Sri Subrahmanya Bhujanga Prayata Stotram 2
The Sri Subrahmanya Bhujanga Prayata Stotram is a devotional hymn that praises Lord Murugan and seeks his protection and blessings.
श्री सुब्रह्मण्य स्तोत्राणि
gaṇēśaṁ namaskr̥tya gaurīkumāraṁ gajāsyaṁ guhasyāgrajātaṁ gabhīram
Saluting Ganesha, the son of Gauri,
गणेशं नमस्कृत्य गौरीकुमारं
pralambōdaraṁ śūrpakarṇaṁ triṇētraṁ pravakṣyē bhujaṅgaprayātaṁ guhasya
The one with the elephant face, born of Guha,
गजास्यं गुहस्याग्रजातं गभीरम् । प्रलम्बोदरं शूर्पकर्णं त्रिणेत्रं
pr̥thakṣaṭkirīṭa sphuraddivyaratna- -prabhākṣiptamārtāṇḍakōṭiprakāśam
With a long belly, ears like winnowing baskets, three-eyed,
प्रवक्ष्ये भुजङ्गप्रयातं गुहस्य ॥ १ ॥
calatkuṇḍalōdyatsugaṇḍasthalāntaṁ mahānarghahārōjjvalatkambukaṇṭham
I will recite the Bhujanga Prayata Stotra of Guha.
पृथक्षट्किरीट स्फुरद्दिव्यरत्न-
śaratpūrṇacandraprabhācāruvaktraṁ virājallalāṭaṁ kr̥pāpūrṇanētram
With a crown that shines with divine jewels,
-प्रभाक्षिप्तमार्ताण्डकोटिप्रकाशम् । चलत्कुण्डलोद्यत्सुगण्डस्थलान्तं
lasadbhrūsunāsāpuṭaṁ vidrumōṣṭhaṁ sudantāvaliṁ susmitaṁ prēmapūrṇam
Illuminating the countless suns,
महानर्घहारोज्ज्वलत्कम्बुकण्ठम् ॥ २ ॥
dviṣaḍbāhudaṇḍāgradēdīpyamānaṁ kvaṇatkaṅkaṇālaṅkr̥tōdārahastam
With moving earrings and a beautiful neck,
शरत्पूर्णचन्द्रप्रभाचारुवक्त्रं
lasanmudrikāratnarājatkarāgraṁ kvaṇatkiṅkiṇīramyakāñcīkalāpam
The one with a face as lovely as the full moon in autumn.
विराजल्ललाटं कृपापूर्णनेत्रम् । लसद्भ्रूसुनासापुटं विद्रुमोष्ठं
viśālōdaraṁ visphuratpūrṇakukṣiṁ kaṭau svarṇasūtraṁ taṭidvarṇagātram
Radiant with a shining forehead, filled with compassion,
सुदन्तावलिं सुस्मितं प्रेमपूर्णम् ॥ ३ ॥
sulāvaṇyanābhīsarastīrarāja- -tsuśaivālarōmāvalīrōcamānam
With beautiful eyebrows, a nose like a red lotus,
द्विषड्बाहुदण्डाग्रदेदीप्यमानं
sukallōlavīcīvalīrōcamānaṁ lasanmadhyasusnigdhavāsō vasānam
With a charming smile full of love,
क्वणत्कङ्कणालङ्कृतोदारहस्तम् । लसन्मुद्रिकारत्नराजत्कराग्रं
sphuraccārudivyōrujaṅghāsugulphaṁ vikasvatpadābjaṁ nakhēnduprabhāḍhyam
Shining with arms like the trunks of elephants, glowing brightly.
क्वणत्किङ्किणीरम्यकाञ्चीकलापम् ॥ ४ ॥
dviṣaṭpaṅkajākṣaṁ mahāśaktiyuktaṁ trilōkapraśastaṁ suśikkē purastham
With a hand adorned with jingling anklets,
विशालोदरं विस्फुरत्पूर्णकुक्षिं
prapannārtināśaṁ prasannaṁ phaṇīśaṁ parabrahmarūpaṁ prakāśaṁ parēśam
Holding a beautiful bell in the other,
कटौ स्वर्णसूत्रं तटिद्वर्णगात्रम् । सुलावण्यनाभीसरस्तीरराज-
kumāraṁ varēṇyaṁ śaraṇyaṁ supuṇyaṁ sulāvaṇyapaṇyaṁ surēśānuvarṇyam
With a broad belly and a full, radiant body,
-त्सुशैवालरोमावलीरोचमानम् ॥ ५ ॥
lasatpūrṇakāruṇyalakṣmīśagaṇyaṁ sukāruṇyamāryāgragaṇyaṁ namāmi
Wearing a golden thread around the waist,
सुकल्लोलवीचीवलीरोचमानं
sphuradratnapīṭhōpari bhrājamānaṁ hr̥dambhōjamadhyē mahāsannidhānam
With a body that shines like lightning.
