.
आश्यामकोमल विशालतनुं विचित्र-
dhyānam – āśyāmakomala viśālatanuṃ vicitra- vāsovasānamaruṇotpala vāmahastam
Let us see the worship of Lord Subrahmanya.
वासोवसानमरुणोत्पल वामहस्तम् ।
uttuṅgaratnamakuṭaṃ kuṭilāgrakeśaṃ śāstāramiṣṭavaradaṃ śaraṇaṃ prapadye
Again, with the resolve –
उत्तुङ्गरत्नमकुटं कुटिलाग्रकेशं
somomaṇḍalamadhyagaṃ trinayanaṃ divyāmbarālaṅkṛtaṃ devaṃ puṣpaśarekṣukārmukalasanmāṇikyapātrābhayam
On this auspicious day, endowed with special qualities, I will perform the sixteen offerings to Lord Ayyappa, the son of Harihara, for the purpose of attaining His grace and blessings.
शास्तारमिष्टवरदं शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥
bibhrāṇaṃ karapaṅkajaiḥ madagajaskandādhirūḍhaṃ vibhuṃ śāstāraṃ śaraṇaṃ namāmi satataṃ trailokyasammohanam
Meditation –
सोमोमण्डलमध्यगं त्रिनयनं दिव्याम्बरालङ्कृतं
āvāhanam – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ āvāhayāmi
I take refuge in the Lord who has a beautiful and vast form, adorned with a robe of red lotus, with a twisted crown and curly hair.
देवं पुष्पशरेक्षुकार्मुकलसन्माणिक्यपात्राभयम् ।
āsanam – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ āsanaṃ samarpayāmi
He is the bestower of desires and the refuge for all.
बिभ्राणं करपङ्कजैः मदगजस्कन्दाधिरूढं विभुं
pādyam – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ pādayoḥ pādyaṃ samarpayāmi
I bow down to the divine being, who is in the center of the moon, with three eyes, adorned with celestial garments,
शास्तारं शरणं नमामि सततं त्रैलोक्यसम्मोहनम् ॥
arghyam – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ hasayoḥ arghyaṃ samarpayāmi
Holding a flower, a bow, and a jeweled vessel,
आवाहनम् –
ācamanīyam – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ ācamanaṃ samarpayāmi
He is mounted on the back of an elephant, surrounded by lotus hands.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः आवाहयामि ।
madhuparkam – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ madhuparkaṃ samarpayāmi
I bow down to the Lord, who enchants the three worlds, always.
आसनम् –
pañcāmṛta snānam – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ kṣīreṇa snapayāmi
Inviting –

पाद्यम् –

Offering a seat –

Om, I bow to the son of Harihara; I offer a seat.
अर्घ्यम् –
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ ikṣurasena snapayāmi
Washing the feet –
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः हसयोः अर्घ्यं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ nārikela jalena snapayāmi
Om, I bow to the son of Harihara; I offer water for washing the feet.
आचमनीयम् –
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ saugandhikā jalena snapayāmi
Offering water –
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः आचमनं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ karpūrikā jalena snapayāmi
Om, I bow to the son of Harihara; I offer water for drinking.
मधुपर्कम् –
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ gaṅgā jalena snapayāmi
Offering for purification –
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः मधुपर्कं समर्पयामि ।
śuddhodaka snānam – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ śuddhodaka snānaṃ samarpayāmi
Om, I bow to the son of Harihara; I offer water for purification.
