Sri Chinnamastha devi stotram
The Sri Chinnamastha Devi Stotram consists of verses that extol the virtues and powers of Goddess Chinnamasta, inviting her blessings.
दशमहाविद्या स्तोत्राणि
īśvara uvāca
I bow to the supreme hymn, the king of praises, which grants auspiciousness.
ईश्वर उवाच ।
stavarājamahaṁ vandē vai rōcanyāśśubhapradaṁ
In the navel, the pure lotus shines, above which is the radiant circle of the moon's rays.
स्तवराजमहं वन्दे वै रोचन्याश्शुभप्रदं । नाभौ शुभ्रारविन्दं तदुपरि विलसन्मण्डलं चण्डरश्मेः
nābhau śubhrāravindaṁ tadupari vilasanmaṇḍalaṁ caṇḍaraśmēḥ saṁsārasyaikasārāṁ tribhuvanajananīṁ dharmakāmārthadātrīṁ
The essence of the cycle of existence, the mother of the three worlds, the giver of righteousness, desire, and wealth.
संसारस्यैकसारां त्रिभुवनजननीं धर्मकामार्थदात्रीं । तस्मिन्नध्ये त्रिभागे त्रितयतनुधरां छिन्नमस्तां प्रशस्तां
tasminnadhyē tribhāgē tritayatanudharāṁ chinnamastāṁ praśastāṁ tāṁ vandē chinnamastāṁ śamanabhayaharāṁ yōginīṁ yōgamudrām
In that, in the three parts, I praise Chinnamastā, the one who bears the form of the third.
तां वन्दे छिन्नमस्तां शमनभयहरां योगिनीं योगमुद्राम् ॥ १ ॥
nābhau śuddhasarōjavaktravilasadbandhūkapuṣpāruṇaṁ bhāsvadbhāskaramaṇḍalaṁ tadudarē tadyōnicakraṁ mahat
I bow to Chinnamastā, the yoginī who dispels fear and grants liberation.
नाभौ शुद्धसरोजवक्त्रविलसद्बन्धूकपुष्पारुणं
tanmadhyē viparītamaithunarata pradyumnasatkāminī pr̥ṣṭhaṁsyāttaruṇārya kōṭivilasattējassvarūpāṁ bhajē
In the navel, the pure lotus with a beautiful face, adorned with the red flowers of the beloved.
भास्वद्भास्करमण्डलं तदुदरे तद्योनिचक्रं महत् । तन्मध्ये विपरीतमैथुनरत प्रद्युम्नसत्कामिनी
vāmē chinnaśirōdharāṁ taditarē pāṇau mahatkartr̥kāṁ pratyālīḍhapadāṁ digantavasanāmunmukta kēśavrajāṁ
The radiant sun's circle, within which is the great womb chakra.
पृष्ठंस्यात्तरुणार्य कोटिविलसत्तेजस्स्वरूपां भजे ॥ २ ॥
chinnātmīya śirassamaccala damr̥ddhārāṁ pibantīṁ parāṁ bālāditya samaprakāśa vilasannētratrayōdbhāsinīm
In the center of that, the one who is engaged in reversed sexual union, the beloved of Pradyumna.
वामे छिन्नशिरोधरां तदितरे पाणौ महत्कर्तृकां
vāmādanyatra nālaṁ bahugahanagaladraktadhārābhiruccai- rgāyantīmasthibhūṣāṁ karakamalalasatkartr̥kāmugrarūpāṁ
From the back, I worship the youthful lady, who shines like a million suns.
प्रत्यालीढपदां दिगन्तवसनामुन्मुक्त केशव्रजां । छिन्नात्मीय शिरस्समच्चल दमृद्धारां पिबन्तीं परां
raktāmāraktakēśīmavagatavasanāvarṇanīmātmaśaktiṁ pratyālīḍhōrupādāmaruṇi tanayanāṁ yōginīṁ yōganidrām
On the left, the one with a severed head, and on the other hand, the great creator.
बालादित्य समप्रकाश विलसन्नेत्रत्रयोद्भासिनीम् ॥ ३ ॥
digvastrāṁ muktakēśīṁ pralayaghanaghaṭā ghōrarūpāṁ pracaṇḍāṁ damṣṭrāduḥprēkṣyavaktrōdaravivaralasallōlajihvāgrabhāsāṁ
With limbs folded, she is free, with flowing hair, and is adorned with a garland of flowers.
वामादन्यत्र नालं बहुगहनगलद्रक्तधाराभिरुच्चै-
vidyullōlākṣiyugmāṁ hr̥dayataṭalasadbhōginīṁ bhīmamūrtiṁ sadyaḥ chinnātmakaṇṭhapragalitarudhirairḍākinī vardhayantīm
The one whose head is severed, drinking the essence of the supreme.
र्गायन्तीमस्थिभूषां करकमललसत्कर्तृकामुग्ररूपां । रक्तामारक्तकेशीमवगतवसनावर्णनीमात्मशक्तिं
brahmēśānācyutādyaiśśirasi vinihitā mandapādāravindai rājñairyōgīndramukhyaiḥ pratipadamaniśaṁ cintitāṁ cintyarūpāṁ
She shines like the young sun, with three radiant eyes.
