Heramba Ganapati Stotram
The stotram calls upon Ganesha in his form as Heramba, emphasizing his role as a protector and source of strength.
श्री गणेश स्तोत्राणि
gauryuvāca
Gaury said,
गौर्युवाच ।
gajānana jñānavihārakāni- -nna māṁ ca jānāsi parāvamarṣām
"O Gajanana, who delights in knowledge,
गजानन ज्ञानविहारकानि-
gaṇēśa rakṣasva na cēccharīraṁ tyajāmi sadyastvayi bhaktiyuktā
You do not know me, the supreme anger.
-न्न मां च जानासि परावमर्षाम् ।
vighnēśa hēramba mahōdara priya lambōdara prēmavivardhanācyuta
O Ganesh, protect me; I shall not abandon this body
गणेश रक्षस्व न चेच्छरीरं
vighnasya hartā:'surasaṅghahartā māṁ rakṣa daityāttvayi bhaktiyuktām
Immediately, as you are endowed with devotion.
त्यजामि सद्यस्त्वयि भक्तियुक्ता ॥ १ ॥
kiṁ siddhibuddhiprasarēṇa mōha- -yuktō:'si kiṁ vā niśi nidritō:'si
O Vighnesha, beloved of Heramba,
विघ्नेश हेरम्ब महोदर प्रिय
kiṁ lakṣalābhārthavicārayuktaḥ kiṁ māṁ ca vismr̥tya susaṁsthitō:'si
O Lambodara, who increases love, unfailing.
लम्बोदर प्रेमविवर्धनाच्युत ।
kiṁ bhaktasaṅgēna ca dēvadēva nānōpacāraiśca suyantritō:'si
You are the remover of obstacles, the destroyer of the host of demons;
विघ्नस्य हर्ताऽसुरसङ्घहर्ता
kiṁ mōdakārthē gaṇapādbhr̥tō:'si nānāvihārēṣu ca vakratuṇḍa
Protect me, devoted to you, from the demons.
मां रक्ष दैत्यात्त्वयि भक्तियुक्ताम् ॥ २ ॥
svānandabhōgēṣu parihr̥tō:'si dāsīṁ ca vismr̥tya mahānubhāva
What is the use of success and intelligence if you are deluded?
किं सिद्धिबुद्धिप्रसरेण मोह-
ānantyalīlāsu ca lālasō:'si kiṁ bhaktarakṣārthasusaṅkaṭasthaḥ
Are you asleep at night?
-युक्तोऽसि किं वा निशि निद्रितोऽसि ।
ahō gaṇēśāmr̥tapānadakṣā- -maraistathā vāsurapaiḥ smr̥tō:'si
What is the use of contemplating the purpose of wealth?
किं लक्षलाभार्थविचारयुक्तः
tadarthanānāvidhisamyutō:'si visr̥jya māṁ dāsīmananyabhāvām
What is the use of being established while forgetting me?
किं मां च विस्मृत्य सुसंस्थितोऽसि ॥ ३ ॥
rakṣasva māṁ dīnatamā parēśa sarvatra cittēṣu ca saṁsthitastvam
What is the use of being with devotees, O Lord of Lords,
किं भक्तसङ्गेन च देवदेव
prabhō vilambēna vināyakō:'si brahmēśa kiṁ dēva namō namastē
If you are well-ordered with no offerings?
नानोपचारैश्च सुयन्त्रितोऽसि ।
bhaktābhimānīti ca nāma mukhyaṁ vēdē tvabhāvān nahi cēnmahātman
What is the use of being the bearer of sweets,
किं मोदकार्थे गणपाद्भृतोऽसि
āgatya hatvā:'ditijaṁ surēśa māṁ rakṣa dāsīṁ hr̥di pādaniṣṭhām
If you are removed from various pastimes, O Vakratunda?
नानाविहारेषु च वक्रतुण्ड ॥ ४ ॥
ahō na dūraṁ tava kiñcidēva kathaṁ na buddhīśa samāgatō:'si
What is the use of enjoying your own bliss
स्वानन्दभोगेषु परिहृतोऽसि
sucintyadēva prajahāmi dēhaṁ yaśaḥ kariṣyē viparītamēvam
While forgetting the servant, O great one?
दासीं च विस्मृत्य महानुभाव ।
rakṣa rakṣa dayāsindhō:'parādhānmē kṣamasva ca
What is the use of being immersed in endless pastimes,
आनन्त्यलीलासु च लालसोऽसि
kṣaṇē kṣaṇē tvahaṁ dāsī rakṣitavyā viśēṣataḥ
If you are troubled by the protection of your devotees?
किं भक्तरक्षार्थसुसङ्कटस्थः ॥ ५ ॥
stuvatyāmēva pārvatyāṁ śaṅkarō bōdhasamyutaḥ
Alas, O Ganesh, who is known for his nectar-like food,
अहो गणेशामृतपानदक्षा-
babhūva gaṇapānāṁ vai śrutvā hāhāravaṁ vidhēḥ
And thus remembered by the great beings.
-मरैस्तथा वासुरपैः स्मृतोऽसि ।
gaṇēśaṁ manasā smr̥tvā vr̥ṣārūḍhaḥ samāyayau
You are endowed with various methods for that purpose;
तदर्थनानाविधिसम्युतोऽसि
kṣaṇēna daityarājaṁ taṁ dr̥ṣṭvā ḍamaruṇā hanat
Do not abandon me, a servant with unwavering devotion.
विसृज्य मां दासीमनन्यभावाम् ॥ ६ ॥
tataḥ sō:'pi śivaṁ vīkṣyāliṅgituṁ dhāvitō:'bhavat
Protect me, O supreme Lord, who is the most pitiable.
रक्षस्व मां दीनतमा परेश
śivasya śūlikādīni śastrāṇi kuṇṭhitāni vai
You are established in all hearts,
सर्वत्र चित्तेषु च संस्थितस्त्वम् ।
taṁ dr̥ṣṭvā paramāścaryaṁ bhayabhītō mahēśvaraḥ
O Lord, without delay, you are Vinayaka.
प्रभो विलम्बेन विनायकोऽसि
sasmāra gaṇapaṁ sō:'pi nirvighnārthaṁ prajāpatē
O Brahma, what is the use of the deity? I bow to you."
ब्रह्मेश किं देव नमो नमस्ते ॥ ७ ॥
iti mudgalapurāṇē hēramba stōtram
The name of the devotee's pride is indeed the main one.
