The story of the Chauragarh temple begins from the part where Demon Bhasmasur, a devotee of Bhagwaan Shiva practised extreme penance to please his ancestors and the Bhagwaan himself.

Architecture
The temple itself is a half-built modern structure with an idol of Shiva in the garbhagriha. A small hut by the temple serves as the residence for the two priests. The temple sanctum enshrines an ancient Shivalinga that was installed by Sangram Shah, the king of the Gond Dynasty.
