Sri Shiva Navaratna Stava
This stotra celebrates Lord Shiva using the metaphor of nine gems, each representing different aspects of life and devotion.
बृहस्पतिरुवाच । नमो हराय देवाय महामाया त्रिशूलिने ।
br̥haspatiruvāca
Salutations to the Lord Shiva, the great deity of illusion, who wields the trident.
तापसाय महेशाय तत्त्वज्ञानप्रदायिने ॥ १ ॥
namō harāya dēvāya mahāmāyā triśūlinē
Salutations to the ascetic, the great Lord, who bestows knowledge of the ultimate truth.
नमो मौञ्जाय शुद्धाय नमः कारुण्यमूर्तये ।
tāpasāya mahēśāya tattvajñānapradāyinē
Salutations to the pure one, the embodiment of compassion, and to the supreme deity of deities.
नमो देवाधिदेवाय नमो वेदान्तदायिने ॥ २ ॥
namō mauñjāya śuddhāya namaḥ kāruṇyamūrtayē
Salutations to the giver of Vedanta, to the supreme Rudra, and repeated salutations to you.
नमः पराय रुद्राय सुपाराय नमो नमः ।
namō dēvādhidēvāya namō vēdāntadāyinē
Salutations to the universal form of the great Lord, the sustainer of all.
विश्वमूर्ते महेशाय विश्वाधाराय ते नमः ॥ ३ ॥
namaḥ parāya rudrāya supārāya namō namaḥ
Salutations to the one who removes the bondage of devotees, the essence of the soul.
नमो भक्तभवच्छेदकारणायाऽमलात्मने ।
viśvamūrtē mahēśāya viśvādhārāya tē namaḥ
Salutations to the time itself, to the eternal, and to the one who transcends time.
कालकालाय कालाय कालातीताय ते नमः ॥ ४ ॥
namō bhaktabhavacchēdakāraṇāyā:'malātmanē
Salutations to the conqueror of the senses, the eternal one, and to the one who has conquered anger.
जितेन्द्रियाय नित्याय जितक्रोधाय ते नमः ।
kālakālāya kālāya kālātītāya tē namaḥ
Salutations to the destroyer of heretics, and to the one who removes sins.
नमः पाषण्डभङ्गाय नमः पापहराय ते ॥ ५ ॥
jitēndriyāya nityāya jitakrōdhāya tē namaḥ
Salutations to the king of mountains and to the daughter of the mountain.
नमः पर्वतराजेन्द्रकन्यकापतये नमः ।
namaḥ pāṣaṇḍabhaṅgāya namaḥ pāpaharāya tē
Salutations to the bliss of yoga, to the essence of yoga, and to the lord of yogis.
योगानन्दाय योगाय योगिनां पतये नमः ॥ ६ ॥
namaḥ parvatarājēndrakanyakāpatayē namaḥ
Salutations to the protector of life in the practice of pranayama, the ultimate breath.
प्राणायामपराणां तु प्राणरक्षाय ते नमः ।
yōgānandāya yōgāya yōgināṁ patayē namaḥ
Salutations to the one who has entered the root chakra, the essence of the root light.
मूलाधारे प्रविष्टाय मूलदीपात्मने नमः ॥ ७ ॥
prāṇāyāmaparāṇāṁ tu prāṇarakṣāya tē namaḥ
Salutations to the one who resides in the heart, who has entered through the navel.
नाभिकन्दे प्रविष्टाय नमो हृद्देशवर्तिने ।
mūlādhārē praviṣṭāya mūladīpātmanē namaḥ
Salutations to the one who is the embodiment of truth, consciousness, and bliss, the supreme self.
सच्चिदानन्दपूर्णाय नमः साक्षात्परात्मने ॥ ८ ॥
nābhikandē praviṣṭāya namō hr̥ddēśavartinē
Salutations to Shiva, the one of wondrous valor.
नमः शिवायाद्भुतविक्रमाय ते
saccidānandapūrṇāya namaḥ sākṣātparātmanē
Salutations to Shiva, the one of wondrous form.
नमः शिवायाद्भुतविग्रहाय ते । नमः शिवायाखिलनायकाय ते
namaḥ śivāyādbhutavikramāya tē namaḥ śivāyādbhutavigrahāya tē
Salutations to Shiva, the leader of all.
नमः शिवायामृतहेतवे नमः ॥ ९ ॥
namaḥ śivāyākhilanāyakāya tē namaḥ śivāyāmr̥tahētavē namaḥ
Salutations to Shiva, the cause of immortality.
सूत उवाच ।
sūta uvāca
Suta said:
य इदं पठते नित्यं स्तोत्रं भक्त्या सुसम्युतः । तस्य मुक्तिः करस्था स्याच्छङ्करप्रियकारणात् ॥ १० ॥
ya idaṁ paṭhatē nityaṁ stōtraṁ bhaktyā susamyutaḥ
Whoever recites this hymn daily with devotion will attain liberation due to the grace of Shankara.
विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां विवाहार्थी गृही भवेत् । वैराग्यकामो लभते वैराग्यं भवतारकम् ॥ ११ ॥
tasya muktiḥ karasthā syācchaṅkarapriyakāraṇāt
The student will gain knowledge, the one seeking marriage will find a home.
तस्माद्दिने दिने यूयमिदं स्तोत्रं समाहिताः । पठन्तु भवनाशार्थमिदं वो भवनाशनम् ॥ १२ ॥
vidyārthī labhatē vidyāṁ vivāhārthī gr̥hī bhavēt
The one desiring renunciation will attain detachment, which is the savior.
इति श्रीस्कान्दे महापुराणे सूतसंहितायां बृहस्पतिकृत शिव नवरत्न स्तवः ॥
vairāgyakāmō labhatē vairāgyaṁ bhavatārakam
Therefore, every day, you all should recite this hymn with concentration for the welfare of your homes.
Sri Shiva Pratipadana Stotram – श्री शिव प्रतिपादन स्तोत्रम्
tasmāddinē dinē yūyamidaṁ stōtraṁ samāhitāḥ
This is for the destruction of your sorrows.
Sri Gangadhara Stotram – श्री गङ्गाधर स्तोत्रम्
paṭhantu bhavanāśārthamidaṁ vō bhavanāśanam
Thus, in the Skanda Mahapurana, in the Suta Samhita, the Shiva Navaratna Stotra composed by Brihaspati is found.
