Trailokya Mohana Ganapati Kavacham
The Trailokya Mohana Ganapati Kavacham is a protective hymn that invokes Ganesha's blessings for safety and success.
श्री गणेश स्तोत्राणि
namastasmai gaṇēśāya sarvavighnavināśinē
Salutations to that Ganesh, the remover of all obstacles.
नमस्तस्मै गणेशाय सर्वविघ्नविनाशिने ।
kāryārambhēṣu sarvēṣu pūjyatē yaḥ surairapi
He who is worshipped by the gods in all endeavors.
कार्यारम्भेषु सर्वेषु पूज्यते यः सुरैरपि ॥ १ ॥
śrīmanmahāgaṇapatēḥ kavacasya r̥ṣiḥ śivaḥ
The sage of the great Ganapati's armor is Shiva.
श्रीमन्महागणपतेः कवचस्य ऋषिः शिवः ।
gaṇapatirdēvatā ca gāyatrī chandaḥ ēva ca
Ganapati is the deity, and the Gayatri is the meter.
गणपतिर्देवता च गायत्री छन्दः एव च । धर्मार्थकाममोक्षेषु विनियोगः प्रकीर्तितः ।
dharmārthakāmamōkṣēṣu viniyōgaḥ prakīrtitaḥ
The application is proclaimed for righteousness, wealth, desire, and liberation.
शक्तिः स्वाहा ग्लैं बीजं विनियोगस्य कीर्तितः ॥
śaktiḥ svāhā glaiṁ bījaṁ viniyōgasya kīrtitaḥ
The power is Swaha, and the seed is Glaiṁ, as described in the application.
अथ न्यासः ।
atha nyāsaḥ
Now the Nyasa (ritual placement).
ओं श्रीं ह्रीं क्लीं अङ्गुष्ठाभ्यां नमः । ग्लौं गं गणपतये तर्जनीभ्यां नमः ।
ōṁ śrīṁ hrīṁ klīṁ aṅguṣṭhābhyāṁ namaḥ
Om, Shriṁ, Hriṁ, Kliṁ, I bow with my thumbs.
वरवरद मध्यमाभ्यां नमः । सर्वजनं मे अनामिकाभ्यां नमः ।
glauṁ gaṁ gaṇapatayē tarjanībhyāṁ namaḥ
Glauṁ, Gaṁ, to Ganapati, I bow with my index fingers.
वशमानय कनिष्ठिकाभ्यां नमः । स्वाहा करतलकरपृष्ठाभ्यां नमः ।
varavarada madhyamābhyāṁ namaḥ
Bestower of boons, I bow with my middle fingers.
एवं हृदयादि न्यासः ॥
sarvajanaṁ mē anāmikābhyāṁ namaḥ
To all beings, I bow with my ring fingers.
ध्यानम् –
vaśamānaya kaniṣṭhikābhyāṁ namaḥ
Bring under control, I bow with my little fingers.
हस्तीन्द्राननमिन्दुचूडमरुणच्छायं त्रिनेत्रं रसा-
svāhā karatalakarapr̥ṣṭhābhyāṁ namaḥ
Swaha, I bow with the palms of my hands.
-दाश्लिष्टं प्रियया सपद्मकरया स्वाङ्कस्थया सन्ततम् ।
ēvaṁ hr̥dayādi nyāsaḥ
Thus, the heart and other Nyasa.
बीजापूरगदाधनुस्त्रिशिखयुक् चक्राब्जपाशोत्पल
dhyānam – hastīndrānanaminducūḍamaruṇacchāyaṁ trinētraṁ rasā- -dāśliṣṭaṁ priyayā sapadmakarayā svāṅkasthayā santatam
Meditation –
व्रीह्यग्रस्वविषाणरत्नकलशान् हस्तैर्वहन्तं भजे ।
bījāpūragadādhanustriśikhayuk cakrābjapāśōtpala vrīhyagrasvaviṣāṇaratnakalaśān hastairvahantaṁ bhajē
With the face of an elephant, with a moon-like crest,
कवचं –
kavacaṁ – ōṁ brahmabījaṁ śiraḥ pātu kēvalaṁ muktidāyakam
With three eyes, embraced by my beloved,
ओं ब्रह्मबीजं शिरः पातु केवलं मुक्तिदायकम् ।
śrīṁ bījamakṣiṇī pātu sarvasiddhisamarpakam
With a lotus hand, ever residing in my heart.
श्रीं बीजमक्षिणी पातु सर्वसिद्धिसमर्पकम् ॥ १ ॥
hr̥llēkhā śrōtrayōḥ pātu sarvaśatruvināśinī
The seed of the lotus, adorned with three peaks, is held by hands that carry the pot of jewels, I worship.