पञ्चामृत स्नानम् –
vastram – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ vastrayugmaṃ samarpayāmi
Offering honey –
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः क्षीरेण स्नपयामि ।
yajñopavītam – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ yajñopavītaṃ samarpayāmi
Om, I bow to the son of Harihara; I offer honey.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः दध्ना स्नपयामि । ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः आज्येन स्नपयामि ।
parimaladravyāṇi – oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ bhasmaṃ samarpayāmi
Bathing with five nectars –
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः मधुना स्नपयामि । ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः इक्षुरसेन स्नपयामि ।
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ gandhaṃ samarpayāmi
Om, I bow to the son of Harihara; I bathe Him with milk.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः नारिकेल जलेन स्नपयामि । ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः सौगन्धिका जलेन स्नपयामि ।
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ haridrācūrṇaṃ samarpayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with milk.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः कर्पूरिका जलेन स्नपयामि । ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः गङ्गा जलेन स्नपयामि ।

Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with ghee.
शुद्धोदक स्नानम् –
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ tricūrṇaṃ samarpayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with honey.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः शुद्धोदक स्नानं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ kuṅkumaṃ samarpayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with sugarcane juice.
वस्त्रम् –
akṣatān- oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ alaṅkaraṇārthaṃ akṣatān samarpayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with coconut water.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः वस्त्रयुग्मं समर्पयामि ।
aṅgapūjā – oṃ dharmaśāstre namaḥ – pādau pūjayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with fragrant water.
यज्ञोपवीतम् –
oṃ śilpaśāstre namaḥ – gulphau pūjayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with camphor water.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः यज्ञोपवीतं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ vīraśāstre namaḥ – jaṅghe pūjayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with Ganges water.
परिमलद्रव्याणि –
oṃ yogaśāstre namaḥ – jānunīṃ pūjayāmi
Pure water bath –
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः भस्मं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ mahāśāstre namaḥ – ūrūṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with the pure water bath.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः गन्धं समर्पयामि । ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः हरिद्राचूर्णं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ brahmaśāstre namaḥ – kaṭiṃ pūjayāmi
Clothing –
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः सौगन्धिकाचूर्णं समर्पयामि । ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः त्रिचूर्णं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ kālaśāstre namaḥ – guhyaṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with a pair of garments.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः कुङ्कुमं समर्पयामि । अक्षतान्-
oṃ śabarigirīśāya namaḥ – meḍhraṃ pūjayāmi
Sacred thread –
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः अलङ्करणार्थं अक्षतान् समर्पयामि । अङ्गपूजा –
oṃ satyarūpāya namaḥ – nābhiṃ pūjayāmi

ओं धर्मशास्त्रे नमः – पादौ पूजयामि । ओं शिल्पशास्त्रे नमः – गुल्फौ पूजयामि ।
oṃ maṇikaṇṭhāya namaḥ – udaraṃ pūjayāmi
Fragrant substances –
ओं वीरशास्त्रे नमः – जङ्घे पूजयामि । ओं योगशास्त्रे नमः – जानुनीं पूजयामि ।
oṃ viṣṇutanayāya namaḥ – vakṣasthalaṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with ashes.
ओं महाशास्त्रे नमः – ऊरूं पूजयामि । ओं ब्रह्मशास्त्रे नमः – कटिं पूजयामि ।
oṃ śivaputrāya namaḥ – pārśvau pūjayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with fragrance.
ओं कालशास्त्रे नमः – गुह्यं पूजयामि । ओं शबरिगिरीशाय नमः – मेढ्रं पूजयामि ।
oṃ hariharaputrāya namaḥ – hṛdayaṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with turmeric powder.
ओं सत्यरूपाय नमः – नाभिं पूजयामि । ओं मणिकण्ठाय नमः – उदरं पूजयामि ।
oṃ trinetrāya namaḥ – kaṇṭhaṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I offer my salutations to Lord Harihara's son, with fragrant powder.
ओं विष्णुतनयाय नमः – वक्षस्थलं पूजयामि । ओं शिवपुत्राय नमः – पार्श्वौ पूजयामि ।
oṃ oṅkārarūpāya namaḥ – stanau pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the son of Hari and Hara, I offer threefold offerings.
ओं हरिहरपुत्राय नमः – हृदयं पूजयामि । ओं त्रिनेत्राय नमः – कण्ठं पूजयामि ।
oṃ varadahastāya namaḥ – hastān pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the son of Hari and Hara, I offer saffron.
