Hail to the divine Mahadeva, the Lord of Lords!
जय सरवगुणशरेŚठ जय सरवसुराधिप
jaya sarvaguṇaśreŚṭha jaya sarvasurādhipa
Hail to the embodiment of all virtues, the supreme ruler of all celestial beings!
जय परकृ^िति कलयाणि जय परकृ^ितिनायिके
jaya prakṛ^iti kalyāṇi jaya prakṛ^itināyike
Hail to the auspicious nature of creation, the divine consort of nature!
जय परकृ^ितिदूरे तवं जय परकृ^ितिसुनदरि
jaya prakṛ^itidūre tvaṃ jaya prakṛ^itisundari
Hail to the one who transcends the essence of creation, the beautiful one of nature!
जयामोघमहामाय जयामोघ मनोरथ
jayāmoghamahāmāya jayāmogha manoratha
Hail to the unfailing great illusion, the unfailing source of desires!
जयामोघमहालील जयामोघमहाबल
jayāmoghamahālīla jayāmoghamahābala
Hail to the unfailing divine play, the unfailing source of strength!
जय विशवजगनमातरजय विशवजगनमये
jaya viśvajaganmātarjaya viśvajaganmaye
Hail to the mother of the universe, hail to the essence of the cosmos!
जय विशवजगदधात्रि जय विशवजगतसखि
jaya viśvajagaddhātri jaya viśvajagatsakhi
Hail to the nurturer of the world, hail to the friend of all beings!
जय शाशवतिकैशवरय जय शाशवतिकालय

Hail to the eternal lordship, hail to the eternal time!
जय शाशवतिकाकार जय शाशवतिकानुग

Hail to the eternal form, hail to the eternal protector!
जयातमत्रयनिरमात्रि जयातमत्रयपालिनि

