You are revered by humans, nagas, and gods alike. O daughter of Sage Jahnu, all glory to you!

You are the 'Tripathaga', flowing through the three worlds (heaven, earth, and the netherworld). You are a repository of virtues and the cleanser of all sins.

आप निर्मल और विशाल जलधारा को प्रवाहित करती हैं, जो शीतल है और तीनों प्रकार के तापों (दैहिक, दैविक, भौतिक) को हरने वाली है। आपकी धारा में सुंदर भँवर और तरंगों की मालिकाएँ शोभायमान होती हैं। You flow with pure and vast waters, which are cool and alleviate the three types of afflictions (physical, divine, and material). Your current is adorned with beautiful whirlpools and garlands of waves.

नगरवासियों द्वारा अर्पित पूजा और उपहारों से आपकी चंद्रमा के समान धवल धारा सुशोभित होती है। आप संसार के भार को नष्ट करने वाली हैं और भक्तों के लिए भक्ति रूपी कल्पवृक्ष के समान हैं, जो सभी इच्छाओं को पूर्ण करती हैं। Your moon-white stream is adorned by the worship and offerings presented by the people. You are the destroyer of the burdens of worldly existence and, for devotees, you are like the wish-fulfilling tree (Kalpavriksha) of devotion.

हे माँ गंगे, आप अपने तट पर निवास करने वाले पक्षियों, जल और स्थल पर विचरण करने वाले पशुओं, पतंगों, कीटों और जटिल तपस्या करने वाले तपस्वियों – सभी का समान भाव से पालन करती हैं। आपकी कृपा सभी जीवों पर एक समान बरसती है, चाहे वे छोटे हों या बड़े, साधारण हों या तपस्वी। O Mother Ganga, you equally nurture all beings residing on your banks – birds, aquatic and terrestrial animals, insects, and even ascetics engaged in severe penance. Your grace showers equally upon all creatures, whether small or large, common or devout.

तुलसीदास जी कहते हैं कि हे माँ, आपके तट पर श्रीराम का स्मरण करने से, आप हमें ऐसी बुद्धि प्रदान करें जिससे हम मोह रूपी महिषासुर और कालिका (अज्ञान) का नाश कर सकें। आपकी कृपा से ही हम माया के बंधनों से मुक्त होकर सत्य का मार्ग अपना सकते हैं। Tulsidas prays, 'O Mother, by remembering Lord Rama on your banks, may you grant us such wisdom that we can overcome the buffalo-demon of delusion (Moh-Mahisha) and the darkness of ignorance (Kalika).' Through your grace alone, we can be freed from the bonds of illusion and follow the path of truth.