ओं ओङ्काररूपाय नमः – स्तनौ पूजयामि । ओं वरदहस्ताय नमः – हस्तान् पूजयामि ।
oṃ bhīmāya namaḥ – bāhūn pūjayāmi
I offer unbroken rice -
ओं भीमाय नमः – बाहून् पूजयामि । ओं तेजस्विने नमः – मुखं पूजयामि ।
oṃ tejasvine namaḥ – mukhaṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the son of Hari and Hara, I offer unbroken rice for decoration.
ओं अष्टमूर्तये नमः – दन्तान् पूजयामि । ओं शुभवीक्षणाय नमः – नेत्रौ पूजयामि ।
oṃ aṣṭamūrtaye namaḥ – dantān pūjayāmi
For body worship -
ओं कोमलाङ्गाय नमः – कर्णौ पूजयामि । ओं पापविनाशाय नमः – ललाटं पूजयामि ।
oṃ śubhavīkṣaṇāya namaḥ – netrau pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the scripture of Dharma - I worship the feet.
ओं शत्रुनाशाय नमः – नासिकां पूजयामि । ओं पुत्रलाभाय नमः – चुबुकं पूजयामि ।
oṃ komalāṅgāya namaḥ – karṇau pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the scripture of Art - I worship the ankles.
ओं हरिहरात्मजाय नमः – गण्डस्थलं पूजयामि । ओं गणेशपूज्याय नमः – कवचान् पूजयामि ।
oṃ pāpavināśāya namaḥ – lalāṭaṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the scripture of Valor - I worship the thighs.
ओं चिद्रूपाय नमः – शिरसान् पूजयामि । ओं सर्वेशाय नमः – सर्वाण्यङ्गानि पूजयामि ।
oṃ śatrunāśāya namaḥ – nāsikāṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the scripture of Yoga - I worship the knees.
मूलमन्त्रम् –
oṃ putralābhāya namaḥ – cubukaṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the scripture of Greatness - I worship the hips.
अस्य श्री महाशास्त्र्य महामन्त्रस्य रेवन्द ऋषिः देवी गायत्री छन्दः श्री महाशास्ता देवता श्री हरिहरपुत्र अनुग्रह सिद्ध्यर्थे पूजे विनियोगः ।
oṃ hariharātmajāya namaḥ – gaṇḍasthalaṃ pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the scripture of Brahman - I worship the waist.
ओं ह्रीं हरिहरपुत्राय पुत्रलाभाय शत्रुनाशाय मदगजवाहाय महाशास्त्रे नमः । नमस्कारम् –
oṃ gaṇeśapūjyāya namaḥ – kavacān pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the scripture of Time - I worship the secret place.
ओं रत्नाभं सुप्रसन्नं शशिधरमकुटं रत्नभूषाभिरामं
oṃ cidrūpāya namaḥ – śirasān pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the Lord of Shabari Mountain - I worship the male organ.
शूलकेलं कपालं शरमुसलधनुर् बाहु सङ्केतधारम् ।
oṃ sarveśāya namaḥ – sarvāṇyaṅgāni pūjayāmi
Om, I bow to the embodiment of Truth - I worship the navel.
मत्तेभारूढं आद्यं हरिहरतनयं कोमलाङ्गं दयालुं
mūlamantram – asya śrī mahāśāstrya mahāmantrasya revanda ṛṣiḥ devī gāyatrī chandaḥ śrī mahāśāstā devatā śrī hariharaputra anugraha siddhyarthe pūje viniyogaḥ
Om, I bow to the one with a jeweled throat - I worship the belly.
विश्वेशं भक्तवन्द्यं शतजनवरदं ग्रामपालं नमामि ॥
oṃ hrīṃ hariharaputrāya putralābhāya śatrunāśāya madagajavāhāya mahāśāstre namaḥ
Om, I bow to the son of Vishnu - I worship the chest.
