Sri Ganapathi Stotram
The stotram praises Ganesha and seeks his blessings for wisdom and success in various endeavors.
श्री गणेश स्तोत्राणि
jētuṁ yastripuraṁ harēṇa hariṇā vyājādbaliṁ badhnatā straṣṭuṁ vāribhavōdbhavēna bhuvanaṁ śēṣēṇa dhartuṁ dharam
O Lord Ganesha, I bow to you, the one who grants success and fulfills desires.
जेतुं यस्त्रिपुरं हरेण हरिणा व्याजाद्बलिं बध्नता
pārvatyā mahiṣāsurapramathanē siddhādhipaiḥ siddhayē dhyātaḥ pañcaśarēṇa viśvajitayē pāyāt sa nāgānanaḥ
He who, with the help of Hari, binds the demon Bali in the three cities.
स्त्रष्टुं वारिभवोद्भवेन भुवनं शेषेण धर्तुं धरम् । पार्वत्या महिषासुरप्रमथने सिद्धाधिपैः सिद्धये
vighnadhvāntanivāraṇaikataraṇirvighnāṭavīhavyavāṭ vighnavyālakulābhimānagaruḍō vighnēbhapañcānanaḥ
He who creates the world with the waters and sustains it with the serpent.
ध्यातः पञ्चशरेण विश्वजितये पायात् स नागाननः ॥ १ ॥
vighnōttuṅgagiriprabhēdanapavirvighnāmbudhērvāḍavō vighnāghaudhaghanapracaṇḍapavanō vighnēśvaraḥ pātu naḥ
In the slaying of the buffalo demon by Parvati, may the Siddhas protect us.
विघ्नध्वान्तनिवारणैकतरणिर्विघ्नाटवीहव्यवाट्
kharvaṁ sthūlatanuṁ gajēndravadanaṁ lambōdaraṁ sundaraṁ prasyandanmadagandhalubdhamadhupavyālōlagaṇḍasthalam
May the one with the serpent face, who is meditated upon with the five arrows, protect us.
विघ्नव्यालकुलाभिमानगरुडो विघ्नेभपञ्चाननः । विघ्नोत्तुङ्गगिरिप्रभेदनपविर्विघ्नाम्बुधेर्वाडवो
dantāghātavidāritārirudhiraiḥ sindūraśōbhākara vandē śailasutāsutaṁ gaṇapatiṁ siddhipradaṁ kāmadam
He who removes obstacles, the sole rescuer from the darkness of difficulties.
विघ्नाघौधघनप्रचण्डपवनो विघ्नेश्वरः पातु नः ॥ २ ॥
gajānanāya mahasē pratyūhatimiracchidē
He who is the king of obstacles, may he protect us from all hindrances.
खर्वं स्थूलतनुं गजेन्द्रवदनं लम्बोदरं सुन्दरं
apārakaruṇāpūrataraṅgitadr̥śē namaḥ
May the one with the elephant face, the large-bodied, beautiful Lord, protect us.
प्रस्यन्दन्मदगन्धलुब्धमधुपव्यालोलगण्डस्थलम् । दन्ताघातविदारितारिरुधिरैः सिन्दूरशोभाकर
agajānanapadmārkaṁ gajānanamaharniśam
He who is intoxicated with the fragrance of honey, with a playful demeanor.
वन्दे शैलसुतासुतं गणपतिं सिद्धिप्रदं कामदम् ॥ ३ ॥
anēkadaṁ taṁ bhaktānāmēkadantamupāsmahē
He who is adorned with the red vermillion, may he protect us from all enemies.
गजाननाय महसे प्रत्यूहतिमिरच्छिदे ।
śvētāṅgaṁ śvētavastraṁ sitakusumagaṇaiḥ pūjitaṁ śvētagandhaiḥ kṣīrābdhau ratnadīpaiḥ suranaratilakaṁ ratnasiṁhāsanastham
I bow to the son of the mountain, Ganesha, who grants success and fulfills desires.
अपारकरुणापूरतरङ्गितदृशे नमः ॥ ४ ॥
dōrbhiḥ pāśāṅkuśābjābhayavaramanasaṁ candramauliṁ trinētraṁ dhyāyēcchāntyarthamīśaṁ gaṇapatimamalaṁ śrīsamētaṁ prasannam
To Gajanan, the great one, who dispels the darkness of ignorance.
