Sri Shiva Stuti
The stotra expresses reverence to Lord Shiva, invoking his blessings for peace and guidance.
स्फुटं स्फटिकसप्रभं स्फुटितहारकश्रीजटं
sphuṭaṁ sphaṭikasaprabhaṁ sphuṭitahārakaśrījaṭaṁ śaśāṅkadalaśēkharaṁ kapilaphullanētratrayam
The treasure of hymns, O Lord Shiva, is the praise of Lord Shiva.
शशाङ्कदलशेखरं कपिलफुल्लनेत्रत्रयम् ।
tarakṣuvarakr̥ttimadbhujagabhūṣaṇaṁ bhūtima- tkadā nu śitikaṇṭha tē vapuravēkṣatē vīkṣaṇam
Clearly shining like a crystal, adorned with the brilliance of the sun.
तरक्षुवरकृत्तिमद्भुजगभूषणं भूतिम-
trilōcana vilōcanē lasati tē lalāmāyitē smarō niyamaghasmarō niyamināmabhūdbhasmasāt
With a moon-like crown, possessing three eyes like the flower of a kapila.
त्कदा नु शितिकण्ठ ते वपुरवेक्षते वीक्षणम् ॥ १ ॥
svabhaktilatayā vaśīkr̥tapatī satīyaṁ satī svabhaktavaśatō bhavānapi vaśī prasīda prabhō
O serpent adorned with the beauty of the stars, when will your form be seen?
त्रिलोचन विलोचने लसति ते ललामायिते
mahēśa mahitō:'si tatpuruṣa pūruṣāgryō bhavā- naghōraripughōra tē:'navama vāmadēvāñjaliḥ
O three-eyed one, your gaze shines brightly on your forehead.
स्मरो नियमघस्मरो नियमिनामभूद्भस्मसात् ।
namassapadi jāta tē tvamiti pañcarūpōcita- prapañcacayapañcavr̥nmama manastamastāḍaya
O Lord of Love, the one who controls the desires of the world, may you grant liberation.
स्वभक्तिलतया वशीकृतपती सतीयं सती
rasāghanarasānalānilaviyadvivasvadvidhu- prayaṣṭr̥ṣu niviṣṭamityaja bhajāmi mūrtyaṣṭakam
By the power of devotion, you are indeed the master of the faithful.
स्वभक्तवशतो भवानपि वशी प्रसीद प्रभो ॥ २ ॥
praśāntamuta bhīṣaṇaṁ bhuvanamōhanaṁ cētyahō vapūṁṣi guṇabhūṣitēhamahamātmanō:'haṁ bhidē
O Lord, you too are under the influence of your devotees; please be gracious.
महेश महितोऽसि तत्पुरुष पूरुषाग्र्यो भवा-
vimuktiparamādhvanāṁ tava ṣaḍadhvanāmāspadaṁ padaṁ nigamavēdinō jagati vāmadēvādayaḥ
O Great Lord, you are the supreme being, the foremost among men.
नघोररिपुघोर तेऽनवम वामदेवाञ्जलिः ।
kathañcidupaśikṣitā bhagavataiva saṁvidratē vayaṁ tu viralāntarāḥ kathamumēśa tanmanmahē
To you, the fierce enemy of the terrible, I bow down with devotion.
नमस्सपदि जात ते त्वमिति पञ्चरूपोचित-
kaṭhōritakuṭhārayā lalitaśūlayā vāhayā raṇaḍḍamaruṇā sphuraddhariṇayā sakhaṭvāṅgayā
I offer my salutations to you, who embody the five forms of existence.
प्रपञ्चचयपञ्चवृन्मम मनस्तमस्ताडय ॥ ३ ॥
calābhiracalābhirapyagaṇitābhirunmr̥tyata- ścaturdaśa jaganti tē jayajayētyayurvismayam
May my mind be filled with the essence of your divine presence.
रसाघनरसानलानिलवियद्विवस्वद्विधु-
purā tripurarandhanaṁ vividhadaityavidhvaṁsanaṁ parākramaparamparā api parā na tē vismayaḥ
I worship the eight forms of your divine manifestation, which are filled with bliss.