अष्टोत्तर शतनामावली –
namaskāram – oṃ ratnābhaṃ suprasannaṃ śaśidharamakuṭaṃ ratnabhūṣābhirāmaṃ śūlakelaṃ kapālaṃ śaramusaladhanur bāhu saṅketadhāram
Om, I bow to the son of Shiva - I worship the sides.
धूपम् –
mattebhārūḍhaṃ ādyaṃ hariharatanayaṃ komalāṅgaṃ dayāluṃ viśveśaṃ bhaktavandyaṃ śatajanavaradaṃ grāmapālaṃ namāmi
Om, I bow to the son of Harihara – I worship the heart.
दशाङ्गं गुग्गुलोपेतं सुगन्धं सुमनोहरम् । महोजसं नमस्तुभ्यं गृहाण वरदो भव ॥
aṣṭottara śatanāmāvalī – śrī ayyappa aṣṭottaraśatanāmāvalī paśyatu
Om, I bow to the one with three eyes – I worship the throat.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः धूपं आघ्रापयामि । दीपम् –
dhūpam – daśāṅgaṃ guggulopetaṃ sugandhaṃ sumanoharam
Om, I bow to the form of Om – I worship the breasts.
साज्यं त्रिवर्ति सम्युक्तं वह्निना द्योतितं मया । गृहाण मङ्गलं दीपं ईशपुत्र नमोऽस्तु ते ॥
mahojasaṃ namastubhyaṃ gṛhāṇa varado bhava
Om, I bow to the one with a boon-giving hand – I worship the hands.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः दीपं दर्शयामि । धूप दीपानन्तरं आचमनीयं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ dhūpaṃ āghrāpayāmi
Om, I bow to the mighty one – I worship the arms.
नैवेद्यम् –
dīpam – sājyaṃ trivarti samyuktaṃ vahninā dyotitaṃ mayā
Om, I bow to the radiant one – I worship the face.
सुगन्धान्सुकृतांश्चैव मोदकान् घृत पाचितान् ।
gṛhāṇa maṅgalaṃ dīpaṃ īśaputra namo'stu te
Om, I bow to the one with eight forms – I worship the teeth.
नैवेद्यं गृह्यतां देव चणमुद्गैः प्रकल्पितान् ॥
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ dīpaṃ darśayāmi
Om, I bow to the one with auspicious glances – I worship the eyes.
भक्ष्यं भोज्यं च लेह्यं च चोष्यं पानीयमेव च ।
dhūpa dīpānantaraṃ ācamanīyaṃ samarpayāmi
Om, I bow to the one with tender limbs – I worship the ears.
इदं गृहाण नैवेद्यं मयादत्तं महाप्रभो ॥
naivedyam – sugandhānsukṛtāṃścaiva modakān ghṛta pācitān
Om, I bow to the one who destroys sins – I worship the forehead.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः नैवेद्यं समर्पयामि ।
naivedyaṃ gṛhyatāṃ deva caṇamudgaiḥ prakalpitān
Om, I bow to the one who destroys enemies – I worship the nose.
ओं भूर्भुव॑स्सुव॑: । तत्स॑वितु॒र्वरे᳚ण्य॒म् । भ॒र्गो॑ दे॒वस्य॑ धी॒महि ।
bhakṣyaṃ bhojyaṃ ca lehyaṃ ca coṣyaṃ pānīyameva ca
Om, I bow to the one who grants sons – I worship the chin.
धियो॒ योन॑: प्रचो॒दया᳚त् ॥
idaṃ gṛhāṇa naivedyaṃ mayādattaṃ mahāprabho
Om, I bow to the son of Harihara – I worship the cheeks.
सत्यं त्वा ऋतेन परिषिञ्चामि ।
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ naivedyaṃ samarpayāmi
Om, I bow to the one who is worshipped by Ganesha – I worship the arms.