अगजाननपद्मार्कं गजाननमहर्निशम् ।
āvāhayē taṁ gaṇarājadēvaṁ raktōtpalābhāsamaśēṣavandyam
Salutations to the one who is filled with boundless compassion and is ever-present.
अनेकदं तं भक्तानामेकदन्तमुपास्महे ॥ ५ ॥
vighnāntakaṁ vighnaharaṁ gaṇēśaṁ bhajāmi raudraṁ sahitaṁ ca siddhyā
To Gajanan, the sun of the lotus, who is worshipped day and night.
श्वेताङ्गं श्वेतवस्त्रं सितकुसुमगणैः पूजितं श्वेतगन्धैः
yaṁ brahma vēdāntavidō vadanti paraṁ pradhānaṁ puruṣaṁ tathā:'nyē
We meditate upon him, the one with a single tusk, who is adored by devotees.
क्षीराब्धौ रत्नदीपैः सुरनरतिलकं रत्नसिंहासनस्थम् । दोर्भिः पाशाङ्कुशाब्जाभयवरमनसं चन्द्रमौलिं त्रिनेत्रं
viśvōdgatēḥ kāraṇamīśvaraṁ vā tasmai namō vighnavināśanāya
With a white body, dressed in white, worshipped with white flowers and fragrances.
ध्यायेच्छान्त्यर्थमीशं गणपतिममलं श्रीसमेतं प्रसन्नम् ॥ ६ ॥
vighnēśa vīryāṇi vicitrakāṇi vandījanairmāgadhakaiḥ smr̥tāni
In the ocean of milk, seated on a throne of gems, adorned like a celestial being.
आवाहये तं गणराजदेवं रक्तोत्पलाभासमशेषवन्द्यम् ।
śrutvā samuttiṣṭha gajānana tvaṁ brāhmē jaganmaṅgalakaṁ kuruṣva
With hands holding a noose and a goad, the moon-crested one with three eyes.
विघ्नान्तकं विघ्नहरं गणेशं भजामि रौद्रं सहितं च सिद्ध्या ॥ ७ ॥
gaṇēśa hēramba gajānanēti mahōdara svānubhavaprakāśin
May we meditate upon the pure Lord Ganesha, who is auspicious and pleasing.
यं ब्रह्म वेदान्तविदो वदन्ति परं प्रधानं पुरुषं तथाऽन्ये ।
variṣṭha siddhipriya buddhinātha vadanta ēvaṁ tyajata prabhītīḥ
I invoke that Lord of Ganas, who is as beautiful as a red lotus and is worthy of all reverence.
विश्वोद्गतेः कारणमीश्वरं वा तस्मै नमो विघ्नविनाशनाय ॥ ८ ॥
anēkavighnāntaka vakratuṇḍa svasañjñavāsiṁśca caturbhujēti
I worship Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, the fierce one, along with success.
विघ्नेश वीर्याणि विचित्रकाणि वन्दीजनैर्मागधकैः स्मृतानि ।
kavīśa dēvāntakanāśakārin vadanta ēvaṁ tyajata prabhītīḥ
He whom the wise say is the ultimate reality, the supreme person, and the essence of all.
श्रुत्वा समुत्तिष्ठ गजानन त्वं ब्राह्मे जगन्मङ्गलकं कुरुष्व ॥ ९ ॥
anantacidrūpamayaṁ gaṇēśaṁ hyabhēdabhēdādivihīnamādyam
To the cause of the universe's emergence, the Lord, I bow to Him who removes obstacles.
गणेश हेरम्ब गजाननेति महोदर स्वानुभवप्रकाशिन् ।
hr̥di prakāśasya dharaṁ svadhīsthaṁ tamēkadantaṁ śaraṇaṁ vrajāmaḥ
O Vighnēśa, your diverse powers are remembered by the wise and learned.
वरिष्ठ सिद्धिप्रिय बुद्धिनाथ वदन्त एवं त्यजत प्रभीतीः ॥ १० ॥
viśvādibhūtaṁ hr̥di yōgināṁ vai pratyakṣarūpēṇa vibhāntamēkam
Having heard this, arise, O Gajānana, and make the world auspicious.
