Subrahmanya Shadakshara Ashtottara Shatanama Stotram
This stotra consists of one hundred names of Lord Murugan, each highlighting a different aspect of his divine nature.
श्री सुब्रह्मण्य स्तोत्राणि
śaraṇyaḥ śarvatanayaḥ śarvāṇīpriyanandanaḥ
O Lord Subrahmanya, the one who is the refuge of all,
शरण्यः शर्वतनयः शर्वाणीप्रियनन्दनः ।
śarakānanasambhūtaḥ śarvarīśamukhaḥ śamaḥ
Son of Shiva, beloved of all beings,
शरकाननसम्भूतः शर्वरीशमुखः शमः ॥ १ ॥
śaṅkaraḥ śaraṇatrātā śaśāṅkamukuṭōjjvalaḥ
Born from the face of the night, the one who is peace,
शङ्करः शरणत्राता शशाङ्कमुकुटोज्ज्वलः ।
śarmadaḥ śaṅkhakaṇṭhaśca śarakārmukahētibhr̥t
Shankara, the protector of those who seek refuge,
शर्मदः शङ्खकण्ठश्च शरकार्मुकहेतिभृत् ॥ २ ॥
śaktidhārī śaktikaraḥ śatakōṭyarkapāṭalaḥ
Radiant like the crescent moon, the giver of joy,
शक्तिधारी शक्तिकरः शतकोट्यर्कपाटलः ।
śamadaḥ śatarudrasthaḥ śatamanmathavigrahaḥ
The one who holds the conch, the bow, and the arrow,
शमदः शतरुद्रस्थः शतमन्मथविग्रहः ॥ ३ ॥
raṇāgraṇī rakṣaṇakr̥drakṣōbalavimardanaḥ
The bearer of power, the one who grants strength,
रणाग्रणी रक्षणकृद्रक्षोबलविमर्दनः ।
rahasyajñō ratikarō raktacandanalēpanaḥ
The one who is adorned with countless rays of the sun,
रहस्यज्ञो रतिकरो रक्तचन्दनलेपनः ॥ ४ ॥
ratnadhārī ratnabhūṣō ratnakuṇḍalamaṇḍitaḥ
The one who is peaceful, the embodiment of the hundred Rudras,
रत्नधारी रत्नभूषो रत्नकुण्डलमण्डितः ।
raktāmbarō ramyamukhō ravicandrāgnilōcanaḥ
The one who manifests the form of the hundred desires,
रक्ताम्बरो रम्यमुखो रविचन्द्राग्निलोचनः ॥ ५ ॥
ramākalatrajāmātā rahasyō raghupūjitaḥ
The leader in battle, the protector, the destroyer of enemies,
रमाकलत्रजामाता रहस्यो रघुपूजितः ।
rasakōṇāntarālasthō rajōmūrtī ratipradaḥ
The knower of secrets, the one who brings joy,
रसकोणान्तरालस्थो रजोमूर्ती रतिप्रदः ॥ ६ ॥
vasudō vaṭurūpaśca vasantar̥tupūjitaḥ
Anointed with red sandalwood paste,
वसुदो वटुरूपश्च वसन्तऋतुपूजितः ।
valavairisutānāthō vanajākṣō varākr̥tiḥ
The one who holds jewels, adorned with precious ornaments,
वलवैरिसुतानाथो वनजाक्षो वराकृतिः ॥ ७ ॥
vakratuṇḍānujō vatsō varadābhayahastakaḥ
Dressed in red, with a beautiful face, the one with eyes like the sun and moon,
वक्रतुण्डानुजो वत्सो वरदाभयहस्तकः ।
vatsalō varṣakāraśca vasiṣṭhādiprapūjitaḥ
The mother of Rama's consort, the one who is worshipped by the Raghu clan,
वत्सलो वर्षकारश्च वसिष्ठादिप्रपूजितः ॥ ८ ॥
vaṇigrūpō varēṇyaśca varṇāśramavidhāyakaḥ
The one who resides in the corners of bliss, the embodiment of passion,
वणिग्रूपो वरेण्यश्च वर्णाश्रमविधायकः ।
varadō vajrabhr̥dvandyō vandārujanavatsalaḥ
The one who is the lord of wealth, the one who takes on various forms,
वरदो वज्रभृद्वन्द्यो वन्दारुजनवत्सलः ॥ ९ ॥
nakārarūpō nalinō nakārayutamantrakaḥ
Worshipped in the spring season,
नकाररूपो नलिनो नकारयुतमन्त्रकः ।
nakāravarṇanilayō nandanō nandivanditaḥ
The one who is the lord of the sons of the wind,
नकारवर्णनिलयो नन्दनो नन्दिवन्दितः ॥ १० ॥
naṭēśaputrō namrabhrūrnakṣatragrahanāyakaḥ
The one with a curved trunk, the calf, the one who grants boons and fearlessness.