(सायंकाले – ऋतं त्वा सत्येन परिषिञ्चामि)
oṃ bhūrbhuva̍ssuva̍:
Om, I bow to the one who is the essence of consciousness – I worship the head.
अमृतमस्तु । अ॒मृ॒तो॒प॒स्तर॑णमसि ।
tatsa̍vitu̱rvare̎ṇya̱m
Om, I bow to all beings – I worship all limbs.
ओं प्रा॒णाय॒ स्वाहा᳚ । ओं अ॒पा॒नाय॒ स्वाहा᳚ । ओं व्या॒नाय॒ स्वाहा᳚ । ओं उ॒दा॒नाय॒ स्वाहा᳚ । ओं स॒मा॒नाय॒ स्वाहा᳚ ।

Root mantra –

This is the great mantra of the great scripture, composed by the sage Revanda, with the Gayatri meter, dedicated to the great deity Mahashasta, for the grace and success of Sri Haraharputra, I offer this worship.
ताम्बूलम् –
satyaṃ tvā ṛtena pariṣiñcāmi
Om, to Haraharputra, for the attainment of sons, for the destruction of enemies, for the one who rides the elephant of pride, I bow to the great scripture.
पूगीफलसमायुक्तं नागवल्लीदलैर्युतम् ।
(sāyaṅkāle – ṛtaṃ tvā satyena pariṣiñcāmi) amṛtamastu
Salutation –
कर्पूरचूर्णसम्युक्तं ताम्बूलं प्रतिगृह्यताम् ॥
a̱mṛ̱to̱pa̱stara̍ṇamasi
Om, I bow to the jewel-faced, very pleasing one, adorned with the crescent moon crown, delightful with jewel ornaments,
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः ताम्बूलं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ prā̱ṇāya̱ svāhā̎
the one holding the trident, the skull, the bow, the pestle, and the arm that holds the sign,
नीराजनम् –
oṃ a̱pā̱nāya̱ svāhā̎
the one mounted on the elephant, the original Harihara's son, with a tender body, compassionate,
घृतवर्ति सहस्रैश्च कर्पूरशकलैः स्थितम् ।
oṃ vyā̱nāya̱ svāhā̎
the lord of the universe, worthy of devotion from devotees, the granter of boons to the hundred people, the protector of the village, I bow.
नीराजनं मयादत्तं गृहाण वरदोभव ॥
oṃ u̱dā̱nāya̱ svāhā̎
Aṣṭottara Śatanāmāvalī –
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः आनन्द कर्पूर नीराजनं समर्पयामि ।
oṃ sa̱mā̱nāya̱ svāhā̎
May the Aṣṭottara Śatanāmāvalī of Sri Ayyappa be seen.
नीरजनानन्तरं शुद्ध आचमनीयं समर्पयामि । नमस्कारम् –
madhye madhye pānīyaṃ samarpayāmi
Incense –
ओं श्री स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा । लोकवीरं महापूज्यं सर्वरक्षाकरं विभुम् ।
a̱mṛ̱tā̱pi̱dhā̱nama̍si
With ten parts, mixed with guggulu, fragrant and pleasing to the senses,
पार्वती हृदयानन्दं शास्तारं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥ १ ॥
uttarāpośanaṃ samarpayāmi
I bow to you, O great one, accept this offering and be gracious.
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा ।
hastau prakṣālayāmi
Om, I offer this incense to Sri Haraharputra.
विप्रपूज्यं विश्ववन्द्यं विष्णुशम्भोः प्रियं सुतम् । क्षिप्रप्रसादनिरतं शास्तारं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥ २ ॥
pādau prakṣālayāmi
Lamp –
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा । मत्तमातङ्गगमनं कारुण्यामृतपूरितम् ।
śuddhācamanīyaṃ samarpayāmi
With the auspicious light, mixed with three wicks, illuminated by fire,
सर्वविघ्नहरं देवं शास्तारं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥ ३ ॥
tāmbūlam – pūgīphalasamāyuktaṃ nāgavallīdalairyutam
accept this auspicious lamp, O son of God, I bow to you.