लसन्मध्यसुस्निग्धवासो वसानम् । स्फुरच्चारुदिव्योरुजङ्घासुगुल्फं
samāvr̥ttajānuprabhāśōbhamānaṁ suraiḥ sēvyamānaṁ bhajē barhiyānam
With a lovely navel, resembling a shore,
विकस्वत्पदाब्जं नखेन्दुप्रभाढ्यम् ॥ ६ ॥
jvalaccārucāmīkarādarśapūrṇaṁ calaccāmaracchatracitradhvajāḍhyam
With a beautiful, flowing mane,
द्विषट्पङ्कजाक्षं महाशक्तियुक्तं
suvarṇāmalāndōlikāmadhyasaṁsthaṁ mahāhīndrarūpaṁ bhajē supratāpam
With a middle that is soft and fragrant,
त्रिलोकप्रशस्तं सुशिक्के पुरस्थम् । प्रपन्नार्तिनाशं प्रसन्नं फणीशं
dhanurbāṇacakrābhayaṁ vajrakhēṭaṁ triśūlāsipāśāṅkuśābhītiśaṅkham
With legs that are graceful and divine,
परब्रह्मरूपं प्रकाशं परेशम् ॥ ७ ॥
jvalatkukkuṭaṁ prōllasaddvādaśākṣaṁ praśastāyudhaṁ ṣaṇmukhaṁ taṁ bhajē:'ham
With feet like lotus flowers, shining like the moon.
कुमारं वरेण्यं शरण्यं सुपुण्यं
sphuraccārugaṇḍaṁ dviṣaḍbāhudaṇḍaṁ śritāmartyaṣaṇḍaṁ susampatkaraṇḍam
With eyes like lotus petals, endowed with great power,
सुलावण्यपण्यं सुरेशानुवर्ण्यम् । लसत्पूर्णकारुण्यलक्ष्मीशगण्यं
dviṣadvaṁśakhaṇḍaṁ sadā dānaśauṇḍaṁ bhavaprēmapiṇḍaṁ bhajē supracaṇḍam
Praised by the three worlds, standing before me,
सुकारुण्यमार्याग्रगण्यं नमामि ॥ ८ ॥
sadā dīnapakṣaṁ suradviḍvipakṣaṁ sumr̥ṣṭānnabhakṣyapradānaikadakṣam
The remover of the sufferings of the surrendered,
स्फुरद्रत्नपीठोपरि भ्राजमानं
śritāmartyavr̥kṣaṁ mahādaityaśikṣaṁ bahukṣīṇapakṣaṁ bhajē dvādaśākṣam
The blissful one, the Lord of serpents,
हृदम्भोजमध्ये महासन्निधानम् । समावृत्तजानुप्रभाशोभमानं
trimūrtisvarūpaṁ trayīsatkalāpaṁ trilōkādhināthaṁ triṇētrātmajātam
The embodiment of the supreme Brahman, the radiant Lord.
सुरैः सेव्यमानं भजे बर्हियानम् ॥ ९ ॥
triśaktyā prayuktaṁ supuṇyapraśastaṁ trikālajñamiṣṭārthadaṁ taṁ bhajē:'ham
The son who is most worthy, a refuge, and pure,
ज्वलच्चारुचामीकरादर्शपूर्णं
virājadbhujaṅgaṁ viśālōttamāṅgaṁ viśuddhātmasaṅgaṁ vivr̥ddhaprasaṅgam
The one who is beautiful and worthy of praise by the gods.
चलच्चामरच्छत्रचित्रध्वजाढ्यम् । सुवर्णामलान्दोलिकामध्यसंस्थं
vicintyaṁ śubhāṅgaṁ vikr̥ttāsurāṅgaṁ bhavavyādhibhaṅgaṁ bhajē kukkaliṅgam
I bow to the radiant, full of compassion, and the revered assembly of Lakshmi.
महाहीन्द्ररूपं भजे सुप्रतापम् ॥ १० ॥
guha skanda gāṅgēya gaurīsutēśa- -priya krauñcabhittārakārē surēśa
I worship the noble one, shining with the brilliance of jewels atop a gem-studded pedestal.