अनेकविघ्नान्तक वक्रतुण्ड स्वसञ्ज्ञवासिंश्च चतुर्भुजेति ।
sadā nirālambasamādhigamyaṁ tamēkadantaṁ śaraṇaṁ vrajāmaḥ
O Gaṇēśa, Hēramba, Gajānana, you are the embodiment of self-realization.
कवीश देवान्तकनाशकारिन् वदन्त एवं त्यजत प्रभीतीः ॥ ११ ॥
yadīyavīryēṇa samarthabhūtā māyā tayā saṁracitaṁ ca viśvam
O supreme bestower of success, O Lord of intellect, thus abandon all fears.
अनन्तचिद्रूपमयं गणेशं ह्यभेदभेदादिविहीनमाद्यम् ।
nāgātmakaṁ hyātmatayā pratītaṁ tamēkadantaṁ śaraṇaṁ vrajāmaḥ
O Vakratuṇḍa, the remover of countless obstacles, you who reside in your own name, with four arms.
हृदि प्रकाशस्य धरं स्वधीस्थं तमेकदन्तं शरणं व्रजामः ॥ १२ ॥
sarvāntarē saṁsthitamēkamūḍhaṁ yadājñayā sarvamidaṁ vibhāti
O Kavīśa, the destroyer of the gods' enemies, thus abandon all fears.
विश्वादिभूतं हृदि योगिनां वै प्रत्यक्षरूपेण विभान्तमेकम् ।
anantarūpaṁ hr̥di bōdhakaṁ vai tamēkadantaṁ śaraṇaṁ vrajāmaḥ
We take refuge in Gaṇēśa, who is the embodiment of infinite consciousness, free from duality and distinctions.
सदा निरालम्बसमाधिगम्यं तमेकदन्तं शरणं व्रजामः ॥ १३ ॥
yaṁ yōginō yōgabalēna sādhyaṁ kurvanti taṁ kaḥ stavanēna nauti
We take refuge in Him, the one-tusked, who resides in the heart and is self-existent.
यदीयवीर्येण समर्थभूता माया तया संरचितं च विश्वम् ।
ataḥ praṇāmēna susiddhidō:'stu tamēkadantaṁ śaraṇaṁ vrajāmaḥ
He who is the essence of all beings, manifesting in the hearts of yogis, we take refuge in Him, the one-tusked.
नागात्मकं ह्यात्मतया प्रतीतं तमेकदन्तं शरणं व्रजामः ॥ १४ ॥
dēvēndramaulimandāramakarandakaṇāruṇāḥ
We take refuge in Him, who is always attained through the state of non-attachment.
सर्वान्तरे संस्थितमेकमूढं यदाज्ञया सर्वमिदं विभाति ।
vighnān harantu hērambacaraṇāmbujarēṇavaḥ
By His power, the universe is created by the illusion that He embodies.
अनन्तरूपं हृदि बोधकं वै तमेकदन्तं शरणं व्रजामः ॥ १५ ॥
ēkadantaṁ mahākāyaṁ lambōdaragajānanam
We take refuge in Him, who is perceived as the essence of the self.
यं योगिनो योगबलेन साध्यं कुर्वन्ति तं कः स्तवनेन नौति ।
vighnanāśakaraṁ dēvaṁ hērambaṁ praṇamāmyaham
He who is the one, existing within all, by whose command everything shines forth.
अतः प्रणामेन सुसिद्धिदोऽस्तु तमेकदन्तं शरणं व्रजामः ॥ १६ ॥
yadakṣara pada bhraṣṭaṁ mātrāhīnaṁ ca yadbhavēt
We take refuge in Him, who is of infinite forms, the illuminator of the heart.
देवेन्द्रमौलिमन्दारमकरन्दकणारुणाः ।
tatsarvaṁ kṣamyatāṁ dēva prasīda paramēśvara
The one whom the yogis achieve through the power of yoga, who does not praise him with hymns?
विघ्नान् हरन्तु हेरम्बचरणाम्बुजरेणवः ॥ १७ ॥
iti śrī gaṇapati stōtraṁ sampūrṇam
Therefore, with reverence, we take refuge in that one-tusked Lord.