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा ।
karpūracūrṇasamyuktaṃ tāmbūlaṃ pratigṛhyatām
Om, I show this lamp to Sri Haraharputra.
अस्मत्कुलेश्वरं देवमस्मच्छत्रु विनाशनम् । अस्मदिष्टप्रदातारं शास्तारं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥ ४ ॥
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ tāmbūlaṃ samarpayāmi
After the incense and lamp, I offer water for purification.
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा । पाण्ड्येशवंशतिलकं केरले केलिविग्रहम् ।
nīrājanam – ghṛtavarti sahasraiśca karpūraśakalaiḥ sthitam
Food offering –
आर्तत्राणपरं देवं शास्तारं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥ ५ ॥
nīrājanaṃ mayādattaṃ gṛhāṇa varadobhava
Fragrant and well-prepared, sweet modakas cooked in ghee,
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा ।
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ ānanda karpūra nīrājanaṃ samarpayāmi
may this offering be accepted, O God, prepared with split gram.
पञ्चरत्नाख्यमेतद्यो नित्यं शुद्धः पठेन्नरः । तस्य प्रसन्नो भगवान् शास्ता वसति मानसे ॥
nīrajanānantaraṃ śuddha ācamanīyaṃ samarpayāmi
This is food to be eaten, chewed, licked, and drunk.
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा । अरुणोदय सङ्काशं नीलकुण्डलधारिणं
namaskāram – oṃ śrī svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
Accept this offering of food that I have given, O great Lord.
नीलाम्बरधरं देवं वन्देऽहं शङ्करात्मजम् ॥
lokavīraṃ mahāpūjyaṃ sarvarakṣākaraṃ vibhum
Om, I offer this food to the son of Harihara.
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा ।
pārvatī hṛdayānandaṃ śāstāraṃ praṇamāmyaham
Om, Earth, Atmosphere, and Heaven:
चापबाणं वामहस्तं रौप्यवेत्रं च दक्षिणे
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
May we meditate on the divine light of that adorable Sun.
विलसत्कुण्डलधरं देवं वन्देऽहं विष्णुनन्दनम् ॥
viprapūjyaṃ viśvavandyaṃ viṣṇuśambhoḥ priyaṃ sutam
May it inspire our intellects.
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा । व्याघ्रारूढं रक्तनेत्रं स्वर्णमाला विभूषणं
kṣipraprasādanirataṃ śāstāraṃ praṇamāmyaham
I anoint you with truth.
वीरपट्टधरं देवं वन्देऽहं ब्रह्मनन्दनम् ॥
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
(In the evening – I anoint you with truth.)
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा ।
mattamātaṅgagamanaṃ kāruṇyāmṛtapūritam
May there be immortality.
किङ्किण्योड्राण भूपेतं पूर्ण चन्द्रनिभाननः
sarvavighnaharaṃ devaṃ śāstāraṃ praṇamāmyaham
You are the bed of immortality.
किरातरूप शास्तारं वन्देऽहं पाण्ड्यनन्दनम् ॥
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
Om, to the life force, I offer my salutations.
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा । भूतभेतालसंसेव्यं काञ्चनाद्रि निवासिनं
asmatkuleśvaraṃ devamasmacchatru vināśanam
Om, to the excretory force, I offer my salutations.
मणिकण्ठमिति ख्यातं वन्देऽहं शक्तिनन्दनम् ॥
asmadiṣṭapradātāraṃ śāstāraṃ praṇamāmyaham
Om, to the vital force, I offer my salutations.
स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्पा ।
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
Om, to the upward-moving force, I offer my salutations.
मन्त्रपुष्पम् –
pāṇḍyeśavaṃśatilakaṃ kerale kelivigraham
Om, to the balancing force, I offer my salutations.
