Sri Tara Ashtottara Shatanama Stotram
The stotra lists one hundred and eight names of Goddess Tara, celebrating her various forms and attributes.
दशमहाविद्या स्तोत्राणि
śrī śiva uvāca – tāriṇī taralā tanvī tārā taruṇavallarī
The goddess who saves, the delicate one, the star, the youthful vine
श्री शिव उवाच –
tārarūpā tarī śyāmā tanukṣīṇapayōdharā
In the form of a star, the dark one with slender breasts
तारिणी तरला तन्वी तारा तरुणवल्लरी । ताररूपा तरी श्यामा तनुक्षीणपयोधरा ॥ १ ॥
turīyā taruṇā tīvragamanā nīlavāhinī
The fourth one, youthful, swift in movement, the one with a blue hue
तुरीया तरुणा तीव्रगमना नीलवाहिनी । उग्रतारा जया चण्डी श्रीमदेकजटाशिरा ॥ २ ॥
ugratārā jayā caṇḍī śrīmadēkajaṭāśirā
The fierce star, victorious, the fierce goddess with a single matted hair
तरुणी शांभवी छिन्नफाला स्याद्भद्रदायिनी । उग्रा उग्रप्रभा नीला कृष्णा नीलसरस्वती ॥ ३ ॥
taruṇī śāṁbhavī chinnaphālā syādbhadradāyinī
The youthful one, the auspicious giver of blessings, the one with severed fruits
द्वितीया शोभना नित्या नवीना नित्यभीषणा । चण्डिका विजयाराध्या देवी गगनवाहिनी ॥ ४ ॥
ugrā ugraprabhā nīlā kr̥ṣṇā nīlasarasvatī
The fierce one, with a fierce radiance, the blue one, the black one, the blue Sarasvati
अट्टहासा करालास्या चरास्यादीशपूजिता । सगुणाऽसगुणाऽराध्या हरीन्द्रादिप्रपूजिता ॥ ५ ॥
dvitīyā śōbhanā nityā navīnā nityabhīṣaṇā
The second one, beautiful, eternal, new, and ever-fearsome
रक्तप्रिया च रक्ताक्षी रुधिरास्यविभूषिता । बलिप्रिया बलिरता दुर्गा बलवती बला ॥ ६ ॥
caṇḍikā vijayārādhyā dēvī gaganavāhinī
The goddess who is worshipped with victory, the one who travels through the sky
बलप्रिया बलरता बलरामप्रपूजिता । अर्धकेशेश्वरी केशा केशवा स्रग्विभूषिता ॥ ७ ॥
aṭṭahāsā karālāsyā carāsyādīśapūjitā
With a loud laugh, with a terrible mouth, worshipped by the lord of creatures
पद्ममाला च पद्माक्षी कामाख्या गिरिनन्दिनी । दक्षिणा चैव दक्षा च दक्षजा दक्षिणेरता ॥ ८ ॥
saguṇā:'saguṇā:'rādhyā harīndrādiprapūjitā
The one with qualities, worshipped by the lord of the gods
वज्रपुष्पप्रिया रक्तप्रिया कुसुमभूषिता । माहेश्वरी महादेवप्रिया पन्नगभूषिता ॥ ९ ॥
raktapriyā ca raktākṣī rudhirāsyavibhūṣitā
The beloved of blood, with red eyes, adorned with blood on her face
इडा च पिङ्गला चैव सुषुम्नाप्राणरूपिणी । गान्धारी पञ्चमी पञ्चाननादिपरिपूजिता ॥ १० ॥
balipriyā baliratā durgā balavatī balā
The beloved of sacrifice, devoted to strength, the powerful goddess, the strong one
तथ्यविद्या तथ्यरूपा तथ्यमार्गानुसारिणी । तत्त्वरूपा तत्त्वप्रिया तत्त्वज्ञानात्मिकाऽनघा ॥ ११ ॥
balapriyā balaratā balarāmaprapūjitā
The beloved of strength, devoted to strength, worshipped by Balarama
ताण्डवाचारसन्तुष्टा ताण्डवप्रियकारिणी । तालनादरता क्रूरतापिनी तरणिप्रभा ॥ १२ ॥
