Sri Chandra Stotram 4
The stotra praises Chandra and seeks his blessings for mental peace and emotional well-being.
ध्यानम् –
dhyānam – śvētāmbarānvitavapurvaraśubhravarṇaṁ śvētāśvayuktarathagaṁ surasēvitāṅghrim
I bow to the moon, who is adorned with a white body, having a beautiful form and a luminous complexion.
श्वेताम्बरान्वितवपुर्वरशुभ्रवर्णं
dōrbhyāṁ dhr̥tābhayagadaṁ varadaṁ sudhāṁśuṁ śrīvatsamauktikadharaṁ praṇamāmi candram
He rides a white horse-drawn chariot, and his feet are worshipped by the gods.
श्वेताश्वयुक्तरथगं सुरसेविताङ्घ्रिम् । दोर्भ्यां धृताभयगदं वरदं सुधांशुं
āgnēyabhāgē sarathō daśāśva- -ścātrēyajō yāmunadēśajaśca
Holding a mace that dispels fear in his hands, he is the giver of boons, and he is the moon among the stars.
श्रीवत्समौक्तिकधरं प्रणमामि चन्द्रम् ॥ १ ॥
pratyaṅmukhasthaścaturasrapīṭhē gadādharāṅgō vararōhiṇīśaḥ
I bow to the moon, who holds the jewel of Srivatsa.
आग्नेयभागे सरथो दशाश्व-
candraṁ caturbhujaṁ dēvaṁ kēyūramakuṭōjjvalam
In the Agneya direction, he is the charioteer of the ten horses,
-श्चात्रेयजो यामुनदेशजश्च । प्रत्यङ्मुखस्थश्चतुरस्रपीठे
vāsudēvasya nayanaṁ śaṅkarasya ca bhūṣaṇam
He is the one who is present in the land of Yamuna, and he is seated on a fourfold seat.
गदाधराङ्गो वररोहिणीशः ॥ २ ॥
candraṁ ca dvibhujaṁ jñēyaṁ śvētavastradharaṁ vibhum
He is the bearer of the mace and the lord of the beautiful woman.
चन्द्रं चतुर्भुजं देवं केयूरमकुटोज्ज्वलम् ।
śvētamālyāmbaradharaṁ śvētagandhānulēpanam
I meditate on the moon, the four-armed deity, who is adorned with a brilliant crown.
वासुदेवस्य नयनं शङ्करस्य च भूषणम् ॥ ३ ॥
śvētacchatradharaṁ dēvaṁ sarvābharaṇabhūṣitam
He is the eye of Vasudeva and the ornament of Shankara.
चन्द्रं च द्विभुजं ज्ञेयं श्वेतवस्त्रधरं विभुम् ।
ētat stōtraṁ paṭhitvā tu sarvasampatkaraṁ śubham
The moon is to be known as the two-armed one, who wears white garments and is all-pervading.
श्वेतमाल्याम्बरधरं श्वेतगन्धानुलेपनम् ॥ ४ ॥
phalaśrutiḥ – kṣayāpasmārakuṣṭhādi tāpajvaranivāraṇam
He is adorned with a white garland and a white robe, and he is smeared with fragrant substances.
श्वेतच्छत्रधरं देवं सर्वाभरणभूषितम् ।
idaṁ niśākarastōtraṁ yaḥ paṭhēt satataṁ naraḥ
He is the deity who holds a white umbrella and is adorned with all kinds of ornaments.
एतत् स्तोत्रं पठित्वा तु सर्वसम्पत्करं शुभम् ॥ ५ ॥
sōpadravāt pramucyēta nātra kāryā vicāraṇā
By reciting this stotra, one attains all prosperity and auspiciousness.
फलश्रुतिः –
iti śrībrahmāṇḍapurāṇē umāmahēśvarasaṁvādē niśākara stōtram
