Jagannath temple is located in the district of Alwar, in the state of Rajasthan, in Northwestern India. It is nearly 150 km north of Jaipur and nearly 160km south of Delhi. It is a Hindu temple that is largely dedicated to Bhagwaan Vishnu. The main deities of this temple are Garbhagriha and Jagannathji who are presiding deities related to the anthropomorphic form of Bhagwaan Jagannath of Puri. On the other hand, the two other main deities are Sitaramji and Jankiji. It is one of the most sought after and most frequented Hindu temple in Alwar. A good number of domestic and foreign visitors and tourists along with adherent devotees and pilgrims visit this particular temple with great faith and devotion throughout the year.
Religious Significance
It is much popular for its Rath Yatra festival which is devotionally carried yearly where Bhagwan Jagannath is carried successfully in a chariot called Indra Vimana. The stated chariot which is an elephant carriage has been frequently used by the King of Alwar. It was later distributed to the shrine and frequently used for Rath Yatra. This distinct chariot celebration quite follows different rituals and customs than those of Puri in the state of Orissa. In Alwar, the Rath Yatra is different here because of the wedding ceremony that takes place in a holy manner between Bhagwan Jagannath and Devi Jankiji in a magnificent manner. This temple pulls a large number of visitors, sightseers, adherent devotees, and travelers to this temple daily plus throughout the annual Rath Yatra festival time. The city of Alwar comes alive through the festive and promising celebration days at this shrine to a great extent.The main divinities of this temple are Garbhagriha and Jagannathji who are presiding deities related to the anthropomorphic appearance of Bhagwan Jagannath of Puri. The two other foremost deities are Sitaramji and Jankiji. It is one of the most explored after and most visited Hindu temple in Alwar.
