वृथा वृष्टिः समुद्रेषु वृथा तृप्तस्य भोजनम् । वृथा दानं समर्थस्य वृथा दीपो दिवापि च ॥
vṛthā vṛṣṭiḥ samudreṣu vṛthā tṛptasya bhojanam | vṛthā dānaṃ samarthasya vṛthā dīpo divāpi ca ||
समुद्र में होने वाली वर्षा व्यर्थ है. जिसका पेट भरा हुआ है उसके लिए अन्न व्यर्थ है. पैसे वाले आदमी के लिए भेट वस्तु का कोई अर्थ नहीं. दिन के समय जलता दिया व्यर्थ है.
Hindi Translation
Rain which falls upon the sea is useless; so is food for one who is satiated; in vain is a gift for one who is wealthy; and a burning lamp during the daytime is useless.