प्रत्यालीढोरुपादामरुणि तनयनां योगिनीं योगनिद्राम् ॥ ४ ॥
saṁsārē sārabhūtāṁ tribhuvanajananīṁ chinnamastāṁ praśastāṁ iṣṭāṁ tāmiṣṭadātrīṁ kalikaluṣaharāṁ cētasā cintayāmi
On the left, there is no limit to the many deep red streams flowing high,
दिग्वस्त्रां मुक्तकेशीं प्रलयघनघटा घोररूपां
utpatti sthitisaṁhr̥tīrghaṭayituṁ dhattē trirūpāṁ tanuṁ traiguṇyājjagatōyadīyavikr̥ti brahmācyutaśśūlabhr̥t
Singing with a body adorned with ornaments, fierce in form.
प्रचण्डां दम्ष्ट्रादुःप्रेक्ष्यवक्त्रोदरविवरलसल्लोलजिह्वाग्रभासां । विद्युल्लोलाक्षियुग्मां हृदयतटलसद्भोगिनीं भीममूर्तिं
tāmādyāṁ prakr̥tiṁ smarāmi manasā sarvārthasaṁsiddhayē yasmātmsērapadāravindayugalē lābhaṁ bhajantē narāḥ
With red and dark hair, she is the essence of the self, the divine power.
सद्यः छिन्नात्मकण्ठप्रगलितरुधिरैर्डाकिनी वर्धयन्तीम् ॥ ५ ॥
abhilaṣita parastrī yōgapūjāparō:'haṁ bahuvidhajana bhāvārambhasambhāvitō:'haṁ
With folded limbs, she is the yoginī, the one in deep meditation.
ब्रह्मेशानाच्युताद्यैश्शिरसि विनिहिता मन्दपादारविन्दै
paśujanaviratō:'haṁ bhairavī saṁsthitō:'haṁ gurucaraṇaparō:'haṁ bhairavōhaṁ śivō:'ham
With a garment of directions, with liberated hair, fierce in form,
राज्ञैर्योगीन्द्रमुख्यैः प्रतिपदमनिशं चिन्तितां चिन्त्यरूपां । संसारे सारभूतां त्रिभुवनजननीं छिन्नमस्तां प्रशस्तां
idaṁ stōtraṁ mahāpuṇyaṁ brahmaṇā bhāṣitaṁ purā
Terrifying, with a mouth and belly that are difficult to behold, with a rolling tongue that shines.
इष्टां तामिष्टदात्रीं कलिकलुषहरां चेतसा चिन्तयामि ॥ ६ ॥
sarvasiddhipradaṁ sākṣānmahāpātakanāśanam
With lightning-like eyes, she is the terrifying form resting at the edge of the heart.
उत्पत्ति स्थितिसंहृतीर्घटयितुं धत्ते त्रिरूपां तनुं
yaḥpaṭhētprātarutthāya dēvyāssannihitōpi vā
Immediately, she increases the blood flow of the severed neck.
त्रैगुण्याज्जगतोयदीयविकृति ब्रह्माच्युतश्शूलभृत् । तामाद्यां प्रकृतिं स्मरामि मनसा सर्वार्थसंसिद्धये
tasya siddhirbhavēddēvī vāñchitārtha pradāyinī
Placed upon the heads of Brahmā, Śiva, and others, adorned with a lotus-like seat.
यस्मात्म्सेरपदारविन्दयुगले लाभं भजन्ते नराः ॥ ७ ॥
dhanaṁ dhānyaṁ sutaṁ jāyāṁ hayaṁ hastinamēva ca
By the kings and foremost yogis, contemplated at every moment, she is the essence of contemplation.
अभिलषित परस्त्री योगपूजापरोऽहं
vasundharāṁ mahāvidyāmaṣṭasiddhiṁ labhēddhr̥vam
In the world, the essence of existence, the mother of the three worlds, I praise Chinnamastā.
बहुविधजन भावारम्भसम्भावितोऽहं । पशुजनविरतोऽहं भैरवी संस्थितोऽहं
vaiyāghrājinarañjitasvajaghanē:'raṇyē pralambōdarē kharvē nirvacanīyaparvasubhagē muṇḍāvalīmaṇḍitē
I contemplate her, the bestower of desires, who removes the impurities of the age.
गुरुचरणपरोऽहं भैरवोहं शिवोऽहम् ॥ ८ ॥
kartīṁ kundaruciṁ vicitravanitāṁ jñānē dadhānē padē mātarbhaktajanānukampini mahāmāyēstu tubhyaṁ namaḥ
She holds the three forms of creation, preservation, and destruction.
इदं स्तोत्रं महापुण्यं ब्रह्मणा भाषितं पुरा ।
iti śrī chinnamastādēvī stōtram
From the three qualities, she manifests the universe, bearing the trident of Brahmā and Acyuta.