ओं तत्पुरुषाय विद्महे मणिकण्ठाय धीमहि तन्नो शास्ता प्रचोदयात् ।
ārtatrāṇaparaṃ devaṃ śāstāraṃ praṇamāmyaham
I offer water in between.
ओं परात्मजाय विद्महे हरिपुत्राय धीमहि तन्नो शास्ता प्रचोदयात् । स्वामिये शरणं अय्यप्प ।
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
You are the nectar of immortality.
प्रदक्षिण –
pañcaratnākhyametadyo nityaṃ śuddhaḥ paṭhennaraḥ
I offer the northern oblation.
यानिकानिच पापानि जन्मान्तरकृतानि च ।
tasya prasanno bhagavān śāstā vasati mānase
I wash my hands.
तानि तानि प्रणश्यन्ति प्रदक्षिण पदे पदे ॥
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
I wash my feet.
पापोऽहं पापकर्माऽहं पापात्मा पापसम्भवः ।
aruṇodaya saṅkāśaṃ nīlakuṇḍaladhāriṇaṃ nīlāmbaradharaṃ devaṃ vande'haṃ śaṅkarātmajam
I offer pure water for sipping.
त्राहि मां कृपया देव शरणागतवत्सल ॥
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
Betel nut –
अन्यधा शरणं नास्ति त्वमेव शरणं मम ।
cāpabāṇaṃ vāmahastaṃ raupyavetraṃ ca dakṣiṇe vilasatkuṇḍaladharaṃ devaṃ vande'haṃ viṣṇunandanam
Mixed with the fruit of the betel vine and the leaves of the snake vine,
तस्मात्कारुण्य भावेन रक्ष हरिहरात्मजा ॥
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
And combined with powdered camphor, please accept this betel nut.
ओं श्री हरिहरपुत्राय नमः प्रदक्षिण नमस्कारान् समर्पयामि ।
vyāghrārūḍhaṃ raktanetraṃ svarṇamālā vibhūṣaṇaṃ vīrapaṭṭadharaṃ devaṃ vande'haṃ brahmanandanam
Om, I bow to Lord Harihara's son; I offer this betel nut.
क्षमाप्रार्थना –
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
For the light offering –
यस्यस्मृत्या च नामोक्त्या तपः पूजा क्रियादिषु ।
kiṅkiṇyoḍrāṇa bhūpetaṃ pūrṇa candranibhānanaḥ kirātarūpa śāstāraṃ vande'haṃ pāṇḍyanandanam
With ghee lamps and a thousand pieces of camphor placed,
न्यूनं सम्पूर्णतां याति सद्यो वन्दे तमच्युतम् ॥
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
I present this light offering; please accept it, O granter of boons.
मन्त्रहीनं क्रियाहीनं भक्तिहीनं हरात्मज ।
bhūtabhetālasaṃsevyaṃ kāñcanādri nivāsinaṃ maṇikaṇṭhamiti khyātaṃ vande'haṃ śaktinandanam
Om, I bow to Lord Harihara's son; I offer this blissful camphor light.
यत्पूजितं मया देव परिपूर्णं तदस्तुते ॥
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappā
After the light offering, I offer pure water for sipping.
अनया ध्यान आवाहनादि षोडशोपचार पूजया भगवान् सर्वात्मिकः श्री पूर्णपुष्कलाम्बा समेत हरिहरपुत्र अय्यप्पस्वामि सुप्रीतो सुप्रसन्नो वरदो भवतु ॥
mantrapuṣpam – mantrapuṣpaṃ paśyatu
For the salutation –
श्री अय्यप्प स्वामि प्रसादं शिरसा गृह्णामि ॥
oṃ tatpuruṣāya vidmahe maṇikaṇṭhāya dhīmahi tanno śāstā pracodayāt
Om, I take refuge in you, O Lord.
स्वामि शरणु घोष –
oṃ parātmajāya vidmahe hariputrāya dhīmahi tanno śāstā pracodayāt
You are the hero of the world, highly revered, the protector of all.