Hail to the one who transcends the three realms, hail to the guardian of the three realms!
जयातमत्रयसंहरत्रि जयातमत्रयनायिके
jayātmatrayasaṃhartri jayātmatrayanāyike
Hail to the one who gathers the three realms, hail to the divine consort of the three realms!
जयावलोकनायततजगतकारणबृ^िंहण
jayāvalokanāyattajagatkāraṇabṛ^iṃhaṇa
Hail to the one who observes the world, the cause of the universe's expansion!
जयोपेकŚाकटाकŚोतथहुतभुगभुकतभौतिक
jayopekŚākaṭākŚotthahutabhugbhuktabhautika
Hail to the one who is beyond all, the sustainer of the material world!
जय देवादयविज्ञेये सवातमसूकŚमदृ^िशोजजवले
jaya devādyavijñeye svātmasūkŚmadṛ^iśojjvale
Hail to the one known by the gods, the subtle essence of all that is perceived!
जय सथूलातमशकतयेशे जय वयापतछराछरे
jaya sthūlātmaśaktyeśe jaya vyāptacharāchare
Hail to the one who is the essence of the gross and the subtle, the one who pervades all beings!
जय नामैकविनयसतविशवतततवसमुछछय
jaya nāmaikavinyastaviśvatattvasamuchchaya
Hail to the one whose name is the embodiment of humility, the essence of all existence!
जयासुरशिरोनिŚठ शरेŚठानुगकदमबक
jayāsuraśironiŚṭha śreŚṭhānugakadambaka
Hail to the one who crushes the heads of demons, the protector of the righteous!
जयोपाशरितसंरकŚासंविधानपटीयसि
jayopāśritasaṃrakŚāsaṃvidhānapaṭīyasi
Hail to the one who binds the forces of nature, the master of the cosmic order!
जयोनमूलितसंसारविŚवृ^िकŚाङकुरोदगमे
jayonmūlitasaṃsāraviŚavṛ^ikŚāṅkurodgame
Victory to the root of existence, from which the world arises, like the sprouting of a seed.
जय परादेशिकैशवरयवीरयशौरयविजृ^िमभण
jaya prādeśikaiśvaryavīryaśauryavijṛ^imbhaṇa
Victory to the supreme lord of the regions, the valorous one, whose glory shines forth.
जय विशवबहिरभूत निरसतपरवैभव
jaya viśvabahirbhūta nirastaparavaibhava
Victory to the one who transcends all, dispelling the illusion of worldly wealth.
जय परणीतपञछारथपरयोगपरमामृ^ित
jaya praṇītapañchārthaprayogaparamāmṛ^ita
Victory to the one who bestows the ultimate nectar of union, the essence of all paths.
जय पञछारथविज्ञानसुधासतोत्रसवरूपिणि
jaya pañchārthavijñānasudhāstotrasvarūpiṇi
Victory to the embodiment of the sacred hymn, the quintessence of knowledge and bliss.
जयतु घोरसंसारमहारोगभिŚगवर
jayatu ghorasaṃsāramahārogabhiŚagvara
Victory to the great healer of the dreadful world, the serpent of suffering.
जयानादिमलाज्ञानतमःपटलछनदरिके
jayānādimalājñānatamaḥpaṭalachandrike
Victory to the primordial wisdom, dispelling the darkness of ignorance.
जय त्रिपुरकालागने जय त्रिपुरभैरवि
jaya tripurakālāgne jaya tripurabhairavi
Victory to the fierce destroyer of Tripura, victory to the terrifying Bhairava.
जय त्रिगुणनिरमुकते जय त्रिगुणमरदिनि
jaya triguṇanirmukte jaya triguṇamardini
Victory to the one who liberates from the three gunas, victory to the one who conquers the threefold nature.
जय परथमसरवज्ञ जय सरवपरबोधिक
jaya prathamasarvajña jaya sarvaprabodhika
Victory to the one who knows all, the first among the wise, the source of all enlightenment.
जय परछुरदिवयाङग जय परारथितदायिनि
jaya prachuradivyāṅga jaya prārthitadāyini
Victory to the divine form that fulfills all desires, the giver of ultimate refuge.
कव देव ते परं धाम कव छ तुछCहं छ नो वछः
kva deva te paraṃ dhāma kva cha tuchChaṃ cha no vachaḥ
O divine one, where is your supreme abode? Where is your essence, O source of all?
तथापि भगवन भकतया परलपनतं कŚमसव माम
tathāpi bhagavan bhaktyā pralapantaṃ kŚamasva mām
Yet, O Lord, by the devotion of your devotees, may I receive your grace.
विज्ञापयैवंविधैः सूकतैरविशवकरमा छतुरमुखः
vijñāpyaivaṃvidhaiḥ sūktairviśvakarmā chaturmukhaḥ
Thus, may the four-faced one, through auspicious words, reveal the cosmic actions.
नमशछकार रुदराय रदराणयै छ मुहुरमुहुः
namaśchakāra rudrāya radrāṇyai cha muhurmuhuḥ
Salutations to Rudra, the one who is ever-present, again and again.
िदं सतोत्रवरं पुणयं बरहमणा समुदीरितम
idaṃ stotravaraṃ puṇyaṃ brahmaṇā samudīritam
This stotra, a boon of purity, is sung by the wise, bringing forth the essence of Brahman.
रधनारीशवरं नाम शिवयोरहरŚवरधनम
ardhanārīśvaraṃ nāma śivayorharŚavardhanam
The name of the Lord of the half-woman, Shiva, who is the essence of all.
य िदं कीरतयेदभकतया यसय कसयापि शिकŚया
ya idaṃ kīrtayedbhaktyā yasya kasyāpi śikŚayā
Whoever sings this with devotion shall attain the fruits of their prayers.
स ततफलमवापनोति शिवयोः परीतिकारणात
sa tatphalamavāpnoti śivayoḥ prītikāraṇāt
They shall receive the blessings of Shiva, the cause of all joy.
सकलभुवनभूतभावनाभयां जननविनाशविहीनविगरहाभयाम
sakalabhuvanabhūtabhāvanābhyāṃ jananavināśavihīnavigrahābhyām
In all worlds, may the essence of creation be free from fear, devoid of destruction.
नरवरयुवतीवपुरधराभयां सततमहं परणतो.समि शङकराभयाम
naravarayuvatīvapurdharābhyāṃ satatamahaṃ praṇato.asmi śaṅkarābhyām
I bow down always, seeking refuge in the form of the divine couple, Ardhanarishvara, who embodies the essence of both man and woman, and grants fearlessness.
िति शरीशिवमहापुराणे सपतमयां वायवीयसंहितायां पूरवखणडे पञछदशाधयायानतरगतं बरहमणा कृ^ितं रधनारीशवरसतोत्रम
iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe saptamyāṃ vāyavīyasaṃhitāyāṃ pūrvakhaṇḍe pañchadaśādhyāyāntargataṃ brahmaṇā kṛ^itaṃ ardhanārīśvarastotram
Thus, in the great Shiva Purana, within the Vayaviyasanhita, in the Purvakhanda, in the fifteenth chapter, is the revered stotra composed by Brahmana, dedicated to Ardhanarishvara.
