अस्य श्रीसुब्रह्मण्यकवचस्तोत्रमहामन्त्रस्य, ब्रह्मा ऋषिः, अनुष्टुप्छन्दः, श्रीसुब्रह्मण्यो देवता, ओं नम इति बीजं, भगवत इति शक्तिः, सुब्रह्मण्यायेति कीलकं, श्रीसुब्रह्मण्य प्रसादसिद्ध्यर्थे जपे विनियोगः ॥
karanyāsaḥ – ōṁ sāṁ aṅguṣṭhābhyāṁ namaḥ
This great mantra of the protective hymn of Lord Subrahmanya is composed by the sage Brahma, in the Anushtubh meter, with Lord Subrahmanya as the deity, "Om Namah" as the seed, "Bhagavata" as the power, "Subrahmanyaya" as the key, and is to be chanted for the attainment of Lord Subrahmanya's grace.
करन्यासः –
ōṁ sīṁ tarjanībhyāṁ namaḥ
Hand placement (Karanyasa) –
ओं सां अङ्गुष्ठाभ्यां नमः ।
ōṁ sūṁ madhyamābhyāṁ namaḥ
Om Saṁ, I bow with my thumbs.
ओं सीं तर्जनीभ्यां नमः । ओं सूं मध्यमाभ्यां नमः ।
ōṁ saiṁ anāmikābhyāṁ namaḥ
Om Siṁ, I bow with my index fingers.
ओं सैं अनामिकाभ्यां नमः । ओं सौं कनिष्ठिकाभ्यां नमः ।
ōṁ sauṁ kaniṣṭhikābhyāṁ namaḥ
Om Sūṁ, I bow with my middle fingers.
ओं सः करतलकरपृष्ठाभ्यां नमः ॥
ōṁ saḥ karatalakarapr̥ṣṭhābhyāṁ namaḥ
Om Saiṁ, I bow with my ring fingers.
अङ्गन्यासः –
aṅganyāsaḥ – ōṁ sāṁ hr̥dayāya namaḥ
Om Sauṁ, I bow with my little fingers.
ओं सां हृदयाय नमः । ओं सीं शिरसे स्वाहा ।
ōṁ sīṁ śirasē svāhā
Om Saḥ, I bow with the palms of my hands.
ओं सूं शिखायै वषट् । ओं सैं कवचाय हुम् ।
ōṁ sūṁ śikhāyai vaṣaṭ

ओं सौं नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् । ओं सः अस्त्राय फट् ।
ōṁ saiṁ kavacāya hum
Om Saṁ, I bow with my heart.
भूर्भुवस्सुवरोमिति दिग्बन्धः ॥
ōṁ sauṁ nētratrayāya vauṣaṭ
Om Siṁ, I offer my head, Svaha.
ध्यानम् ।
ōṁ saḥ astrāya phaṭ
Om Sūṁ, I offer my crown, Vaṣaṭ.
सिन्दूरारुणमिन्दुकान्तिवदनं केयूरहारादिभिः
bhūrbhuvassuvarōmiti digbandhaḥ
Om Saiṁ, I offer my armor, Hum.
दिव्यैराभरणैर्विभूषिततनुं स्वर्गादिसौख्यप्रदम् ।

Om Sauṁ, I offer my three eyes, Vauṣaṭ.
अम्भोजाभयशक्तिकुक्कुटधरं रक्ताङ्गरागोज्ज्वलं
sindūrāruṇamindukāntivadanaṁ kēyūrahārādibhiḥ divyairābharaṇairvibhūṣitatanuṁ svargādisaukhyapradam
Om Saḥ, I offer my weapon, Phaṭ.
सुब्रह्मण्यमुपास्महे प्रणमतां भीतिप्रणाशोद्यतम् ॥
ambhōjābhayaśaktikukkuṭadharaṁ raktāṅgarāgōjjvalaṁ subrahmaṇyamupāsmahē praṇamatāṁ bhītipraṇāśōdyatam
"Earth, Atmosphere, Heaven" is the boundary of directions.
लमित्यादि पञ्चपूजा । ओं लं पृथिव्यात्मने सुब्रह्मण्याय गन्धं समर्पयामि ।

Meditation.
ओं हं आकाशात्मने सुब्रह्मण्याय पुष्पाणि समर्पयामि । ओं यं वाय्वात्मने सुब्रह्मण्याय धूपमाघ्रापयामि ।
ōṁ laṁ pr̥thivyātmanē subrahmaṇyāya gandhaṁ samarpayāmi
The face like the moon, red as vermilion, adorned with garlands and other ornaments,
ओं रं अग्न्यात्मने सुब्रह्मण्याय दीपं दर्शयामि । ओं वं अमृतात्मने सुब्रह्मण्याय स्वादन्नं निवेदयामि ।
ōṁ haṁ ākāśātmanē subrahmaṇyāya puṣpāṇi samarpayāmi
The divine body, embellished with celestial ornaments, grants happiness of heaven and beyond.
