जय पुरुषोत्तम देवा, स्वामी जय पुरुषोत्तम देवा। महिमा अमित तुम्हारी, सुर-मुनि करें सेवा॥
jaya puruṣottama devā, svāmī jaya puruṣottama devā| mahimā amita tumhārī, sura-muni kareṁ sevā||
हे पुरुषोत्तम देव, आपकी जय हो! हे स्वामी, आपकी जय हो! आपकी महिमा अपरंपार है, जिसका वर्णन करना असंभव है। देवता और ऋषि-मुनि भी आपकी सेवा में लीन रहते हैं और आपके गुणों का गान करते हैं। Hail to Lord Purushottam, hail to the divine master! Your glory is boundless and immeasurable, beyond all description. Even gods and sages are devoted to your service, constantly singing your praises and acknowledging your supreme power.
जय पुरुषोत्तम देवा॥

यह पंक्ति भगवान पुरुषोत्तम की जय-जयकार करती है, उनकी सर्वोच्चता और महिमा को दोहराती है। यह भक्तों को उनके नाम का स्मरण करने और उनके प्रति अपनी श्रद्धा व्यक्त करने के लिए प्रेरित करती है। Repetition of verse 1. सब मासों में उत्तम, तुमको बतलाया। कृपा हुई जब हरि की, कृष्ण रूप पाया॥
saba māsoṁ meṁ uttama, tumako batalāyā| kṛpā huī jaba hari kī, kṛṣṇa rūpa pāyā||
हे पुरुषोत्तम, आपको सभी महीनों में श्रेष्ठ बताया गया है। जब भगवान हरि की कृपा हुई, तब आपने कृष्ण का रूप धारण किया। यह दर्शाता है कि पुरुषोत्तम मास भगवान विष्णु के कृष्ण अवतार से जुड़ा है और अत्यंत पवित्र है। O Purushottam, you are declared to be the most excellent among all months. When Lord Hari's grace descended, you manifested in the form of Krishna. This highlights the sacred connection of Purushottam month with Lord Vishnu's Krishna avatar, making it exceptionally holy.
पूजा तुमको जिसने सर्व सुक्ख दीना। निर्मल करके काया, पाप छार कीना॥
pūjā tumako jisane sarva sukkha dīnā| nirmala karake kāyā, pāpa chāra kīnā||
जिस किसी ने भी आपकी पूजा की है, उसे आपने सभी प्रकार के सुख प्रदान किए हैं। आपने उनके शरीर को निर्मल कर दिया है और उनके सभी पापों को राख कर दिया है, अर्थात नष्ट कर दिया है। Whoever has worshipped you has been granted all kinds of happiness and prosperity. You have purified their bodies and reduced all their sins to ashes, effectively destroying them completely.
मेधावी मुनि कन्या, महिमा जब जानी। द्रोपदि नाम सती से, जग ने सन्मानी॥
medhāvī muni kanyā, mahimā jaba jānī| dropadi nāma satī se, jaga ne sanmānī||
जब मेधावी मुनि की कन्या ने आपकी महिमा को जाना, तो द्रोपदी जैसी सती स्त्री को भी संसार में सम्मान मिला। यह दर्शाता है कि आपकी महिमा जानने और आपकी भक्ति करने से भक्तों को संसार में उच्च स्थान और सम्मान प्राप्त होता है। When the daughter of the wise sage Medhavi understood your glory, even a chaste woman like Draupadi received honor in the world. This illustrates that knowing your greatness and engaging in your devotion bestows high status and respect upon devotees in this world.
विप्र सुदेव सेवा कर, मृत सुत पुनि पाया। धाम हरि का पाया, यश जग में छाया॥
vipra sudeva sevā kara, mṛta suta puni pāyā| dhāma hari kā pāyā, yaśa jaga meṁ chāyā||
हे पुरुषोत्तम देव! आपकी कृपा से ही ब्राह्मण सुदेव ने अपने मृत पुत्र को पुनः प्राप्त किया था। आपकी भक्ति और सेवा के प्रभाव से ही उन्हें हरिधाम की प्राप्ति हुई और उनका यश संसार में फैल गया। यह दर्शाता है कि आपकी सेवा से असंभव भी संभव हो जाता है। O Purushottam Deva! It was through your grace that the Brahmin Sudev regained his deceased son. Due to the power of his devotion and service to you, he attained the abode of Hari, and his fame spread throughout the world. This illustrates that even the impossible becomes possible through your service.
नृप दृढ़धन्वा पर जब, तुमने कृपा करी। व्रतविधि नियम और पूजा, कीनी भक्ति भरी॥
nṛpa dṛṛhadhanvā para jaba, tumane kṛpā karī| vratavidhi niyama aura pūjā, kīnī bhakti bharī||
हे प्रभु! जब आपने राजा दृढ़धन्वा पर अपनी कृपा दृष्टि डाली, तब उन्होंने आपके व्रत, विधि और पूजा को अत्यंत भक्तिभाव से संपन्न किया। आपकी कृपा से ही उन्हें सही मार्ग मिला और वे आपकी भक्ति में लीन हो सके। O Lord! When you bestowed your grace upon King Dridhadhanva, he performed your vows, rituals, and worship with immense devotion. It was through your grace that he found the right path and was able to immerse himself in your devotion.
शूद्र मणीग्रिव पापी, दीपदान किया। निर्मल बुद्धि तुम करके, हरि धाम दिया॥
śūdra maṇīgriva pāpī, dīpadāna kiyā| nirmala buddhi tuma karake, hari dhāma diyā||
हे पुरुषोत्तम! शूद्र मणीग्रिव, जो पापी था, उसने मात्र एक दीपदान किया। आपकी असीम कृपा से आपने उसकी बुद्धि को निर्मल कर दिया और उसे अपने परमधाम में स्थान दिया। यह आपकी दयालुता का अद्भुत प्रमाण है कि आप छोटे से कृत्य से भी प्रसन्न हो जाते हैं। O Purushottam! The Shudra Manigriva, who was a sinner, merely offered a lamp. By your boundless grace, you purified his intellect and granted him a place in your supreme abode. This is a wonderful testament to your compassion, showing that you are pleased even by a small act of devotion.
पुरुषोत्तम व्रत-पूजा हित चित से करते। प्रभुदास भव नद से सहजही वे तरते॥
puruṣottama vrata-pūjā hita cita se karate| prabhudāsa bhava nada se sahajahī ve tarate||
जो भक्त पुरुषोत्तम मास के व्रत और पूजा को सच्चे मन और एकाग्र चित्त से करते हैं, वे प्रभु की कृपा से इस भवसागर रूपी नदी को सहजता से पार कर जाते हैं। उन्हें जन्म-मरण के चक्र से मुक्ति मिलती है और वे परमधाम को प्राप्त होते हैं। Devotees who perform the vows and worship of Purushottam month with a sincere heart and focused mind easily cross the river of this worldly existence (samsara) by the grace of the Lord. They attain liberation from the cycle of birth and death and reach the supreme abode.