प्रयष्टृषु निविष्टमित्यज भजामि मूर्त्यष्टकम् ।
amarṣibalaharṣitakṣubhitavr̥ttanētrōjjvala- jjvalajjvalanahēlayā śalabhitaṁ hi lōkatrayam
You are the calm and the terrifying, the enchantment of the worlds.
प्रशान्तमुत भीषणं भुवनमोहनं चेत्यहो
sahasranayanō guhassahasahasraraśmirvidhuḥ br̥haspatirutāppatissasurasiddhavidyādharāḥ
I am the one adorned with virtues, I am indeed the great soul.
वपूंषि गुणभूषितेहमहमात्मनोऽहं भिदे ॥ ४ ॥
bhavatpadaparāyaṇāśśriyamimāṁ yayuḥ prārthitāṁ bhavān suratarurbhr̥śaṁ śiva śivāṁ śivāvallabhām
In the path of liberation, you are the abode of the six paths.
विमुक्तिपरमाध्वनां तव षडध्वनामास्पदं
tava priyatamādatipriyatamaṁ sadaivāntaraṁ payasyupahitaṁ ghr̥taṁ svayamiva śriyō vallabham
The words of the scriptures reveal the essence of the world, O Lord of the Vāmadeva.
पदं निगमवेदिनो जगति वामदेवादयः ।
vibuddhya laghubuddhayassvaparapakṣalakṣyāyitaṁ paṭhanti hi luṭhanti tē śaṭhahr̥daśśucā śuṇṭhitāḥ
Somehow, the divine knowledge is imparted by the Lord himself.
कथञ्चिदुपशिक्षिता भगवतैव संविद्रते
nivāsanilayācitā tava śirastatirmālikā kapālamapi tē karē tvamaśivō:'syanantardhiyām
But we, who are rare and distant, how can we understand this great mystery?
वयं तु विरलान्तराः कथमुमेश तन्मन्महे ॥ ५ ॥
tathāpi bhavataḥ padaṁ śivaśivētyadō jalpatā- makiñcana na kiñcana vr̥jinamasti bhasmī bhavēt
With a hard and sharp weapon, or with a gentle trident, you wield power.
कठोरितकुठारया ललितशूलया वाहया
tvamēva kila kāmadhuksakalakāmamāpūrayan sadā trinayanō bhavānvahasi cātrinētrōdbhavam
The sound of the drums resonates, and the fierce warriors shine brightly.
रणड्डमरुणा स्फुरद्धरिणया सखट्वाङ्गया ।
viṣaṁ viṣadharāndadhatpibasi tēna cānandavā- nniruddhacaritōcitā jagadadhīśa tē bhikṣutā
Even the unyielding ones are counted among the countless who are not subject to death.
चलाभिरचलाभिरप्यगणिताभिरुन्मृत्यत-
namaḥ śivaśivā śivāśiva śivārtha kr̥ntāśivaṁ namō haraharā harāhara harāntarīṁ mē dr̥śam
O Lord, you are the victor in all fourteen worlds, may you grant us long life and wonder.
श्चतुर्दश जगन्ति ते जयजयेत्ययुर्विस्मयम् ॥ ६ ॥
namō bhavabhavā bhavaprabhavabhūtayē mē bhavā- nnamō mr̥ḍa namō namō nama umēśa tubhyaṁ namaḥ
In the past, you destroyed the Tripura, vanquishing various demons.
पुरा त्रिपुररन्धनं विविधदैत्यविध्वंसनं
satāṁ śravaṇapaddhatiṁ saratu sannatōktētyasau śivasya karuṇāṅkurātpratikr̥tātmadā sōcitā
Your lineage of valor is indeed beyond comprehension.
पराक्रमपरम्परा अपि परा न ते विस्मयः ।
iti prathitamānasō vyathita nāma nārāyaṇaḥ śivastutimimāṁ śivāṁ likucisūrisūnussudhīḥ
With the strength of the immortal, you shine brightly, stirring the hearts of the world.
अमर्षिबलहर्षितक्षुभितवृत्तनेत्रोज्ज्वल-
iti śrīlikucisūrisūnu nārāyaṇācāryaviracitā śrī śivastutiḥ
With a thousand eyes, O Lord of the cave, you are the moon with a thousand rays.
