Vashistha is one of the oldest and most revered Vedic rishis. He is one of the Saptarishis (seven great Rishis) of India.Vasiṣṭhasmṛti (वसिष्ठस्मति) is the name of a work quoted in the Bhojanakutūhala (bhakṣyābhakṣya-prakaraṇa), which discusses the topics related to the consumption of food such as timings, do’s and don’ts, stipulations and prohibitions as prescribed in Smṛti texts.
