Sri Surya Pratah Smarana Stotram
The stotram consists of verses praising Surya and invoking his presence, encouraging devotees to remember him at the start of the day.
श्री सूर्य स्तोत्राणि
prātaḥ smarāmi khalu tatsaviturvarēṇyaṁ rūpaṁ hi maṇḍalamr̥cō:'tha tanuryajūṁṣi
In the morning, I remember that supreme light of the sun.
प्रातः स्मरामि खलु तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं
sāmāni yasya kiraṇāḥ prabhavādihētuṁ brahmāharātmakamalakṣyamacintyarūpam
Its form is indeed the essence of the Vedas and the Yajus.
रूपं हि मण्डलमृचोऽथ तनुर्यजूंषि । सामानि यस्य किरणाः प्रभवादिहेतुं
prātarnamāmi taraṇiṁ tanuvāṅmanōbhi- -rbrahmēndrapūrvakasurairnatamarcitaṁ ca
The hymns whose rays arise as the cause of creation.
ब्रह्माहरात्मकमलक्ष्यमचिन्त्यरूपम् ॥ १ ॥
vr̥ṣṭipramōcanavinigrahahētubhūtaṁ trailōkyapālanaparaṁ triguṇātmakaṁ ca
I bow to that incomprehensible form of Brahma, the essence of the lotus.
प्रातर्नमामि तरणिं तनुवाङ्मनोभि-
prātarbhajāmi savitāramanantaśaktiṁ pāpaughaśatrubhayarōgaharaṁ paraṁ ca
In the morning, I worship the sun with my body, speech, and mind.
-र्ब्रह्मेन्द्रपूर्वकसुरैर्नतमर्चितं च । वृष्टिप्रमोचनविनिग्रहहेतुभूतं
taṁ sarvalōkakalanātmakakālamūrtiṁ gōkaṇṭhabandhanavimōcanamādidēvam
It is worshipped by Brahma, Indra, and the other gods.
त्रैलोक्यपालनपरं त्रिगुणात्मकं च ॥ २ ॥
ślōkatrayamidaṁ bhānōḥ prātaḥ prātaḥ paṭhēttu yaḥ
It is the cause of the release from the rain of troubles.
प्रातर्भजामि सवितारमनन्तशक्तिं
sa sarvavyādhinirmuktaḥ paraṁ sukhamavāpnuyāt
It is the supreme being, the essence of the three worlds, and the three gunas.
पापौघशत्रुभयरोगहरं परं च । तं सर्वलोककलनात्मककालमूर्तिं
iti śrī sūrya prātaḥ smaraṇa stōtram
In the morning, I adore the sun, the infinite power.
