Sri Mahadeva Stotram
The stotra consists of verses that extol the glory and virtues of Lord Mahadeva, focusing on His role as the protector and guide of devotees.
बृहस्पतिरुवाच । जय देव परानन्द जय चित्सत्यविग्रह ।
br̥haspatiruvāca
Victory to the divine, the supreme bliss, victory to the embodiment of consciousness and truth.
जय संसारलोकघ्न जय पापहर प्रभो ॥ १ ॥
jaya dēva parānanda jaya citsatyavigraha
Victory to the destroyer of the worldly realm, victory to the lord who removes sins.
जय पूर्णमहादेव जय देवारिमर्दन ।
jaya saṁsāralōkaghna jaya pāpahara prabhō
Victory to the complete great god, victory to the slayer of the demon Dēva.
जय कल्याण देवेश जय त्रिपुरमर्दन ॥ २ ॥
jaya pūrṇamahādēva jaya dēvārimardana
Victory to the auspicious lord of gods, victory to the destroyer of Tripura.
जयाऽहङ्कारशत्रुघ्न जय मायाविषापहा ।
jaya kalyāṇa dēvēśa jaya tripuramardana
Victory to the conqueror of ego, victory to the remover of the curse of illusion.
जय वेदान्तसंवेद्य जय वाचामगोचरा ॥ ३ ॥
jayā:'haṅkāraśatrughna jaya māyāviṣāpahā
Victory to the essence of Vedanta, victory to the one who transcends speech.
जय रागहर श्रेष्ठ जय विद्वेषहराग्रज ।
jaya vēdāntasaṁvēdya jaya vācāmagōcarā
Victory to the greatest remover of attachment, victory to the elder brother of the destroyer of hatred.
जय साम्ब सदाचार जय देवसमाहित ॥ ४ ॥
jaya rāgahara śrēṣṭha jaya vidvēṣaharāgraja
Victory to the ever virtuous Samba, victory to the one who is worshipped by the gods.
जय ब्रह्मादिभिः पूज्य जय विष्णोः परामृत ।
jaya sāmba sadācāra jaya dēvasamāhita
Victory to the one who is revered by Brahma and others, victory to the supreme nectar of Vishnu.
जय विद्या महेशान जय विद्याप्रदानिशम् ॥ ५ ॥
jaya brahmādibhiḥ pūjya jaya viṣṇōḥ parāmr̥ta
Victory to the knowledge of the great lord, victory to the bestower of knowledge always.
जय सर्वाङ्गसम्पूर्ण नागाभरणभूषण ।
jaya vidyā mahēśāna jaya vidyāpradāniśam
Victory to the one who is adorned with all limbs, the ornament of the serpent.
जय ब्रह्मविदाम्प्राप्य जय भोगापवर्गदः ॥ ६ ॥
jaya sarvāṅgasampūrṇa nāgābharaṇabhūṣaṇa
Victory to the one who grants liberation to those who attain the knowledge of Brahman, victory to the giver of enjoyment and liberation.
जय कामहर प्राज्ञ जय कारुण्यविग्रह ।
jaya brahmavidāmprāpya jaya bhōgāpavargadaḥ
Victory to the wise who removes desires, victory to the embodiment of compassion.
जय भस्ममहादेव जय भस्मावगुण्ठितः ॥ ७ ॥
jaya kāmahara prājña jaya kāruṇyavigraha
Victory to the great god of ashes, victory to the one who is covered in ashes.
जय भस्मरतानां तु पाशभङ्गपरायण ।
jaya bhasmamahādēva jaya bhasmāvaguṇṭhitaḥ
Victory to those who are devoted to the ashes, who are the destroyers of bondage.
जय हृत्पङ्कजे नित्यं यतिभिः पूज्यविग्रहः ॥ ८ ॥
jaya bhasmaratānāṁ tu pāśabhaṅgaparāyaṇa
Victory to the lotus of the heart, eternally worshipped by the ascetics.
श्रीसूत उवाच ।
jaya hr̥tpaṅkajē nityaṁ yatibhiḥ pūjyavigrahaḥ
Sūta said:
इति स्तुत्वा महादेवं प्रणिपत्य बृहस्पतिः । कृतार्थः क्लेशनिर्मुक्तो भक्त्या परवशो भवेत् ॥ ९ ॥
śrīsūta uvāca
Having praised Mahādeva and bowing down, Brihaspati became fulfilled and freed from suffering, becoming devoted and submissive.
य इदं पठते नित्यं सन्ध्ययोरुभयोरपि । भक्तिपारङ्गतो भूत्वा परम्ब्रह्माधिगच्छति ॥ १० ॥
iti stutvā mahādēvaṁ praṇipatya br̥haspatiḥ
Whoever recites this daily at dawn and dusk, becoming immersed in devotion, attains the Supreme Brahman.
गङ्गा प्रवाहवत्तस्य वाग्विभूतिर्विजृम्भते । बृहस्पति समो बुद्ध्या गुरुभक्त्या मया समः ॥ ११ ॥
kr̥tārthaḥ klēśanirmuktō bhaktyā paravaśō bhavēt
The Ganges flows with such a current, and the eloquence of speech blossoms forth.
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान् कन्यार्थी कन्यकामिमात् । ब्रह्मवर्चसकामस्तु तदाप्नोति न संशयः ॥ १२ ॥
ya idaṁ paṭhatē nityaṁ sandhyayōrubhayōrapi
With intellect equal to Brihaspati's, I am equal in devotion to my guru.
तस्माद्भवद्भिर्मुनयः सन्ध्ययोरुभयोरपि । जप्यं स्तोत्रमिदं पुण्यं देवदेवस्य भक्तितः ॥ १३ ॥
bhaktipāraṅgatō bhūtvā parambrahmādhigacchati
One desiring a son will obtain sons, and one desiring a daughter will obtain a daughter.
इति श्री महादेव स्तोत्रम् ॥
gaṅgā pravāhavattasya vāgvibhūtirvijr̥mbhatē
The one who desires the glory of Brahman will surely attain it, without doubt.
Sri Pashupathi Ashtakam – पशुपत्यष्टकम्
br̥haspati samō buddhyā gurubhaktyā mayā samaḥ
Therefore, O sages, at dawn and dusk, this auspicious hymn should be chanted in devotion to the Lord of Lords.
Sri Rudra Stuti – श्री रुद्र स्तुतिः
putrārthī labhatē putrān kanyārthī kanyakāmimāt
Thus is the hymn to Mahādeva.