ardhakēśēśvarī kēśā kēśavā sragvibhūṣitā
The goddess of half the hair, the lord of hair, adorned with garlands
त्रपायुक्ता त्रपामुक्ता तर्पिता तृप्तिकारिणी । तारुण्यभावसन्तुष्टा शक्ति-र्भक्तानुरागिणी ॥ १३ ॥
padmamālā ca padmākṣī kāmākhyā girinandinī
The one with a lotus garland, the lotus-eyed one, the goddess of desire, the daughter of the mountain
शिवासक्ता शिवरतिः शिवभक्तिपरायणा । ताम्रद्युति-स्ताम्ररागा ताम्रपात्रप्रभोजिनी ॥ १४ ॥
dakṣiṇā caiva dakṣā ca dakṣajā dakṣiṇēratā
The southern one is skilled, born of the south,
बलभद्रप्रेमरता बलिभु-ग्बलिकल्पनी । रामप्रिया रामशक्ती रामरूपानुकारिणी ॥ १५ ॥
vajrapuṣpapriyā raktapriyā kusumabhūṣitā
Beloved of the thunderbolt flower, fond of red, adorned with blossoms.
इत्येतत्कथितं देवि रहस्यं परमाद्भुतं । श्रुत्वामोक्षमवाप्नोति तारादेव्याः प्रसादतः ॥ १६ ॥
māhēśvarī mahādēvapriyā pannagabhūṣitā
The great goddess, beloved of the supreme deity, adorned with serpents.
य इदं पठति स्तोत्रं तारास्तुतिरहस्यजं । सर्वसिद्धियुतो भूत्वा विहरेत् क्षिति मण्डले ॥ १७ ॥
iḍā ca piṅgalā caiva suṣumnāprāṇarūpiṇī
Ida and Pingala, the vital force in the Sushumna.
तस्यैव मन्त्रसिद्धिः स्यान्मयि भक्तिरनुत्तमा । भवत्येव महामाये सत्यं सत्यं न सम्शयः ॥ १८ ॥
gāndhārī pañcamī pañcānanādiparipūjitā
Gandhari, the fifth, worshipped by the five-faced lord.
मन्दे मङ्गलवारे च यः पठेन्निशि सम्युतः । तस्यैव मन्त्रसिद्धिस्स्याद्गाणापत्यं लभेत सः ॥ १९ ॥
tathyavidyā tathyarūpā tathyamārgānusāriṇī
True knowledge, true in form, following the path of truth.
श्रद्धयाऽश्रद्धया वाऽपि पठेत्तारा रहस्यकं । सोऽचिरेणैवकालेन जीवन्मुक्तश्शिवो भवेत् ॥ २० ॥
tattvarūpā tattvapriyā tattvajñānātmikā:'naghā
The essence of reality, dear to the truth, embodying the knowledge of truth.
सहस्रावर्तनाद्देवि पुरश्चर्याफलं लभेत् । एवं सततयुक्ता ये ध्यायन्तस्त्वामुपासते ॥ २१ ॥
tāṇḍavācārasantuṣṭā tāṇḍavapriyakāriṇī
Content in the dance of Tandava, the one who brings joy through the dance.
ते कृतार्था महेशानि मृत्युसंसारवर्त्मनः ॥ २२ ॥
tālanādaratā krūratāpinī taraṇiprabhā
Fond of the sound of the drum, fierce, shining like the sun.
इति श्री स्वर्णमालातन्त्रे ताराम्बाष्टोत्तरशतनाम स्तोत्रम् ।
trapāyuktā trapāmuktā tarpitā tr̥ptikāriṇī
Endowed with modesty, liberated from modesty, satisfying, and fulfilling.
दशमहाविद्या स्तोत्राणि
tāruṇyabhāvasantuṣṭā śakti-rbhaktānurāgiṇī
Content in youthful emotions, devoted to the power of the devotees.

Shakti of Shiva, delight of Shiva, devoted to the worship of Shiva.

With a copper-like glow, the one with a copper hue, nourisher of the copper vessel.

balabhadraprēmaratā balibhu-gbalikalpanī
Fond of strength, love for Balabhadra, the creator of the strong.