धनुर्बाणचक्राभयं वज्रखेटं
mayūrāsanāśēṣadōṣapraṇāśa prasīda prasīda prabhō citprakāśa
In the heart's lotus, there resides the great presence, shining forth.
त्रिशूलासिपाशाङ्कुशाभीतिशङ्खम् । ज्वलत्कुक्कुटं प्रोल्लसद्द्वादशाक्षं
lapan dēvasēnēśa bhūtēśa śēṣa- -svarūpāgnibhūḥ kārtikēyānnadātaḥ
I worship the one who is adorned with the glow of the radiant knee, surrounded by divine beings.
प्रशस्तायुधं षण्मुखं तं भजेऽहम् ॥ ११ ॥
yadētthaṁ smariṣyāmi bhaktyā bhavantaṁ tadā mē ṣaḍāsya prasīda prasīda
I worship the one who is resplendent like a blazing, beautiful, golden umbrella, adorned with colorful flags.
स्फुरच्चारुगण्डं द्विषड्बाहुदण्डं
bhujē śauryadhairyaṁ karē dānadharmaḥ kaṭākṣē:'tiśāntiḥ ṣaḍāsyēṣu hāsyam
I worship the great form of the king of serpents, who is seated in the midst of a golden garland.
श्रितामर्त्यषण्डं सुसम्पत्करण्डम् । द्विषद्वंशखण्डं सदा दानशौण्डं
hr̥dabjē dayā yasya taṁ dēvamanyaṁ kumārānna jānē na jānē na jānē
I worship the one who is armed with a bow, arrows, and a wheel, who is fearsome like a thunderbolt.
भवप्रेमपिण्डं भजे सुप्रचण्डम् ॥ १२ ॥
mahīnirjarēśānmahānr̥tyatōṣāt vihaṅgādhirūḍhādbilāntarvigūḍhāt
With a trident, sword, noose, and a fearsome conch, I worship the one who is blazing like a rooster with twelve eyes.
सदा दीनपक्षं सुरद्विड्विपक्षं
mahēśātmajātānmahābhōgināthā- -dguhāddaivamanyanna manyē na manyē
I worship the one with splendid weapons, the six-faced one.
सुमृष्टान्नभक्ष्यप्रदानैकदक्षम् । श्रितामर्त्यवृक्षं महादैत्यशिक्षं
surōttuṅgaśr̥ṅgārasaṅgītapūrṇa- -prasaṅgapriyāsaṅgasammōhanāṅga
I worship the one who has a shining, beautiful neck, with six arms, who is a source of great fortune.
बहुक्षीणपक्षं भजे द्वादशाक्षम् ॥ १३ ॥
bhujaṅgēśa bhūtēśa bhr̥ṅgēśa tubhyaṁ namaḥ kukkaliṅgāya tasmai namastē
I worship the one who is always generous, who destroys the lineage of enemies, and is filled with the essence of love.
त्रिमूर्तिस्वरूपं त्रयीसत्कलापं
namaḥ kālakaṇṭhaprarūḍhāya tasmai namō nīlakaṇṭhādhirūḍhāya tasmai
I worship the one who is always compassionate to the distressed and is the enemy of the celestial beings.
त्रिलोकाधिनाथं त्रिणेत्रात्मजातम् । त्रिशक्त्या प्रयुक्तं सुपुण्यप्रशस्तं
namaḥ prōllasaccārucūḍāya tasmai namō divyarūpāya śāntāya tasmai
I worship the one who provides food that is pure and nourishing to the hungry.
त्रिकालज्ञमिष्टार्थदं तं भजेऽहम् ॥ १४ ॥
namastē namaḥ pārvatīnandanāya sphuraccitrabarhīkr̥tasyandanāya
I worship the one who is the tree for the mortal beings, who is the teacher of the great demons.
विराजद्भुजङ्गं विशालोत्तमाङ्गं
namaścarcitāṅgōjjvalaccandanāya pravicchēditaprāṇabhr̥dbandhanāya
I worship the one who has many diminished wings, the one with twelve eyes.
विशुद्धात्मसङ्गं विवृद्धप्रसङ्गम् । विचिन्त्यं शुभाङ्गं विकृत्तासुराङ्गं
namastē namastē jagatpāvanātta- -svarūpāya tasmai jagajjīvanāya
I worship the one who embodies the three forms, the one who is the lord of the three worlds, born of the three-eyed one.
भवव्याधिभङ्गं भजे कुक्कलिङ्गम् ॥ १५ ॥
namastē namastē jagadvanditāya hyarūpāya tasmai jaganmōhanāya
I worship the one who is endowed with three powers, who is supremely virtuous and praised.
