ऊँ जय कश्यप नन्दन, प्रभु जय अदिति नन्दन। त्रिभुवन तिमिर निकंदन, भक्त हृदय चन्दन॥
ūm̐ jaya kaśyapa nandana, prabhu jaya aditi nandana| tribhuvana timira nikaṁdana, bhakta hṛdaya candana||
हे कश्यप ऋषि के पुत्र, हे अदिति के आनंद देने वाले! आपकी जय हो। आप तीनों लोकों के अंधकार को दूर करने वाले हैं और भक्तों के हृदय को चंदन के समान शीतलता प्रदान करने वाले हैं। आपके आगमन से सभी कष्ट दूर होते हैं और मन को शांति मिलती है। Hail to you, O son of Kashyap and delight of Aditi! You are the dispeller of darkness from all three worlds and bring coolness to the hearts of devotees, much like sandalwood. Your presence removes all suffering and brings peace to the mind.

यह पंक्ति पहले पद की पुनरावृत्ति है, जो सूर्य देव की जय-जयकार करती है। हे सूर्य देव, आप सात घोड़ों वाले रथ पर विराजमान हैं और एक चक्र धारण करने वाले हैं। आपका यह स्वरूप अत्यंत तेजस्वी और शक्तिशाली है। Repetition of verse 1. O Lord Surya, you are seated on a chariot drawn by seven horses and hold a single wheel. This form of yours is extremely radiant and powerful.
दु:खहारी, सुखकारी, मानस मलहारी॥
du:khahārī, sukhakārī, mānasa malahārī||
आप सभी दुखों को हरने वाले और सुख प्रदान करने वाले हैं। आप मन के मैल और अज्ञानता को दूर करते हैं, जिससे हृदय शुद्ध होता है। आपकी कृपा से भक्त को आंतरिक शांति और प्रसन्नता मिलती है। You are the remover of all sorrows and the bestower of happiness. You cleanse the impurities of the mind and dispel ignorance, purifying the heart. Through your grace, devotees attain inner peace and joy.
सुर मुनि भूसुर वन्दित, विमल विभवशाली। अघ-दल-दलन दिवाकर, दिव्य किरण माली॥
sura muni bhūsura vandita, vimala vibhavaśālī| agha-dala-dalana divākara, divya kiraṇa mālī||
देवता, मुनि और पृथ्वी के देवता (ब्राह्मण) सभी आपकी वंदना करते हैं, क्योंकि आप निर्मल ऐश्वर्य से परिपूर्ण हैं। आप पापों के समूह को नष्ट करने वाले दिवाकर (सूर्य) हैं और दिव्य किरणों की माला धारण किए हुए हैं। Gods, sages, and earthly deities (Brahmins) all worship you, for you are endowed with pure and untainted glory. You are the sun (Diwakar) who destroys hordes of sins, adorned with a garland of divine rays.
सकल सुकर्म प्रसविता, सविता शुभकारी। विश्व विलोचन मोचन, भव-बंधन भारी॥
sakala sukarma prasavitā, savitā śubhakārī| viśva vilocana mocana, bhava-baṁdhana bhārī||
आप सभी शुभ कर्मों के जनक हैं और कल्याणकारी सविता (सूर्य) हैं। आप विश्व के नेत्र स्वरूप हैं और भवसागर के भारी बंधनों से मुक्ति दिलाने वाले हैं। आपकी कृपा से जीव जन्म-मृत्यु के चक्र से छूट जाता है। You are the progenitor of all good deeds and the benevolent Sun (Savita). You are the eye of the universe and the liberator from the heavy bonds of worldly existence. Through your grace, beings are freed from the cycle of birth and death.
कमल समूह विकासक, नाशक त्रय तापा। सेवत सहज हरत अति, मनसिज संतापा॥
kamala samūha vikāsaka, nāśaka traya tāpā| sevata sahaja harata ati, manasija saṁtāpā||
हे सूर्यदेव, आप कमलों के समूह को विकसित करने वाले हैं, जैसे कमल आपके प्रकाश से खिलते हैं। आप तीनों प्रकार के तापों (दैहिक, दैविक, भौतिक) का नाश करने वाले हैं। आपकी सेवा करने से कामदेव से उत्पन्न होने वाले मानसिक संताप सहज ही दूर हो जाते हैं। O Sun God, you are the one who makes lotus flowers bloom, just as they blossom with your light. You are the destroyer of the three types of suffering (physical, divine, and material). By serving you, the mental anguish caused by Kama (desire) is easily removed.
नेत्र व्याधि हर सुरवर, भू-पीड़ा हारी। वृष्टि विमोचन संतत, परहित व्रतधारी॥
netra vyādhi hara suravara, bhū-pīṛā hārī| vṛṣṭi vimocana saṁtata, parahita vratadhārī||
आप नेत्र संबंधी रोगों को हरने वाले देवताओं में श्रेष्ठ हैं और पृथ्वी से जुड़ी पीड़ाओं को दूर करते हैं। आप निरंतर वर्षा प्रदान करने वाले हैं और दूसरों के हित के लिए व्रत धारण करने वाले हैं। आपकी कृपा से सभी प्रकार की व्याधियाँ और कष्ट दूर होते हैं। You are the best among gods who cure eye ailments and alleviate earthly sufferings. You constantly bring forth rain and are committed to the welfare of others. By your grace, all kinds of diseases and troubles are dispelled.
सूर्यदेव करुणाकर, अब करुणा कीजै। हर अज्ञान मोह सब, तत्वज्ञान दीजै॥
sūryadeva karuṇākara, aba karuṇā kījai| hara ajñāna moha saba, tatvajñāna dījai||
हे करुणा के सागर सूर्यदेव, अब हम पर अपनी करुणा बरसाइए। हमारे मन से अज्ञान और मोह के अंधकार को दूर कीजिए। हमें आत्मज्ञान और सत्य का बोध प्रदान कीजिए, जिससे हम जीवन के वास्तविक अर्थ को समझ सकें। O Sun God, ocean of compassion, now shower your mercy upon us. Remove the darkness of ignorance and delusion from our minds. Grant us self-knowledge and the realization of truth, so that we may understand the true meaning of life.
