Timings
The temple's operating hours are from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM in the morning, and from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the evening. Devotees are free to perform pooja during these hours at their convenience. In case the temple is closed, an opening has been specially created for darshan (sacred viewing). The Poojari (priest) of the temple claims that performing pooja here can alleviate the negative effects of Kaal Sarp Dosh in one's horoscope.
Among the deities to be worshipped is Nageshwar which is considered to be an important Shiv Ling. Nageshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlings. On all India basis, there are two temples which are worshipped as Nageshwar Jyotirling. One is in Maharashtra and the other one is near Dwarka.
Nageshwar temple in Varanasi is worshipped as one of the Jyotirlings. It is believed that doing pooja and archana of Nageshwar Ling at Kashi is as beneficial as doing a similar pooja at the above two temples. This will cleanse the devotee of all the sins committed knowingly or unknowingly.