कवचम् । सुब्रह्मण्योऽग्रतः पातु सेनानीः पातु पृष्ठतः ।
ōṁ yaṁ vāyvātmanē subrahmaṇyāya dhūpamāghrāpayāmi
The one who holds the rooster, with a body shining like red lotus,
गुहो मां दक्षिणे पातु वह्निजः पातु वामतः ॥ १ ॥
ōṁ raṁ agnyātmanē subrahmaṇyāya dīpaṁ darśayāmi
We worship Subrahmanya, who dispels fear and grants refuge.
शिरः पातु महासेनः स्कन्दो रक्षेल्ललाटकम् ।
ōṁ vaṁ amr̥tātmanē subrahmaṇyāya svādannaṁ nivēdayāmi
Offering of fivefold worship:
नेत्रे मे द्वादशाक्षश्च श्रोत्रे रक्षतु विश्वभृत् ॥ २ ॥

Om, I offer fragrance to Subrahmanya, the essence of the Earth.
मुखं मे षण्मुखः पातु नासिकां शङ्करात्मजः ।
subrahmaṇyō:'grataḥ pātu sēnānīḥ pātu pr̥ṣṭhataḥ
Om, I offer flowers to Subrahmanya, the essence of the Sky.
ओष्ठौ वल्लीपतिः पातु जिह्वां पातु षडाननः ॥ ३ ॥
guhō māṁ dakṣiṇē pātu vahnijaḥ pātu vāmataḥ
Om, I offer incense to Subrahmanya, the essence of the Wind.
देवसेनापतिर्दन्तान् चिबुकं बहुलोद्भवः ।
śiraḥ pātu mahāsēnaḥ skandō rakṣēllalāṭakam
Om, I show a lamp to Subrahmanya, the essence of Fire.
कण्ठं तारकजित्पातु बाहू द्वादशबाहुकः ॥ ४ ॥
nētrē mē dvādaśākṣaśca śrōtrē rakṣatu viśvabhr̥t
Om, I offer delicious food to Subrahmanya, the essence of Immortality.
हस्तौ शक्तिधरः पातु वक्षः पातु शरोद्भवः ।
mukhaṁ mē ṣaṇmukhaḥ pātu nāsikāṁ śaṅkarātmajaḥ
Protection prayer:
हृदयं वह्निभूः पातु कुक्षिं पात्वम्बिकासुतः ॥ ५ ॥
ōṣṭhau vallīpatiḥ pātu jihvāṁ pātu ṣaḍānanaḥ
May Subrahmanya, the commander, protect me from the front, and from the back.
नाभिं शम्भुसुतः पातु कटिं पातु हरात्मजः ।
dēvasēnāpatirdantān cibukaṁ bahulōdbhavaḥ
May Guhā protect me from the right, and the fire-born from the left.
ऊरू पातु गजारूढो जानू मे जाह्नवीसुतः ॥ ६ ॥
kaṇṭhaṁ tārakajitpātu bāhū dvādaśabāhukaḥ
May the great commander protect my head, and my shoulders guard me.
जङ्घे विशाखो मे पातु पादौ मे शिखिवाहनः ।
hastau śaktidharaḥ pātu vakṣaḥ pātu śarōdbhavaḥ
May the twelve-eyed one protect my eyes, and the bearer of the universe guard my ears.
सर्वाण्यङ्गानि भूतेशः सर्वधातूंश्च पावकिः ॥ ७ ॥
hr̥dayaṁ vahnibhūḥ pātu kukṣiṁ pātvambikāsutaḥ
May the six-faced one protect my face, and the son of Śiva guard my nose.
सन्ध्याकाले निशीथिन्यां दिवा प्रातर्जलेऽग्निषु ।
nābhiṁ śambhusutaḥ pātu kaṭiṁ pātu harātmajaḥ
May the lord of the creepers protect my lips, and may the six-faced one guard my tongue.
दुर्गमे च महारण्ये राजद्वारे महाभये ॥ ८ ॥
ūrū pātu gajārūḍhō jānū mē jāhnavīsutaḥ
May the commander of the celestial army protect my teeth, which arise abundantly.
तुमुले रण्यमध्ये च सर्वदुष्टमृगादिषु ।
jaṅghē viśākhō mē pātu pādau mē śikhivāhanaḥ
May the one who conquers the stars protect my throat, and may the twelve-armed one protect my arms.
चोरादिसाध्वसेऽभेद्ये ज्वरादिव्याधिपीडने ॥ ९ ॥
sarvāṇyaṅgāni bhūtēśaḥ sarvadhātūṁśca pāvakiḥ
May the bearer of strength protect my hands, and may the one born from arrows protect my chest.
