Sri Matangi Stotram 5
The Sri Matangi Stotram consists of verses that praise Goddess Matangi, focusing on her attributes related to knowledge and creativity.
नमामि देवीं नवचन्द्रमौलिं
namāmi dēvīṁ navacandramauliṁ mātaṅginīṁ candrakalāvataṁsām
I bow to the goddess, the one with the new moon on her head,
मातङ्गिनीं चन्द्रकलावतंसाम् ।
āmnāyavākyaiḥ pratipādanārthē prabōdhayantīṁ śukamādarēṇa
the mother of the elephant, resembling the moon's swan,
आम्नायवाक्यैः प्रतिपादनार्थे
kr̥tārthayantīṁ padavīṁ padābhyāṁ āsphālayantīṁ kalavallakīṁ tām
who enlightens with the words of the scriptures,
प्रबोधयन्तीं शुकमादरेण ॥ १ ॥
mātaṅginīṁ saddhr̥dayān dhinōmi nilāṁśukāṁ śuddhanitambacēlām
and fulfills the desires of the wise with affection.
कृतार्थयन्तीं पदवीं पदाभ्यां
tālīdalēnārpita karṇabhūṣāṁ mādhvīmadōdghūrṇita nētrapadmām
I bow to her who grants the path with her two feet,
आस्फालयन्तीं कलवल्लकीं ताम् ।
ghanastanīṁ śambhuvadhūṁ namāmi taḍillatākāntimanarghyabhūṣām
who brings forth the art of music,
मातङ्गिनीं सद्धृदयान् धिनोमि
namastē mātaṅgyai mr̥dumudita tanvyai tanumatāṁ paraśrēyōdāyai kamalacaraṇadhyānamanasām
the mother of the elephant, I bow to her with a sincere heart,
निलांशुकां शुद्धनितम्बचेलाम् ॥ २ ॥
sadā saṁsēvyāyai sadasivibudhairdivyadhiṣaṇaiḥ dayārdrāyai dēvyai duritadalanōddaṇḍamanasē
dressed in blue garments, with a pure waistcloth.
तालीदलेनार्पित कर्णभूषां
paraṁ mātastē yō japatimanumēvōgrahr̥dayaḥ kavitvaṁ kalpānāṁ kalayati sukalpaḥ pratipadam
Adorned with earrings offered on the leaves of the tala tree,
माध्वीमदोद्घूर्णित नेत्रपद्माम् ।
api prāyōramyāṁ mr̥tamayapadāyasyalalitā vaṭīcādyāvāṇī naṭati rasanāyāṁ ca phalitā
with eyes like blooming lotuses, fragrant with honey,
घनस्तनीं शम्भुवधूं नमामि
sarvalakṣaṇasamyuktā puṣpiṇīmarcayēcchivē
I bow to her, the wife of Shiva, with a solid form.
तडिल्लताकान्तिमनर्घ्यभूषाम् ॥ ३ ॥
mataṅgamuninōktaṁ ca sadyaḥ siddhikaraṁ bhuvi
With a body that shines like lightning and is adorned with precious ornaments,
नमस्ते मातङ्ग्यै मृदुमुदित तन्व्यै तनुमतां
iti śrī mātaṅgī stōtram
salutations to you, O mother, with a gentle and joyful form,
