The Annapurna Temple is a renowned temple in Varanasi, India, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Annapurna, who is considered the goddess of food and nourishment. According to the legend, the temple was established by Maratha queen Rani Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century.

Architecture

The Annapurna Temple of Varanasi is an exquisite example of North Indian temple architecture. The temple is built in the Nagara style, characterized by a curvilinear shikhara or tower and an entrance porch or mandapa. It is constructed using red sandstone, with white marble used for the intricate carvings and decorations.

The temple facade is adorned with intricate carvings of gods, goddesses. The main entrance to the temple is through a tall and ornate doorway, which is flanked by two smaller doors on either side. Above the entrance is a beautifully carved frieze depicting scenes from the Hindu Scriptures.