गुह स्कन्द गाङ्गेय गौरीसुतेश-
namastē namastē namaḥ krauñcabhēttrē namastē namastē namō viśvakartrē
I worship the one who knows the three times and grants the desired fruits.
-प्रिय क्रौञ्चभित्तारकारे सुरेश । मयूरासनाशेषदोषप्रणाश
namastē namastē namō viśvagōptrē namastē namastē namō viśvahantrē
I worship the one who shines like a radiant serpent, who has a vast and excellent body.
प्रसीद प्रसीद प्रभो चित्प्रकाश ॥ १६ ॥
namastē namastē namō viśvabhartrē namastē namastē namō viśvadhātrē
I worship the one who is pure, united with the supreme self, and is engaged in profound discussions.
लपन् देवसेनेश भूतेश शेष-
namastē namastē namō viśvanētrē namastē namastē namō viśvaśāstrē
I worship the one who is contemplated upon, who has auspicious limbs, and who is the distorted form of the demons.
-स्वरूपाग्निभूः कार्तिकेयान्नदातः । यदेत्थं स्मरिष्यामि भक्त्या भवन्तं
namastē namaḥ śēṣarūpāya tubhyaṁ namastē namō divyacāpāya tubhyam
I worship the one who destroys the diseases of existence, the one who is the great divine being.
तदा मे षडास्य प्रसीद प्रसीद ॥ १७ ॥
namastē namaḥ satpratāpāya tubhyaṁ namastē namaḥ satkalāpāya tubhyam
O Lord of Guha, son of Ganga, beloved of Gauri,
भुजे शौर्यधैर्यं करे दानधर्मः
namastē namaḥ satkirīṭāya tubhyaṁ namastē namaḥ svarṇapīṭhāya tubhyam
O Lord of the gods, destroyer of the Krauñca mountain,
कटाक्षेऽतिशान्तिः षडास्येषु हास्यम् । हृदब्जे दया यस्य तं देवमन्यं
namastē namaḥ sallalāṭāya tubhyaṁ namastē namō divyarūpāya tubhyam
Seated on the peacock, remover of all faults,
कुमारान्न जाने न जाने न जाने ॥ १८ ॥
namastē namō lōkarakṣāya tubhyaṁ namastē namō dīnarakṣāya tubhyam
Please be gracious, please be gracious, O Lord, light of consciousness.
महीनिर्जरेशान्महानृत्यतोषात्
namastē namō daityaśikṣāya tubhyaṁ namastē namō dvādaśākṣāya tubhyam
I speak to you, O Lord of the divine army, O Lord of the elements,
विहङ्गाधिरूढाद्बिलान्तर्विगूढात् । महेशात्मजातान्महाभोगिनाथा-
bhujaṅgākr̥tē tvatpriyārthaṁ mayēdaṁ bhujaṅgaprayātēna vr̥ttēna klaptam
You who are the embodiment of the fire of the Shesha,
-द्गुहाद्दैवमन्यन्न मन्ये न मन्ये ॥ १९ ॥
tava stōtramētatpavitraṁ supuṇyaṁ parānandasandōhasaṁvardhanāya
When I remember you with devotion,
सुरोत्तुङ्गशृङ्गारसङ्गीतपूर्ण-
tvadanyatparaṁ daivataṁ nābhijānē prabhō pāhi sampūrṇadr̥ṣṭyānugr̥hya
Then may you be gracious to me, please be gracious.
-प्रसङ्गप्रियासङ्गसम्मोहनाङ्ग । भुजङ्गेश भूतेश भृङ्गेश तुभ्यं
yathāśakti bhaktyā kr̥taṁ stōtramēkaṁ vibhō mē:'parādhaṁ kṣamasvākhilēśa
In my arms, may there be valor and courage,
नमः कुक्कलिङ्गाय तस्मै नमस्ते ॥ २० ॥
idaṁ tārakārērguṇastōtrarājaṁ paṭhantastrikālaṁ prapannā janā yē
May there be charity and righteousness,
नमः कालकण्ठप्ररूढाय तस्मै
suputrāṣṭabhōgāniha tvēva bhuktvā labhantē tadantē paraṁ svargabhōgam
With your glances, may there be peace, and in the six faces, may there be joy.
नमो नीलकण्ठाधिरूढाय तस्मै । नमः प्रोल्लसच्चारुचूडाय तस्मै
iti śrī subrahmaṇya bhujaṅga prayāta stōtram
The one whose heart is filled with compassion, I do not know of any other deity.