हृल्लेखा श्रोत्रयोः पातु सर्वशत्रुविनाशिनी ।
kāmabījaṁ kapōlau ca sarvaduṣṭanivāraṇam
Om, may the seed of Brahman protect my head, granting liberation alone.
कामबीजं कपोलौ च सर्वदुष्टनिवारणम् ॥ २ ॥
glauṁ gaṁ ca gaṇapatayē vācaṁ pātu vināyakaḥ
May the seed of Shri protect my eyes, offering all accomplishments.
ग्लौं गं च गणपतये वाचं पातु विनायकः ।
varabījaṁ tathā jihvāṁ varadaṁ hastayōstathā
May the lines of my heart protect my ears, destroying all enemies.
वरबीजं तथा जिह्वां वरदं हस्तयोस्तथा ॥ ३ ॥
sarvajanaṁ mē ca bāhudvayaṁ kaṇṭhaṁ gaṇēśvaraḥ
The seed of desire protects my ears and wards off all wickedness.
सर्वजनं मे च बाहुद्वयं कण्ठं गणेश्वरः ।
vaśaṁ mē pātu hr̥dayaṁ pātu siddhīśvarastathā
May Ganapati protect my speech with the seed of "glauṁ" and "gaṁ."
वशं मे पातु हृदयं पातु सिद्धीश्वरस्तथा ॥ ४ ॥
nābhiṁ ānaya mē pātu sarvasiddhivināyakaḥ
May the seed of boons protect my tongue, and may the giver of boons protect my hands.
नाभिं आनय मे पातु सर्वसिद्धिविनायकः ।
jaṅghayōrgulphayōḥ svāhā sarvāṅgaṁ vighnanāyakaḥ
May Ganesh protect my two arms and my throat, as well as all people.
जङ्घयोर्गुल्फयोः स्वाहा सर्वाङ्गं विघ्ननायकः ॥ ५ ॥
gaṇapatistvagrataḥ pātu gaṇēśaḥ pr̥ṣṭhatastathā
May Siddheshvara protect my heart, and may the remover of obstacles protect my navel.
गणपतिस्त्वग्रतः पातु गणेशः पृष्ठतस्तथा ।
dakṣiṇē siddhidaḥ pātu vāmē viśvārtihārakaḥ
May the remover of obstacles protect my ankles and calves; hail to all parts of my body.
दक्षिणे सिद्धिदः पातु वामे विश्वार्तिहारकः ॥ ६ ॥
durjayō rakṣatu prācyāmāgnēyyāṁ gaṇapastathā
May Ganapati protect me from the front, and Ganesh from behind.
दुर्जयो रक्षतु प्राच्यामाग्नेय्यां गणपस्तथा ।
dakṣiṇasyāṁ girijajō nairr̥tyāṁ śambhunandanaḥ
May Siddhida protect me on the right, and the remover of all fears on the left.
दक्षिणस्यां गिरिजजो नैरृत्यां शम्भुनन्दनः ॥ ७ ॥
pratīcyāṁ sthāṇujaḥ pātu vāyavyāmākhuvāhanaḥ
May the invincible one protect me from the east, and Ganapati from the fire.
प्रतीच्यां स्थाणुजः पातु वायव्यामाखुवाहनः ।
kaubēryāmīśvaraḥ pātu īśānyāmīśvarātmajaḥ
May the son of Girija protect me in the south, and the son of Shiva in the southwest.
कौबेर्यामीश्वरः पातु ईशान्यामीश्वरात्मजः ॥ ८ ॥
adhō gaṇapatiḥ pātu ūrdhaṁ pātu vināyakaḥ
May the one who is the lord of the west protect us, and the one who rides the wind in the northwest.
अधो गणपतिः पातु ऊर्धं पातु विनायकः ।
ētābhyō daśadigbhyastu pātu nityaṁ gaṇēśvaraḥ
May the lord of wealth protect us, and the son of the lord in the northeast.
एताभ्यो दशदिग्भ्यस्तु पातु नित्यं गणेश्वरः ॥ ९ ॥
itīdaṁ kathitaṁ dēvi brahmavidyākalēvaram
May Ganapati protect us from below, and may Vinayaka protect us from above.
इतीदं कथितं देवि ब्रह्मविद्याकलेवरम् ।
trailōkyamōhanaṁ nāma kavacaṁ brahmarūpakam
From these ten directions, may the lord of Ganesha protect us always.
त्रैलोक्यमोहनं नाम कवचं ब्रह्मरूपकम् ॥ १० ॥
iti śrīmahāgaṇapati trailōkyamōhanakavacaṁ sampūrṇam
Thus, this has been narrated, O Goddess, as the embodiment of Brahma Vidya.