स्वामि शरणं – अय्यप्प शरणं
svāmiye śaraṇaṃ ayyappa
I bow to the Lord, the source of joy in the heart of Pārvatī.
भगवान् शरणं – भगवति शरणं
pradakṣiṇa – yānikānica pāpāni janmāntarakṛtāni ca
O Lord, I take refuge in you, Ayyappa.
देवन् शरणं – देवी शरणं
tāni tāni praṇaśyanti pradakṣiṇa pade pade
I bow to the revered one, the universally worshipped, the beloved son of Vishnu and Shiva.
देवन् पादं – देवी पादं
pāpo'haṃ pāpakarmā'haṃ pāpātmā pāpasambhavaḥ
I bow to the Lord, who is quick to grant grace.
स्वामि पादं – अय्यप्प पादं
trāhi māṃ kṛpayā deva śaraṇāgatavatsala
O Lord, I take refuge in you, Ayyappa.
भगवाने – भगवतिये
anyadhā śaraṇaṃ nāsti tvameva śaraṇaṃ mama
The one who rides the intoxicated elephant, filled with the nectar of compassion.
ईश्वरने – ईश्वरिये
tasmātkāruṇya bhāvena rakṣa hariharātmajā
I bow to the God who removes all obstacles.
देवने – देविये
oṃ śrī hariharaputrāya namaḥ pradakṣiṇa namaskārān samarpayāmi
O Lord, I take refuge in you, Ayyappa.
शक्तने – शक्तिये
kṣamāprārthanā – yasyasmṛtyā ca nāmoktyā tapaḥ pūjā kriyādiṣu
The deity of our lineage, the destroyer of our enemies.
स्वामिये – अय्यपो
nyūnaṃ sampūrṇatāṃ yāti sadyo vande tamacyutam
I bow to the Lord, the giver of our desires.
पल्लिकट्टु – शबरिमलक्कु
mantrahīnaṃ kriyāhīnaṃ bhaktihīnaṃ harātmaja
O Lord, I take refuge in you, Ayyappa.
इरुमुडिकट्टु – शबरिमलक्कु
yatpūjitaṃ mayā deva paripūrṇaṃ tadastute
The jewel of the Pandya dynasty, the embodiment of joy in Kerala.
कत्तुंकट्टु – शबरिमलक्कु
anayā dhyāna āvāhanādi ṣoḍaśopacāra pūjayā bhagavān sarvātmikaḥ śrī pūrṇapuṣkalāmbā sameta hariharaputra ayyappasvāmi suprīto suprasanno varado bhavatu
I bow to the Lord, who is the protector in times of distress.
कल्लुंमुल्लुं – कालिकिमेत्तै
śrī ayyappa svāmi prasādaṃ śirasā gṛhṇāmi
O Lord, I take refuge in you, Ayyappa.
एत्तिविडय्या – तूकिक्कविडय्या
svāmi śaraṇu ghoṣa – śrī ayyappa śaraṇughoṣa paśyatu

I bow to the deity who is like the rising sun, adorned with blue earrings,
स्वामिमारे – अय्यप्पमारे
yatra̱ pūrve̍ sā̱dhyāḥ santi̍ de̱vāḥ
Wearing blue garments, the son of Shankara.
नेय्याभिषेकं – स्वामिक्के
śrī pūrṇapuṣkalāmbā sameta hariharaputra ayyappa svāminaṃ yathā sthānaṃ praveśayāmi harivarāsanam – (rātri pūjā anantaraṃ) harivarāsanaṃ paśyatu
I take refuge in you, O Ayyappa.
कर्पूरदीपं – स्वामिक्के
sarvaṃ śrī ayyappasvāmi pādārpaṇamastu
I bow to the deity with a bow and arrow in his left hand, holding a silver staff in the right,
पालाभिषेकं – स्वामिक्के
oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ
Adorned with shining earrings, the son of Vishnu.
