Sri Surya Stavaraja Stotram
The Sri Surya Stavaraja Stotram is a hymn that glorifies Surya, celebrating his supremacy and seeking his blessings for a prosperous life.
ब्रह्मोवाच । स्तवनं सामवेदोक्तं सूर्यस्य व्याधिमोचनम् ।
brahmōvāca
Brahman said,
सर्वपापहरं सारं धनारोग्यकरं परम् ॥ १ ॥
stavanaṁ sāmavēdōktaṁ sūryasya vyādhimōcanam
The hymn prescribed in the Sāmaveda is the remedy for the afflictions of the sun,
तं ब्रह्म परमं धाम ज्योतीरूपं सनातनम् ।
sarvapāpaharaṁ sāraṁ dhanārōgyakaraṁ param
It is the essence that removes all sins, grants wealth and health, and is supreme.
त्वामहं स्तोतुमिच्छामि भक्तानुग्रहकारकम् ॥ २ ॥
taṁ brahma paramaṁ dhāma jyōtīrūpaṁ sanātanam
That Brahman is the highest abode, eternal in the form of light.
त्रैलोक्यलोचनं लोकनाथं पापविमोचनम् ।
tvāmahaṁ stōtumicchāmi bhaktānugrahakārakam
I wish to praise You, who bestows grace upon Your devotees.
तपसां फलदातारं दुःखदं पापिनां सदा ॥ ३ ॥
trailōkyalōcanaṁ lōkanāthaṁ pāpavimōcanam
You are the eye of the three worlds, the Lord of the universe, the liberator from sins.
कर्मानुरूपफलदं कर्मबीजं दयानिधिम् ।
tapasāṁ phaladātāraṁ duḥkhadaṁ pāpināṁ sadā
You are the giver of the fruits of penance, the source of suffering for the sinful always.
कर्मरूपं क्रियारूपमरूपं कर्मबीजकम् ॥ ४ ॥
karmānurūpaphaladaṁ karmabījaṁ dayānidhim
You give results according to actions, the seed of actions, the ocean of compassion.
ब्रह्मविष्णुमहेशानामंशं च त्रिगुणात्मकम् ।
karmarūpaṁ kriyārūpamarūpaṁ karmabījakam
You are the form of actions, the form of deeds, the seed of actions.
व्याधिदं व्याधिहन्तारं शोकमोहभयापहम् । सुखदं मोक्षदं सारं भक्तिदं सर्वकामदम् ॥ ५ ॥
brahmaviṣṇumahēśānāmaṁśaṁ ca triguṇātmakam
You are a part of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, embodying the three qualities.
सर्वेश्वरं सर्वरूपं साक्षिणं सर्वकर्मणाम् । प्रत्यक्षं सर्वलोकानामप्रत्यक्षं मनोहरम् ॥ ६ ॥
vyādhidaṁ vyādhihantāraṁ śōkamōhabhayāpaham
You are the remover of diseases, the destroyer of ailments, the dispeller of sorrow, delusion, and fear.
शश्वद्रसहरं पश्चाद्रसदं सर्वसिद्धिदम् । सिद्धिस्वरूपं सिद्धेशं सिद्धानां परमं गुरुम् ॥ ७ ॥
sukhadaṁ mōkṣadaṁ sāraṁ bhaktidaṁ sarvakāmadam
You are the giver of happiness, the grantor of liberation, the essence that bestows devotion and fulfills all desires.
स्तवराजमिदं प्रोक्तं गुह्याद्गुह्यतरं परम् । त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेन्नित्यं व्याधिभ्यः स प्रमुच्यते ॥ ८ ॥
sarvēśvaraṁ sarvarūpaṁ sākṣiṇaṁ sarvakarmaṇām
You are the Lord of all, the embodiment of all forms, the witness of all actions.
आन्ध्यं कुष्ठं च दारिद्र्यं रोगः शोको भयं कलिः । तस्य नश्यति विश्वेश श्रीसूर्यकृपया ध्रुवम् ॥ ९ ॥
pratyakṣaṁ sarvalōkānāmapratyakṣaṁ manōharam
You are manifest to all beings, yet unmanifest, captivating to the mind.
महाकुष्ठी च गलितो चक्षुर्हीनो महाव्रणी । यक्ष्मग्रस्तो महाशूली नानाव्याधियुतोऽपि वा ॥ १० ॥
śaśvadrasaharaṁ paścādrasadaṁ sarvasiddhidam
You are the eternal source of light, the source of all accomplishments.
मासं कृत्वा हविष्यान्नं श्रुत्वाऽतो मुच्यते ध्रुवम् । स्नानं च सर्वतीर्थानां लभते नात्र संशयः ॥ ११ ॥
siddhisvarūpaṁ siddhēśaṁ siddhānāṁ paramaṁ gurum
The form of perfection, the lord of the perfected, the supreme guru of the perfected,
इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवर्ते महापुराणे गणपतिखण्डे एकोनविंशोऽध्याये ब्रह्मकृत श्री सूर्य स्तवराजम् । Surya - सूर्य
stavarājamidaṁ prōktaṁ guhyādguhyataraṁ param
This hymn is proclaimed as the king of hymns, more secret than the secret.

trisandhyaṁ yaḥ paṭhēnnityaṁ vyādhibhyaḥ sa pramucyatē