नटेशपुत्रो नम्रभ्रूर्नक्षत्रग्रहनायकः ।
nagāgranilayō namyō namadbhaktaphalapradaḥ
The affectionate one, the bringer of rain, worshipped by Vasistha and others,
नगाग्रनिलयो नम्यो नमद्भक्तफलप्रदः ॥ ११ ॥
navanāgō nagaharō navagrahasuvanditaḥ
The merchant group, the most excellent, the one who establishes the varna and ashrama system,
नवनागो नगहरो नवग्रहसुवन्दितः ।
navavīrāgrajō navyō namaskārastutipriyaḥ
The giver of boons, the one with a thunderbolt-like body, beloved of the devotees,
नववीराग्रजो नव्यो नमस्कारस्तुतिप्रियः ॥ १२ ॥
bhadrapradaśca bhagavān bhavāraṇyadavānalaḥ
The one in the form of 'na', the lotus-like one, the one who is invoked with 'na',
भद्रप्रदश्च भगवान् भवारण्यदवानलः ।
bhavōdbhavō bhadramūrtirbhartsitāsuramaṇḍalaḥ
The one who resides in the sound of 'na', the joyful one, honored by Nandi,
भवोद्भवो भद्रमूर्तिर्भर्त्सितासुरमण्डलः ॥ १३ ॥
bhayāpahō bhargarūpō bhaktābhīṣṭaphalapradaḥ
The son of the Lord of Dancers, humble, the leader of the stars and celestial bodies,
भयापहो भर्गरूपो भक्ताभीष्टफलप्रदः ।
bhaktigamyō bhaktanidhirbhayaklēśavimōcanaḥ
The one who resides in the mountains, to whom homage is paid, the giver of the fruits of devotion,
भक्तिगम्यो भक्तनिधिर्भयक्लेशविमोचनः ॥ १४ ॥
bharatāgamasuprītō bhaktō bhaktārtibhañjanaḥ
The new serpent, the lord of the mountains, worshipped by the nine planets,
भरतागमसुप्रीतो भक्तो भक्तार्तिभञ्जनः ।
bhayakr̥dbharatārādhyō bharadvājar̥ṣistutaḥ
The elder brother of the new heroes, the one who is honored with salutations and praises,
भयकृद्भरताराध्यो भरद्वाजऋषिस्तुतः ॥ १५ ॥
varuṇō varuṇārādhyō valārātimukhastutaḥ
The one who grants auspiciousness, the divine one, the fire of the forest of existence,
वरुणो वरुणाराध्यो वलारातिमुखस्तुतः ।
vajraśaktyāyudhōpētō varō vakṣaḥsthalōjjvalaḥ
The source of existence, the auspicious form, the one who chastises the assembly of demons,
वज्रशक्त्यायुधोपेतो वरो वक्षःस्थलोज्ज्वलः ॥ १६ ॥
vasturūpō vaśidhyēyō valitrayavirājitaḥ
The remover of fear, the one in the form of light, the giver of desired fruits to the devotees,
वस्तुरूपो वशिध्येयो वलित्रयविराजितः ।
vakrālakō valayadhr̥t valatpītāmbarōjjvalaḥ
The one who is attainable through devotion, the treasure of the devotees, the liberator from fear and suffering,
वक्रालको वलयधृत् वलत्पीताम्बरोज्ज्वलः ॥ १७ ॥
vacōrūpō vacanadō vacō:'tītacaritrakaḥ
Pleased by the scriptures of Bharat, the devotee who removes the distress of the devotees,
वचोरूपो वचनदो वचोऽतीतचरित्रकः ।
varadō vaśyaphaladō vallīdēvīmanōharaḥ
Worshipped by the fear-inducing, praised by the sage Bharadvaja.
वरदो वश्यफलदो वल्लीदेवीमनोहरः ॥ १८ ॥
iti śrīsubrahmaṇya ṣaḍakṣarāṣṭōttaraśatanāmastōtram
The one who is worshipped by Varuna, praised by the face of the ocean,
