Sri Shanmukha Bhujanga Stuti
This stotra is a devotional hymn that praises Lord Murugan, focusing on his protective qualities and the strength he provides to his devotees.
श्री सुब्रह्मण्य स्तोत्राणि
hriyā lakṣmyā vallyā surapr̥tanayā:':'liṅgitatanuḥ mayūrārūḍhō:'yaṁ śivavadanapaṅkēruharaviḥ
With humility, I bow to the divine form of Subrahmanya, the son of the goddess of wealth, who is adorned with a beautiful body.
ह्रिया लक्ष्म्या वल्ल्या सुरपृतनयाऽऽलिङ्गिततनुः
ṣaḍāsyō bhaktānāmacalahr̥divāsaṁ pratanavai itīmaṁ buddhiṁ drāgacalanilayaḥ sañjanayati
He who rides a peacock, the one who is worshipped by all, is the embodiment of auspiciousness.
मयूरारूढोऽयं शिववदनपङ्केरुहरविः । षडास्यो भक्तानामचलहृदिवासं प्रतनवै
smitanyakkr̥tēnduprabhākundapuṣpaṁ sitābhrāgarupraṣṭhagandhānuliptam
He who resides in the hearts of his devotees, may he grant us wisdom and understanding.
इतीमं बुद्धिं द्रागचलनिलयः सञ्जनयति ॥ १ ॥
śritāśēṣalōkēṣṭadānāmaradruṁ sadā ṣaṇmukhaṁ bhāvayē hr̥tsarōjē
With a smile that radiates like the moon, he is adorned with the fragrance of flowers.
स्मितन्यक्कृतेन्दुप्रभाकुन्दपुष्पं
śarīrēndriyādāvahambhāvajātān ṣaḍūrmīrvikārāṁśca śatrūnnihantum
He who is the wish-fulfilling tree for all beings, may he always be meditated upon in the lotus of our hearts.
सिताभ्रागरुप्रष्ठगन्धानुलिप्तम् । श्रिताशेषलोकेष्टदानामरद्रुं
natānāṁ dadhē yastamāsyābjaṣaṭkaṁ sadā ṣaṇmukhaṁ bhāvayē hr̥tsarōjē
He who is born from the essence of the body and senses, is the one who destroys the six transformations of existence.
सदा षण्मुखं भावये हृत्सरोजे ॥ २ ॥
aparṇākhyavallīsamāślēṣayōgāt purā sthāṇutō yō:'janiṣṭāmarārtham
He who bears the six-lettered mantra, may he always be meditated upon in the lotus of our hearts.
शरीरेन्द्रियादावहम्भावजातान्
viśākhaṁ nagē vallikā:':'liṅgitaṁ taṁ sadā ṣaṇmukhaṁ bhāvayē hr̥tsarōjē
Through the embrace of the vine known as Aparna, he was born for the sake of the world.
षडूर्मीर्विकारांश्च शत्रून्निहन्तुम् । नतानां दधे यस्तमास्याब्जषट्कं
gukārēṇa vācyaṁ tamō bāhyamantaḥ svadēhābhayā jñānadānēna hanti
He who is the moon among the stars, may he always be meditated upon in the lotus of our hearts.
सदा षण्मुखं भावये हृत्सरोजे ॥ ३ ॥
ya ēnaṁ guhaṁ vēdaśīrṣaikamēyaṁ sadā ṣaṇmukhaṁ bhāvayē hr̥tsarōjē
He who is spoken of as the sound of the syllable 'gu', is beyond the external and internal.
अपर्णाख्यवल्लीसमाश्लेषयोगात्
yataḥ karmamārgō bhuvi khyāpitastaṁ svanr̥tyē nimittasya hētuṁ viditvā
He who destroys ignorance with the knowledge of the self, may he always be meditated upon in the lotus of our hearts.
पुरा स्थाणुतो योऽजनिष्टामरार्थम् । विशाखं नगे वल्लिकाऽऽलिङ्गितं तं
vahatyādarānmēghanādānulāsī sadā ṣaṇmukhaṁ bhāvayē hr̥tsarōjē
From whom the path of action is revealed on earth, may he always be meditated upon in the lotus of our hearts.
सदा षण्मुखं भावये हृत्सरोजे ॥ ४ ॥
kr̥pāvārirāśirnr̥ṇāmāstikatvaṁ dr̥ḍhaṁ kartumadyāpi yaḥ kukkuṭādīn
He who is the cause of the dance of the clouds, may he always be meditated upon in the lotus of our hearts.
गुकारेण वाच्यं तमो बाह्यमन्तः
bhr̥śaṁ pācitān jīvayanrājatē taṁ sadā ṣaṇmukhaṁ bhāvayē hr̥tsarōjē
The ocean of compassion, who strengthens the faith of beings, may he always be meditated upon in the lotus of our hearts.
स्वदेहाभया ज्ञानदानेन हन्ति । य एनं गुहं वेदशीर्षैकमेयं
bhujaṅgaprayātēna vr̥ttēna kluptāṁ stutiṁ ṣaṇmukhasyādarādyē paṭhanti
He who revives those who are weak and suffering, may he always be meditated upon in the lotus of our hearts.
सदा षण्मुखं भावये हृत्सरोजे ॥ ५ ॥
suputrāyurārōgyasampadviśiṣṭān karōtyēva tān ṣaṇmukhaḥ sadvidagryān
Those who recite the praises of Subrahmanya, who is adorned with serpents, will be blessed with good sons, long life, and prosperity.
यतः कर्ममार्गो भुवि ख्यापितस्तं
iti śrīśr̥ṅgēri śāradāpīṭha jagadguru śrīcandraśēkharabhāratī svāmibhiḥ viracitaṁ śrīṣaṇmukha bhujaṅga stutiḥ