दुष्टग्रहादिभीतौ च दुर्निमित्तादिभीषणे ।
sandhyākālē niśīthinyāṁ divā prātarjalē:'gniṣu
May the fire-born one protect my heart, and may the son of the goddess protect my abdomen.
अस्त्रशस्त्रनिपाते च पातु मां क्रौञ्चरन्ध्रकृत् ॥ १० ॥
durgamē ca mahāraṇyē rājadvārē mahābhayē
May the son of Shiva protect my navel, and may the son of Hari protect my waist.
यः सुब्रह्मण्यकवचं इष्टसिद्धिप्रदं पठेत् ।
tumulē raṇyamadhyē ca sarvaduṣṭamr̥gādiṣu
May the one mounted on an elephant protect my thighs, and may the son of the Ganges protect my knees.
तस्य तापत्रयं नास्ति सत्यं सत्यं वदाम्यहम् ॥ ११ ॥
cōrādisādhvasē:'bhēdyē jvarādivyādhipīḍanē
May the one named Vishakha protect my calves, and may the one with the peacock vehicle protect my feet.
धर्मार्थी लभते धर्ममर्थार्थी चार्थमाप्नुयात् ।
duṣṭagrahādibhītau ca durnimittādibhīṣaṇē
May the Lord of all beings protect all my limbs, and may the fire protect all my elements.
कामार्थी लभते कामं मोक्षार्थी मोक्षमाप्नुयात् ॥ १२ ॥
astraśastranipātē ca pātu māṁ krauñcarandhrakr̥t
In the twilight, in the stillness of night, and in the waters of the morning, may the fire protect me.
यत्र यत्र जपेद्भक्त्या तत्र सन्निहितो गुहः ।
yaḥ subrahmaṇyakavacaṁ iṣṭasiddhipradaṁ paṭhēt
In the difficult and great forest, at the royal gate, in great fear,
पूजाप्रतिष्ठाकाले च जपकाले पठेदिदम् ॥ १३ ॥
tasya tāpatrayaṁ nāsti satyaṁ satyaṁ vadāmyaham
In the tumult of battle, amidst all wicked beasts,
तेषामेव फलावाप्तिः महापातकनाशनम् ।
dharmārthī labhatē dharmamarthārthī cārthamāpnuyāt
In the fear of thieves and other dangers, in the afflictions of fever and diseases,
यः पठेच्छृणुयाद्भक्त्या नित्यं देवस्य सन्निधौ । सर्वान्कामानिह प्राप्य सोऽन्ते स्कन्दपुरं व्रजेत् ॥ १४ ॥
kāmārthī labhatē kāmaṁ mōkṣārthī mōkṣamāpnuyāt
In the fear of evil spirits and other terrifying omens,
उत्तरन्यासः ॥
yatra yatra japēdbhaktyā tatra sannihitō guhaḥ
May I be protected from the fall of weapons and arrows, by the one who is created by the crow.
करन्यासः –
pūjāpratiṣṭhākālē ca japakālē paṭhēdidam
Whoever reads this sacred verse of Brahman, which grants the fulfillment of desires, may they be blessed.
ओं सां अङ्गुष्ठाभ्यां नमः । ओं सीं तर्जनीभ्यां नमः ।
tēṣāmēva phalāvāptiḥ mahāpātakanāśanam
There is no suffering from the threefold afflictions; I speak the truth, I speak the truth.
ओं सूं मध्यमाभ्यां नमः । ओं सैं अनामिकाभ्यां नमः ।
yaḥ paṭhēcchr̥ṇuyādbhaktyā nityaṁ dēvasya sannidhau
The seeker of righteousness attains righteousness; the seeker of wealth attains wealth.
ओं सौं कनिष्ठिकाभ्यां नमः । ओं सः करतलकरपृष्ठाभ्यां नमः ॥
sarvānkāmāniha prāpya sō:'ntē skandapuraṁ vrajēt
The seeker of desires attains desires; the seeker of liberation attains liberation.
अङ्गन्यासः –
uttaranyāsaḥ
Wherever one chants with devotion, there the cave (of the heart) is present.
ओं सां हृदयाय नमः ।
karanyāsaḥ – ōṁ sāṁ aṅguṣṭhābhyāṁ namaḥ
At the time of worship and during the chanting, this should be recited.
ओं सीं शिरसे स्वाहा । ओं सूं शिखायै वषट् ।
ōṁ sīṁ tarjanībhyāṁ namaḥ
Only they attain the fruits of their actions, who destroy great sins.
ओं सैं कवचाय हुम् । ओं सौं नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् ।
ōṁ sūṁ madhyamābhyāṁ namaḥ
Whoever reads or listens with devotion, always in the presence of the divine,
ओं सः अस्त्राय फट् । भूर्भुवस्सुवरोमिति दिग्विमोकः ॥
ōṁ saiṁ anāmikābhyāṁ namaḥ
will attain all desires and finally go to Skandapura.
